Temp Gage Died
mother replied to ActionJax's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
if you take the two screws out of the right side rad chrome piece with reflector on it, this will make it easier to see the sensor and the wire that should be plugged onto it. the sensor if i remember is a brass colour, with only one wire that plugs onto it. cheers, Scott -
more prayers heading your way. Scott and Sherry

Temp Gage Died
mother replied to ActionJax's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
there is a single sensor wire that most likely slipped off the temp sensor. mine did the same thing. on the right side of the bike, just behind the radiator, there is a sensor that is screwed into the back of the rad. there is a single wire with a connector that should be pushed onto this sensor. i took a pair of pliers and gently closed the connector so it would push onto the sensor a little tighter. it is an easy fix. let us know how you make out. cheers, Scott -
sweet lookin ride. cheers, Scott

i think Big Tom might still have some of your wrenches and i could have come down to help you with your plumbing problem. oh well, we are too late. maybe i can come over and feed you some Guiness and then you could try and pee like a teenager again. we could water Becky's garden, or maybe the neighbours lawn. get well buddy, we have some more riding to do. Cheers, Scott

Speedometer cable
mother replied to rhncue's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
i broke my cable a couple of weeks ago, same as yours. i went to a good Yami dealer and they found another cable slighly longer from another bike. i went out to the parking lot, slid the new inner spring up into my existing cable sheath after lubing and threw away the new cable casing from the some other bike. if you can find a longer inner spring, if you are handy you can cut it shorter with a dremel type tool, and carefully put the square edges on the end just like the old one. hope this helps. cheers, Scott -
oil pressure light came on
mother replied to mother's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
thanks guys, i knew i can count on the family here to help me out. i did hit a big bump in the road and that is when the light came on. the level is 3/4 full in the sight glass. usually change oil every 3,000 miles, i am at 5,000 and will do an oil change today or tomorrow. thanks again cheers, Scott -
i dont get on here for a few days and look what happens. glad both of you are okay. now you get to work on a 2nd gen already. take care buddy and god bless both of you. Scott

oil pressure light came on
mother posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
while riding today, the oil pressure light came on. i pulled over right away and shut the bike off. oil level was fine on the sight glass, so i carried on. the bike runs fine, and the next time i stop and restart the bike the light goes off, all back to normal. any answers would be appreciated. it is time for an oil change, would the filter be plugging and that be the reason the warning light came on? maybe there is a loose connection on the pressure sensor, anyone know where the sensor is located on the engine? cheers, Scott -

i made a pair of brackets for Bongobob to do what you are asking. then he had some other wiring issues. i am sure he will be responding to this post very shortly. -

imagine, hey Bob they tried to use packing tape when duct tape works so much better. -
i had the exact same thing on my 86 vr. it is the fuse clip in the fuse block has weakened or is corroded and not making contact. it is hard to see but the end of the fuse overheated and the fuse even though it looked okay. tested open or blown. thanks to my buddy Carl who made a quick fix got me going, and i wired in a fuseholder the next day. i have ordered a new fuse block and will install it soon. cheers, Scott

when i left Bobs yesterday, the bike was partially torn apart and the wire harness to be installed was ready to go in. i am sure he has made some good headway on a project that most people would not attempt. thanks again Bob and Becky for your hospitality. cheers, Scott and Sherry
