Nope we don't nor Alabama as well. You good 'ol boys down there scare the crap outta us with your idea of a concealed carry gun http://gallery.roadbikereview.com/data/roadbike/500/The_Big_Gun.jpg

Unfortunatly, the lawsuits are the main reason. Personally I would not care. If I worked for a company with a no gun policy, I would still carry. Yes the consequence would be employment termination, but I say that would be preferable to being shot. I would carry with a http://www.smartcarry.com/ holster. http://www.smartcarry.com/images/standard.jpg It's undetectable. There is a saying that concealed carry permit holders have: "Its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"!

Gas smell (revisited)
cabreco replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Earl, you may have something there. When she was originally wreaking I started running seafoam in her and I was parking her on the centerstand. Being such a pain, I did start using the sidestand & I have not run Seafoam in her for months. I will try the clicking test, but I think you may have hit the nail on the head for me! -
Ok looking for suggestions. When I take out my '84 for a ride & then park her (in the garage) I get a gasoline/exhauset smell. I vent the garage but it comes back. Within 4 hours or so it stops. Bike runs fine & I get great mileage MPG. So far I have changed Fuel lines Vent lines Fuel filter all clamps Air filter PCV vent in air filter IS attached petcock is in good shape nothing is leaking, weaping or stuck Originally the bike smelled ALL the time but replacement of all lines fixed that. It's like she is running rich. I have narowed it down to the carbs & the floats are ok but is there anything ELSE on the carbs (washers fittings set screws etc) that anyone can suggest may be the problem? It's not a huge problem but more of an irritation. Any suggestions?

I had a list that I posted a few months ago (new tire, new brakes, Superbrace & fork seals...circumstances forced me to do them already. Now I got nothin'! -
I currently own an 2002 Explorer Sport Trac Great little truck, 4x4 does about 22 mpg on the hwy. Super strong, & handles off road nicely. The only con I have is that as an EXPLORER UHaul will not rent me any trailers because of the old Firestone/rollover issues. Although they will rent to an IDENTICAL Mercury Mountaineer owner, even thought ALL Explorers 2001 & up were totally changed. The way I worked around it is I took off all the Explorer badges & I have 2 Ranger badge with magnets which I attach when I rent. I guess you could do the same with Mountaineer badges.

Randy, With any luck, I should be in the Tri City area some time after my son graduates H.S. this coming June. It all depend on how long it takes to sell my current house. We've been looking at county houses. I like the fact they have 7-15 acres! Once we get there were going to have to get together!

Oh HELL no! I came from Jersey, there ain't NO WAY I'm moving anywhere colder than that! My next stop is to join Venturous in Tennessee!

So today I went to title & register my motorcycle's trailer. Went to DMV where they charged me $10 for a title, $18/yr for registration, $8/yr CITY personal property tax and $35 for STATE sales & use tax. So I say: "But I already paid sales tax at the store" Her answer... "It DUDN'T matter, there's a state minimum of $35 that the state charges on all titles".... I GOTTA MOVE!

Well I took the bike for it's 1st real run since doing the seals. I nice run with the Mrs. from Virginia to Knotts Island. SOOOO much better. Nice & cushy. The only thing I would change (and I will ) is the fork oil. I use 5wt which I feel is a bit too light. I am going to find 7wt or 10 wt. The 15wt I had in it originally was too stiff. BTW ray IDK if you saw it but I posted the videos here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74228 -
Flag arrive & it looks GREAT!

If the fix is not feasible, the tech will offer you to exchange it. When I got to the store they said the "comparable" unit was a Phillips 52". I said absolutely not! I wanted a SONY. I bought my Bravia after months of research & I even had the model that was closest to my unit BY SONY. They caved without much argument since they KNEW I was correct. Hey they tried!

You have to love Best Buy. 4 years ago I bought a 52" LCD Sony Bravia. I had their "Black Tie" warranty. It developed a green line 4" from the edge (not really bad) which would go away after 40 minutes. They can't get the replacement part from Sony for 2 months so the GAVE me a NEW 55" LED Sony Bravia Internet TV FREE!!! because Sony doesn't make 52" LCD tvs anymore.

These are the videos I promised on replacing the seals on a Gen 1. I did not document the entire breakdown. I assume we all know how to remove the calipers, antidives, & remove the front tire. This video starts as if you were doing progressives spring upgrade. The write up on here from skydoc was very easy to follow. I did use an impact gun for the 18mm allen bolts under the forks as they were spinning when I tried to remove them by hand. I used 5wt oil & have 8lbs of air in my class with progressive springs. It was recommended I use 7wt, but I could not find it. I have 15wt in it before but that was too harsh. befor the summe I will change the oil again. The best wt for me at 225lbs is either 7wt or 10wt w/o any air in the forks. I will figure that out! REMOVING THE SEALS [ame= ] [/ame] REASSEMBLY [ame= ] [/ame] I've put 50 miles on my bike & the forks seals are holding perfectly! I would be happy to answer any questions if you're planning to do it.

Take care removing the screws on the scoop under the headlight, I found mine rusted & the head of the screws were stripped. It's not that it's difficult, it's just a PITA. After you have it off, sit back & think if there is ANYTHING you want to do or add under there (tighten neck bearing, add lights, etc) you REALLY won't want to do this again! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/guns/suicide.gif

My wife has a 2003 Hyundai Elantra which actually came from the factory with Michelins. The car always performed INCREDIBLY (especially for a $13K car) On the highway she was quiet, gripped curves nicely. On snow & rain had great traction. Well when the time came to get new tires I cheaped out & went to Pep Boys. I bought their Challenger tires. The LOOKED like the OEM Michelins so I said what the hell. OMG, I felt the difference right away. The road noise was greater & the big kicker was stopping. This Elantra has no antilock brakes. In a light rain if I hit the brakes too hard...HYDROPLANE. Ok it took me about a year, but I replaced them again, this time with Goodrich. Although quieter on the road, in inclement weather the car still did not stop & grip the road like it did when new. I sucked it up & used those tires for a few years. Last year, my then 16 year old kid took over the car. Since it was due, I replaced the tires with Michelins. ( I saw them at Sam's too) Yeah they were pricey, & Sam's did have the best price on them but WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I drove the car home and it was raining. The car gripped the road and there was very minimal road noise. I did test the stopping distance by panic stopping at 30mph (on an empty street) NO HYDROPLANE! & The stopping distance was noticably reduced. So you're question of are they worth the extra 2 bills? To me it depends on who is driving. My wife had years of experince behind the wheel, my kid had zilch. She also had no problems compensating for the lesser tires. But now I only go Michelin. In my opinion, if you have the extra coin, do it...If funds are tight, make the determination based on the car's primary driver's abilities.

Ray My son will be putting the video together for me this weekend to uploaded it to You Tube. I will post a link as soon as it's done. The video does not show the removal of the top fork caps it's like doing progressives (followed a write up for that here) nor removing calipers the front wheel etc. It starts with the wheel off, splitting the upper & lower forks, & reassembly of the forks. I have never done them before & I kept putting them off because I was apprehensive. When I was left with no choice, I quickly found out it was very simple. I took my time with the process & was done in 2 days (I could done the job it 4 hours but I was lazy) There are some MUST have tools that you need like the long 18mm hex socket (harbor freight) but I also needed an impact gun. Not because the hex nut that hold the top & bottom forks together was tight, but because it spins INSIDE the fork with a hand rachet. I REALLY should have done this when I did the progressives! -

Well it appears I will have no winter project. I was going to do the fork seals replace the front tire, disconnect the antidives, & add a superbrace. Well because my front tire was making whirring noises, I replaced it. because the fork leak became huge...I did them this weekend. because Golf & Venture let me know about his Superbrace, I picked it up. The only thing I didn't do yet was disconnect the antidives. I wanted to wait until I tested the forks with th 5wt oil before I change anything else up front. Hell I even built a trailer, installed a CB, & wired up the trailer tail light converter. Now all I have left to do this winter but RIDE! (I even treated myself to a VentureRider Flag!) I want to thank everybody who helped me out with either parts or technical help (there are a lot of you guys) You made these projects a BREEZE! -
I should have it up by the weekend when my son edits the 3 parts into 1 movie. I was a bit intimidated at the prospect of doing seals byt it was a very easy process, just a few extra steps more that replaceing the front springs with progressives. If a person can do his ow car brakes or replace a stabalizer link on the car they can do this.
