  1. That is a very slick gadget. Might have to get one.
  2. I just did a quick ebay motors search for "LED third brake light, and there is a TON. This is the one that most closely resembles mine, except for some minor differences. Same dimensions: http://www.ebay.com/itm/29-LED-Car-Auto-Pickup-SUV-Truck-Van-Universal-3rd-Third-Brake-Tail-Light-/150765240410?hash=item231a4f005a&item=150765240410&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_3607wt_786 Good luck.
  3. Yes, just a couple little pieces of flat stock mounted under the helmet locks, then a couple little nylon bushings to make up the difference. And yes, it is only a brake light. No running light capability. I'm sure there are a lot of similar items out there. I think this was marketed as a "third" brake light for cars. I'd been walking around calling it that when my smart ass kid informed me that "Technically, it's a second brake light". heh heh heh.
  4. The light came from Autozone, I think, maybe 10 years ago. It hung in the back window of my '68 Ford LTD for a few years, but I couldn't keep it tight with the supplied bracketry, without drilling holes in my sweet old car. So, the light has been languishing, waiting for an RSV to come along, since it seems to have been made for it. Thanks again, Playboy, for the quick response.
  5. Thank you very much, my friend! I knew I came to the right place.
  6. I am installing an LED brake light I have laying around from another project. It fits the Midnight like it was made for it! got lucky there. Where is an easy place to splice into the brake light circuit without a lot of trauma to the wiring harness? I started taking the seats off, looking for whatever I might find, then remembered about this forum. I did some searching, but mostly the results were about lights that also had turn signals. I just need the brake light wire. Thanks, Bert
  7. ditto...
  8. I'm 6'6", 240#, and in the MSF class on a Honda Rebel 250 Those buggars said I looked like a shriner in a parade! You'll never catch me saying mean things about how a big guy looks on a small bike! lol
  9. Man, I don't know what kind of helmet you have, but I wish I had one. A new visor for my Scorpion EXO1000 runs $54 plus shipping. I guess I'll try toothpaste before I start shopping for plastic polish. HA!
  10. I have some minor scratches on my helmet visor that I'd like to try to polish out. Does anybody know what might work? I'd like to try before I buy a replacement, so I wanna keep it cheap. Seems I remember hearing somebody say they used toothpaste on hard plastic, but I'm a little afraid it would be too abrasive and leave it scratched worse. Any thoughts? Thanks. Bert
  11. Did you read the comments at the bottom of the page? Pretty hilarious...
  12. most importantly, after the repair is made, look for WHY it cracked in the first place. That just aint right.
  13. Nahhhh..... Couldn't be.... Do ya think?
  14. I'd sell the Pontiac & use the profit to fix the Ford. What year Mustang, and how bad is it?
  15. The warranty would be the deal maker/breaker for me. Our '07 is warranted until 2015 because the first owner didn't take possession until 2010.
  16. I will say this. That wheel chock is the exact unit from Harbor Freight that I got. I was worried that the front tire would be too fat, and that the thing would just be too flimsy. No worry necessary. It fit perfect, and is very solid. I think tongue weight would be an issue with the short trailer. Might just not unhook the trailer while loaded. Just be sure to unload the bike first.
  17. Here's a couple pics of our RSV in Monterey when we picked it up. In a VERY full 8 x 4 trailer. Left the back gate at home.
  18. That is a nice looking rig.
  19. For about 15 bucks a year, towing insurance is how I'll transport a bike in a pinch. Got towing companies on speed dial, just in case. Trailering and towing just about any vehicle is a pain in the neck. That's my 2 cents.
  20. I did a google search on your part # and it looks like maybe a grommet for the valve covers? Try a search on that number & see what you come up with. Looks like a lot of Yamahas use the same part. Wonder if something like that really needs replaced with just a valve adjustment...
  21. Yes A few of them years turned into a few of them decades... lol. Sometimes its nice to be able to escape to the garage when things go wrong at home. Sometimes its ok to shut the garage door and go for a ride when things go wrong in the garage.
  22. mabeline, a.k.a. Conrad: Yes the problem is solved. Now the clutch and brake levers clear my legs easily. This for me was an inexpensive way to avoid replacing the handlebars. Besides too long legs, I also have a bum right shoulder. This mod brought the grips back towards my chest a little, so I am hoping for a little more comfort there, too. Give it a whirl. I spotted some real cheap barons riser extensions, used from Pinwall on ebay yesterday.
  23. From what I have read, the biggest thing is the rear shock. Many have been replaced under warranty. Enough that these guys want a recall. The warranty starts the day the bike left the showroom. Our 2007 has warranty until 2015 because the previous owner bought it in 2010. How it sat there that long I don't know. To determine warranty, just call the dealership with the VIN#. To transfer warranty, just provide proof of ownership. They didn't even want to see the bike. Good luck. Bert
  24. I just installed these yesterday. I found that when I removed the cover there was a grommet in the frame the plastic cover snapped into. I removed this, and also removed the grommet around the ignition switch. The risers still bend the plastic, but it seems to put less strain on the whole megilla, now with the rubber parts removed.
  25. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. And yes, Wanderer, I am a commercial driver. 32 years now. And yes I have a dark left arm. hahaha
