  1. Lisa and I could make either of the three weekends. 14/17 would work the best though.
  2. I hope that whatever challenge has caused your decision... you can beat it and put it behind you.
  3. I grew up driving in snow in western MD. Now I live in east TN. By no fault of their own.... folks down here have absolutely no clue how to drive in snow/ice! None! I stay home. Not because snow scares me... but because I knew at least half those I encounter will have no idea what to do. I hope no one in that video was seriously hurt.
  4. I have sold several things online. One tip I would suggest is NEVER allow someone to come to your home to see something. And never go to someone elses home to buys something. Find a public area with lots of people to meet. A police station parking lot would be a good place if you have one close. And of course packing is always good if you are permitted.
  5. Mine did that right before my battery died a few years back.
  6. 102,000 on my 2002, so looks like I average around 8500 miles a year.
  7. I tried it on my smartphone. I actually prefer to use the normal web version on my phone as well. It did seem to work however.
  8. Never heard of it. Two questions I would ask are: 1. Is it rebuildable and how much to rebuild. 2. What is the warranty. The shock I went with and so far am very happy with is the Hagon heavy duty shock adjusted specifically to my weight and loading style. It was $469 which included shipping. Hagon shocks are rebuilable and have a two year warranty. I think they told me a rebuild out of warranty would be like $130 http://www.hagonshocksusa.com/ Merry Christmas
  9. Merry Christmas y'all from Tennessee! I hope 2014 brings everyone many miles of safe travels.
  10. I got out and burned a tank of gas yesterday. It felt good. Even got in a DQ stop for a pumpkin pie blizzard. Yum! Saturday is only calling for 30% rain. I might get a few more miles on then after hunting.
  11. Love my Gerbings! Have the jacket liner, riding pants, glove liners and socks. If done over, I would have skipped the pants. I never find it necessary to turn them on. Good insulated riding pants would be just as good. What I don't like about the gerbings riding pants is they have no vents should it warm up later in the day. I bought a spare MC battery and I take it with me into my deer stand. This way I get to use the heated gear while hunting as well. Yes Gerbings sells its own batteries, but a MC battery from wally world is cheaper. In fact, that is where I will be in half an hour. Sitting in my stand at 28 degrees all toasty warm..
  12. I have one now so don't need another. But if I had another RSV, yes, I would want another. RIP Steve!
  13. After being retired for 1 1/2 years, I decided to find a part time gig to fill my time. For the past year I have worked at Lowes part time. It really is a great place to work for retirees wanting a flexible schedule. But it is true what some posted about the younger kids and the turn over rate. I never considered myself an expert at anything regarding home improvement, but have over time done many electrical, plumbing and construction projects around the house. But that simple experience allows me to offer basic help to a lot of folks. I am amazed at the kids who work here that know absolutely nearly zero about home improvement. So next time you are at the big box places... look for the gray hairs.
  14. Craiglist has been good for me as well. Both buying and selling. Sold a jetski and RV recently. I do as others mentioned and I do not list an email address at all. I list a phone number and ask them to either call or text. I make sure I mention "not interested in trades of any sort. Cash only" That cuts down on a lot of the hairbrained propositions I got. Finally, when I list the phone number, I do so like this... Four five six - 555 - one two one two. That seems to help prevent the number from being harvested by bots.
  15. Wear it backwards???
  16. Got 1 with a bow, and one today with my rifle. My son got one also last month. We process our deer ourselves. I want to be sure my sons not only know how to hunt, but how to properly prepare them. We waste almost nothing. What isn't cut up for steak, roast and stew is ground and we make summer and breakfast sausage. For those who are so against hunting deer... I can only assume you are vegetarians to which I respect your decision but not my cup of tea. If you think eating a big mac is more humane than eating venison... I suggest you visit a beef farm sometime.. Our local TWRA agent was telling us last year that TN is concerned about the rapid deer population growth. Youth hunting licenses have been on decline for many years and fewer hunters has led to over population is many areas.
  17. Cowboy, please let us know if the new stator makes everything all good. I am experiencing almost the exact symptoms as you. Not charging properly and the only tests out of spec are my AC readings which seem low. But because I am getting 'equal' low readings, I am being told by others the stator is likely good. FWIW, I currently have the buckeyeperformance stator and it is about 6 years old and has about 50k miles on it.. so if it is bad.. it did pretty well. I am leaning towards a Ricks Motorsports stator from Dennis Kirk due to major cost difference. BTW, I was on The Dragon Friday (yesterday) for a 300 mile test ride. Didn't see any other Ventures. Hope you were able to get out! Thanks.
  18. Just a little update on the Hagon. I dug this thread up while researching the Hagon and was concerned that ordering the heavy duty shock could take way too long. Here is the reply I just got back from Hagon Shocks in CA regarding that... Anyway, seems maybe getting the heavy duty version is not a problem now. I am still undecided, but will post a review if I go with the Hagon. Works must be on drugs to think their shock is worth that much. I don't need a gold plated shock! $469 plus free shipping verses $700 or $800 is a lot of beer! -------------------------------------------- Hi Gary, We find that a lot of people with this bike do ride two-up often, which is why we stock the special build shock as well as the standard one. We could send it out on Monday, so you would have it by next Friday. As I said, we have them in stock and it's 4 days shipping to Tennessee. 19. Congratulations Shane and Dad!! It is very fitting to be proud. Only 5% or less of boys who join scouts ever earn this rank. Many of our nations leaders, past and present as well as many of our heros first demonstrated their leadership by earning this rank. I know well the effort and leadership needed to acquire this difficult goal. My oldest son is just now preparing to submit his eagle project proposal and I hope he has the right stuff to follow through. 20. Still a retiree newbie only having been retireed about 9 months but so far it is great. Lots of yard work and such with a new home, yet still have time to ride, hunt, and fish all I can stand. In June I am taking the family on a one month griswalds RV tour of the US. Something I could not have done while still working the salt mines. Overall... do whatever you want..... but do something. If you start knowing the names of soap opera characters... its time to find a hobby or another job.
  21. Only lost one hickory tree. But we needed to replenish the smoker wood pile anyway, so its all good. Certainly were a lot of warnings though.
  22. Guess Danica got her rear end all mesed up..
  23. Another possibly better solution to dynabeads would be to use Ride-On Sealant ( http://www.ride-on.com/motorcycle-formula-mot.html ). Not only does it seal small punctures, it can also act as a high speed balancer. And I can confirm this stuff works for sealing punctures. I pulled a large nail from a tire with Ride-On with 3k miles on it and the tire held air well until I wore it out. For me, killing two birds with one stone is a better option.
