  1. We missed our time slot. But it was a great ride and trip anyway. We did get a tour of the closed restoration area.
  2. Having hosted several events for other groups out of Canaan Valley, I can say it is a good area to ride. However, there are some limitations. For one, nice dining options other than the lodge are just about non-existent. Gas stations are small and far between. Fueling up 40 bikes could take forever at 4 hole stations that don't take plastic. Just something to consider. For WV.. I think Fayetteville or Beckley, WV makes a excellent location. Good riding, excellent fun roads, and Beckley is not far away for those who want to do shopping etc. Issue would be finding motel and camping options close together.
  3. Mountains of East TN/NC would be good, but that is pretty close to this years event. I like the sound of Sturgis.... but I think Freebird makes an excellent point that there should be someone local to help set things up.
  4. Tom and Jan's. (Seabeetom)
  5. Lisa and I made it safely home. We very much enjoyed our first VentureRider event. It was wonderful to make some new friends that we so hope to meet again soon. Mike, Karen, and Donna... Great job! Thank you so much for making this happen. Orchestrating such a large event out of your own area is no small feat! The folks at Lake Guntersville Powersports also deserve a big thank you for all they did. The only negative is Lisa is now convinced we need a bunkhouse or a similar motorcycle camper... Actually... I know it would make it nicer if we had one. Anyway, here are some of the photos we took of the event. https://www.flickr.com/photos/123265685@N06/sets/72157646048737766/
  6. It was a great pleasure for Lisa and me to meet you and Tippy. We hope to again enjoy your company.
  7. Happy Birthday Chuck
  8. Sorry... I assumed you were on a bike.
  9. I just used one 8 oz bottles for each tire the past 4 tire changes. Seem to be perfectly balanced to me. I do not think the extra oz would make enough difference to buy a third bottle. YMMV
  10. Congrats. I do recommend you use the relay method if you ever get the nerve to tackle the gas tank. Removing the gas tank is really isn't that hard. Just make sure you have an old blanket or couple of towels to lay it on to prevent any dings.
  11. What part number is it? Even if the right one... I do recall I had to work a LITTLE to get mine to fit. But if it seems WAY different.. probably wrong part.
  12. That is the first three wheeled design I've seen that I might ever consider. For now, I figure when I can't ride on two wheels... I'll probably just move to a sporty convertible roadster of some sort. If I can't lean... it just ain't a motorcycle IMHO. This looks very interesting!
  13. That stinks! I hope this can be resolved quickly so you can still make it...
  14. Get on I-81, stay on it to Marion Va. Take Rt16 from Marion, VA to Beckley, WV. At Beckley pick which interstate gets you to where you need to be. This route will clearly take you longer, but Rt16 is a simply wonderful ride. In fact the first 33 miles is refered to as 'Back of the Dragon'. If you want a t-shirt for the ride... stop in Thompson Country Store shortly before you get to Tazewell, VA
  15. Hockey pucks make the perfect 'adapter' for using a Sears motorcycle jack on our Venturers.
  16. You can not engage cruise control above 80mph... HOWEVER... you CAN engage below that speed.... then use the accel to speed up to beyond 80mph and keep cruise on.
  17. Have them. Wife does not use them often, but it does give her a welcome position change on long rides. I actually installed them some years ago for my kids when they were little. I tightened them down in the straight up position and it gave them a place to plant their feet. Only issue I have with them is if my wife is using them, I try to remind her to pull them up as we slow to a stop as if her feet are on them, it can interfere with me planting my feet. Also backing up with them down can be a pain. Anyway, they are well made and they do work as expected.
  18. Bad door seal was my thought also. I DO NOT repair appliances... but do sell a lot at Lowes and take a lot of calls for service. This turns out to be one of the more common repairs we see needed. My wife and I had an upright freezer that this happened to also.
  19. You have any idea yet where you might ride each day and about when you will be KSU? I hope to try to get up early and do a ride with y'all.
  20. I would do neither. I use Ride-On. http://www.ride-on.com Not only does this balance, it gives you puncture protection that I know works as it has sealed a nail hole for me before.
  21. Mine has been on for 20,000 miles or 1 1/2 years. When you order a Hagon, they will ask you your weights and how you normally travel. For me I told them our weights and that I normally ride 2-up. I also said that probably 1/4 of my miles is pulling a fully loaded trailer. As I understand... anyone who normally rides 2-up will most likely benefit from the HD version which is $469. I think the standard is only $399
  22. I suggest the Yamaha version made for the bike. It has form fitting metal strips that evenly distribute weight and reduce the chance of cracking. I would avoid the racks made for Wings or are generic with simply four legs screwed into the plastic. Even with large washers I would avoid. But YMMV...
  23. I put on the Hagon heavy Duty shock ($469 to my door) and am very happy with it. Near as I can tell... you get same as you get with the Works Shock at a much better price. Both rebuild-able, same warranty. No regrets with my Hagon!
