    Ugh... Just my luck. Just washed up from installing my new Baron's riser extensions. One of you guys will probably pick these up. Lots less than the least expensive source I could find. I am SEMI happy with the way they fit. At full lock, they deform the tupperware around the ignition switch. I guess this is why they make a disclaimer about chrome ignition switch surrounds. At the very worst, the plastic will break. That's still lots cheaper than new handlebars, cables, hydraulic lines, etc. Thats the bad. The good is that now I can ride without any worry about the brake or clutch levers binding on my big old knees. The bike fits me a lot better. We'll be going on a long ride on Sunday to check it out!

    Wow! Thanks for all the great responses. I'm thinking about going with it and doing it Playboy's way with the polished aluminum strips. I'm handier than I am rich or handsome. I'll keep you posted and post pics when it happens. Bert

    Susan found this for me today on ebay, and I figured I better run it by you fellers before buying it. There is precious little info like dimensions, etc. but the price is right, and it is stainless, so no issue with cheap chrome. I'd rather have the Yamaha part, but they are pretty $$$pendy...     Had it for a few years, but I think it came from autozone. Just remembered I had it AFTER I switched batteries in the bike, and lost all my presets... ugh. Hooked it up and disconnected the battery again, just to check, and it worked like a champ.

    Anybody besides me have one of these gadgets? You plug it into your cig. lighter before you disconnect the battery, and it saves all your radio/clock settings. Nice and cheap, too!

    As an old car guy, I hafta say it... I really think Barret-Jackson has ruined the old car game. It is now a rich guy's world. The only way a regular joe can afford to have a cool old car is to inherit it or build it up from total junk. Another thing is, now every desert rat who has a collection of yard ornaments now believes they are worth a fortune. That may be in some cases, but not all. Sometimes junk is junk. Sorry for the rant, but I been wrenching on rust buckets all my life, and I love it. Sad to see rich guys monopolizing something I hold so dear. Bert

    All good suggestions. Thank you all. My leg length is mostly from my feet to my knees, so moving back MIGHT even make it worse...? I think I'm gonna try the riser adapters first, simply because they are the least expensive change I can find. If they don't help, I'll start trying other alternatives, I guess. Thanks. Bert

    Man... I used to be involved in building old style FE big block Ford motors, and I kinda thought I'd heard the last about zinc additives in oil. Never realized that it would apply to mc engines. Last for me was Rotella, also. The holy grail of ZDP. Now they have dropped the zinc for Diesel engines? I guess the new ones run cats also. So, Mobil1 mc oil has zinc? Somehow the EPA has made concessions for motorcycles? No bikes have catalytic convertors? Does Yamalube have ZDP?

    Hey, fellas. I have put about 1000 miles on the new bike so far, and I love it. I only have one complaint about the way it fits me. I am very long legged (38 inch inseam). When I am doing slow speed parking lot maneuvers, sometimes the bars go full-lock. That's when the clutch or brake lever digs into the top of my leg. I have tilted the bars all the way forward, and also tilted the brake & clutch levers as far as I can, safely, and the problem still persists. Also, after a long ride, I find my neck to be hurting more than on the old bike. I think I'm reaching farther forward on this one.     Ugh... I had almost forgotten heel spurs. Never went to the doctor for cortisone, but my dad and sister had them, so it figured that was what was wrong with me. It just seemed to take time to wear them in. A lot of tolerance for pain is a bonus, too. I was a delivery driver at the time, so I walked a LOT. Seems like it took about a year to clear up.     Susan & I got our headsets from Scalarider. At first we were disappointed, because they didn't seem to work right. It took a while to get the speakers into the right location in the helmet, so they are actually over our ears. There were other issues like how to operate the volume, and how to keep your bluetooth phone from interrupting conversation. Our set didn't have a good manual, but if yours does, I'd suggest studying it before giving up. Bert

    Man, you said a mouthful, Micarl. I've been driving semi-trucks for 32 years, and only a little over a year ago started riding a mc. It's the SAME person I have to watch for. I've been saving peoples lives by watching for their ignorant mistakes all my life. Turns out the upside is that it made me a fairly good rider by default. Some driver friends tried to explain this to me, but it took experience to make me believe it.

    Around these parts, I'd expect to see some gearhead cram a smallblock, a th350, and a ford 9" into that buggar and take it to the drag strip. Got any teenagers?

    Since you are in Tucson, I'd highly recommend the Ace on 22nd near Kolb. There's a guy in there older than me who knows how to make keys. Ashamed to say I don't know his name. 'bout $1.50.

    That is a COOL truck. And modern power & brakes so it can at least be sort of safe in traffic. What motor is in there?

    It hasn't run in years, but with some gas and fresh oil, a battery... I think I could be driving in a week. Surprisingly, the body is pretty straight. Very little work to bring it to where it could support gloss black. All the parts like a new top, upholstery, seat springs, headlight parts, etc. are up in the rafters. Like a great big model car kit waiting to be built, then driven 35 mph. Lots of fun, but kinda slow.

    OK, I'm back. We took a week and went to NYC to see the ball drop. What a scene. Bucket list for sure, but we'll never do it again. Sorry for the late response. Here are a few pics of the Model T. It is a '26, although it is titled as a '25. My dad bought it in the late '70s as a retirement project. By the time he got around to retiring, he was sick of looking at it, so when he died in '99, I inherited it. I figure it will be about 100 years old when I am ready to retire. If I get sick of it, maybe MY kid can get sick of it someday, too! haha.

    I peeled them off the outside of the forks yesterday. I guess I am just still being surprised at how "brand new" this 4 year old bike is. Going to break 150 miles today. Some of the pitting in the chrome is still visible, but man, she polished up nice.
