I was actually speaking to someone at their corporate office about this & they are in the process of reclassifying this in all 50 states. The goal is to eliminate the need for a mc endorsement & helmet requirement. This this is actually to be built in an old Hummer factory in the USA. Hopefully they can hit this target price, even at 10K it would be worth it! http://gallery.mailchimp.com/24b371802c83d81776b06aa68/images/27376d13-8471-4930-a180-2cc84b110602.jpg

I'm hoping they eventually make a drop top version. This would be a GREAT alternative to a TRIKE! http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/the-new-us-automaker-s--6800--84-mpg-elio--142815228.html

I have an 84 VR. I don't sell these, I just bought from them. For the price I got 10 bulbs only (168/194 style) They are wedge style like our ventures have in the dash cluster. They fit nice & tight & work well but I could not get the dimmer to work. I have them in all my dash lighting, my rear light bars & rotor covers. I recently bought other AGT bulbs from them & so far I have not had any problems with them. They are bright & replace as easy as oem. The plus point is that depending on how many bulbs you replace ( I replaced over 25 of them) you will save CONSIDERABLE draw on your charging system.

They are strictly an Amazon shop.

Need advise on Passenger comfort
cabreco replied to DarkHorse9825's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Good point Jimbo, that was the 2nd complaint the mrs had. She wound up getting a BILT Evolution modular from Cycle Gear. It's actually more balanced than her 1/2 helmet. -

I'm 5'9" & my wife is 5'3" on a gen 1 with the stock windshield and she has the same complaint. She found that absolutely NOTHING will keep her from feeling the wind. What she does is always wears he armored jacket & a full face modular helmet. She has a 1/2 shell but will only use it for quick local hops. The modular is especially effective at highway speeds and in rain. She says she is completely insulated from the wind (she sometimes falls asleep back there) -
If it's one of those Plug Patches them you are good to go. (I would add a bottle of Ride-On Motorcycle Tire Balancer and Sealant just to be on the safe side) If it's just a straight auto tire plug I would not trust it, especially on any long hauls.

I would say it's more to keep people who get annoyed with motorcycles from dumping stuff into your tank.

None at all. They are not that bright to affect me. They don't illuminate much the just make the bike a bigger outline.

I thought about wiring to a switch but decided since the object is to be more visible they will always be on & since they are LED the draw is minimal. That being the case I grounded them to the chassis & wired the positive lead to the directional running lights (blue wire) this way they will go on automatically. I don't think glare would be an issue as they are not as bright as a halogen, they are just bright running lights. My expectation is that it will show a bigger footprint to other drivers.

Funny you mentioned this, I found out first hand today. My foot slipped out from under me on a crawl speed u-turn & I dropped her. Absolutely no major damage to the bike at all. Just the mirror got scuffed as did my helmet...oh yeah did I mention I took the handlebar to the ribs? My Gen1 is fully blinged so she weighs a bit more than stock...especially when she's on top! Those crash bars did the job well~!

OK one more try then. I found the adhesive is not great even though I cleaned all surfaces with plastic cleaner I will have to tack down some spots. It fits at the edge of the directional socket. I removed the turn signal, placed it then put back the turn signal.

Just thought I'd share a pix. I found a set of flexible 14" LED strips at Walmart. I thought they would make great accent eyebrow lights for my Gen 1. Wadday ya think?

Walmart batteries are good. I needed to buy one on the spot when my pickup truck's battery gave out in their parking lot. BUT if I can plan a purchase for anything for my Gen1 I like to deal with vendors who are part of this forum. You can't beat the customer service of a brother biker & supporting them may ensure they stay in business to help you in the future!

I guess even Deka has a bad batch occasionally. My original comparison was with an Autozone unit I needed to buy in a pinch. After their 3 month warranty expired it became a big problem. The funny thing is the Deka is just literally, just a few bucks more! BTW I forgot to disconnect my alarm for the week (an instant killer for the Autozone unit) and the Deka STILL cranked the Venture like the day it arrived. Real happy with it! BTW Earl, can you get Deka batteries for other bikes? When my CB750 is due to get a replacement, I'd happily like to deal with you on that too.

Gen1 Trunk lock question
cabreco replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
DUH! GREAT IDEA!!! it never dawned on me to cut each side differently. Sometimes the SIMPLEST fixes are right in front of your face. Thanks Brian, I think I'll go this route until I repaint time. -
The trunk on my 1984 was not there when I bought it & the one I put on came from my 84 parts bike. Unfortunately, I have 2 keys: 1 for the trunk lid lock & the lock that attaches the trunk & 1 for everything else. Would anyone know if the locks on the trunk (both the lid & the lock down) are rekeyable? If so, Also, how difficult is the removal of the locks so that I can just hand them to the locksmith

Info needed fork seals
cabreco replied to kentuckyrider's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I did mine I was a bit apprehensive as it looked intimidating but it was surprisingly simple. I also took the opportunity to rebuild all the fork parts while I had the tubes apart. I got all the parts from boats.net pretty cheap...and they were all Yamaha OEM. -

Oh BTW IDK if you saw the write up here for replacing the seals. It was a great help when I did them http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=496 -

I had seen the same message on Amazon when I was looking to do seals on my 1984 Venture. I was buying new fork oil at the Yamaha dealer & I spoke to the lead mechanic there. He said the tubes in a Gen 1 xvz are 40 mm but the extra 1 mm are inconsequential. The 41mm would work. I figured he knew what he was talking about so I picked it up. It's nicely made & weighted and splits in half so that tube don't have to be removed from the trees. FYI The OEM fork oil is 15w, some people use 7w after progressives. I found that to be too light. I ended up using 10w with progressives. I am 230Lb & riding 2 up that put's it at 340Lbs. -

I used this one. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009M4COVI/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Amazon.com: Motion Pro (08-0489) 41mm Ringer Fork Seal Driver: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41bv0ErRFtL.@@AMEPARAM@@41bv0ErRFtL[/ame] It worked like a charm the FIRST time! That was in 2012. -
For someone his size a 750 is a nice all around bike. My kid was not even 5'9" & 130lb soaking wet so a Rebel type is the only option for him. If you can find a 4 cyl Honda CB he'll love it. It's not a touring bike, but it is a nice cruiser. They were the 1st superbikes. I STILL have mine. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=1095 You can get a decent one under $1.5k The MSF is a must. I rode as a teenager, never took the course. Gave up riding at 25 years old trade for career & family. At 52 I decided to take up the bike again & took the MSF course. I was AMAZED at what I learned. Things that they showed be made riding so much easier & safer.

Ok so I finally broke down replaced the Autozone sealed battery that I bought last July. Earl (skydoc_17) hooked me up with a new Deka battery. HUGE difference between this & my Autozone battery. I had charged my old battery full & it did start my bike ok BUT when I swapped out to the Deka & hit the starter button I couldn't believe how fast she cranked. I was so quick I BARELY heard her crank before she fired up! Made the 4 brush starter FLY! Again a big THUMBS UP & THANK YOU to skydoc_17, that's the 2nd time he has come through for me in a BIG way! (1st time was the Progressives) In case any new members don't know him HE'S DA MAN!!
