  1. I just hope that the Indianapolis Colts beat the Baltimore Ravens in the first round. Hmm-m-m-m, lets see---- the Colts were in Baltimore, the Ravens were the Cleveland Browns, deep down I'm a Browns fan, but the current Browns have room for a little (or is that a lot of?)improvement. Anyway, no love lost between the Baltimore fans and the Indy Colts. Sad part is that the Colts at 11-5 have to give up home field advantage to the Ravens at 10-6.
  2. I'm curious why your header says you hate contractors. Maybe you are commenting about the original builders? The crew you have working on it now seems to be OK. Apparently they did hustle to get one side completed, and you seem to be pleased with what's been accomplished so far. Just wonderin'.
  3. One thing of importance is if it has electronic ignition or does it have a pilot light? Probably not a just pilot light, but if I remember correctly, the electronic ignition first lights a pilot, then it lights the main burner. Pilot light has to heat the thermocouple before the main burner valve will open. The thermocouple is a kind of safety device that assures that the pilot is lit before releasing gas through the main burner valve. I would think that their best bet would be to bite the bullet and call a licensed repair service. Gas heaters can be seriously dangerous if not working properly. P.S. You say they are sharing a house. If they are renting, they should contact the landlord right away and have him take care of it. Please let us know how they resolve it.
  4. We have a family gathering at a sister-in law's condo today, about a 15 minute drive. 8:05 AM, I ask my wife, "What time are we due at Cindy's?" The answer----hang on, here it comes---- "We can't go until the potatoes are done." Now, I'm 75 years old, on my second and last marriage. I've been getting answers similar to this from the both of 'em since 1964. All this experience and I still do not understand the logic of our precious ladies. HELP!
  5. Yesterday (Wednesday) morning at Meijer store on East 96th St. in Indianapolis, with $.10 discount we paid $2.899. I don't remember the last time it was below $3.00. But there's lots of things I don't remember any more, so it may have been sometime recently.
  6. Just for your consideration, you can take a look at what I installed. These little horns are really loud. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52836
  7. Does Texas have a requirement (law) for proof of insurance before registration is given? I haven't spent much time in Texas since the early 60's in the Air Force, but I seem to remember that you had to have insurance before plates/registration would be issued.
  8. The AMA is really strong into off-road/competition, but also a lot of street news and information. They are very strong advocates for motorcycle/motorcyclists rights both street and off-road. They have some perks (like towing, etc.) but the reason I paid for continuous 25 year active membership (now a 48 year member) was not for what they could do for me, but rather what they can do for the motorcycling community. Lobbying and defending our rights is a big thing with the AMA and what they accomplish is not just for their members, but all motorcyclists. Well deserving of your support, and the support of anyone who enjoys riding.

Maybe he could just delete the previous one(s)?
  10. Have to mention that Wisconsin did finish 3rd in it's division of the Big 10. They stomped Nebraska in the championship game, but their season was not a overwhelming success. Penn State should probably have been in that game, none of the players were involved in that mess and should not have been punished the way they were. Ohio State was deservedly forbidden from post season, those kids over there were real jerks, and coach Trestle worse for covering it up. And I'm a Buckeye fan, born and raised in Ohio. Woody Hayes was the speaker at one of my high school sports banquets. (That was a lo-o-o-ong time ago) Wisconsin has given Ohio State fits for a few years now. Of course, the Big 10 is about to become the Big14, and we know it's all about the $$$. The coaches have the same mentality.
  11. The upshift points are minimum speeds to move up to the next higher gear. Most of us would exceed those on a regular basis, this engine loves higher RPM's. Down shifting is all shown at 16 MPH, which is rediculous. Down shift when you feel comfortable to do so or feel the need for more power, keeping the RPM's up. I always blip the throttle a little with the clutch disengaged to try to match engine speed to the next lower gear. Maybe their down shift recommendation is for when coming to a complete stop.
  12. I'm confused! (doesn't take much) How does "totally naked" and "toga party" work?
  13. What's a xmas?
  14. How fast did the Cushman turn the 1/4? I'd guess if it was in the 12's you'd be satisfied.
  15. Yeh, but does he have any cassettes? He'll have to adjust to that too, you know.
  16. We live some distance from the disaster (It was in southeast Indy, we are in the northeast corner of Indy). How tragic, it is big time news on the local TV news reports. Also, we live in a total electric subdivision. Wife has a phobia about gas. (No smart a$$ remarks please). I do have propane for the grill. They have the NTSB involved in the investigation because they regulate transporting of natural gas. This evening's news seems to indicate the possibility of a faulty furnace. No one was home in the dwelling that exploded, but the couple next door were killed. They describe it as looking like a war zone and the pictures and videos confirm that.
  17. How about the good LUCK the Colts are having?
  18. I hope this doesn't turn political!
  19. I don't know of any bike that uses tranny fluid. Geeez----- I'd guess the son is driving a cage. I didn't see that the OP say anything about a bike.
  20. '57 Chevy in the background? Maybe a Bel Air?
  21. Must be the balmy weather and safe, law abiding neighborhoods.
  22. Got a text msg. on my cell--- My entry last month has won! Tells me to go to BestBuyRaffle.com and enter my winning code number XXXX to claim my FREE $1000 BestBuy gift card within 24 hrs. Watcha think guys (and gals)? Real deal or ???? I, of course, don't remember last week, let alone last month. I went to BestBuy's web site and emailed customer service asking if it might be legit, knowing full well that there's a 99.9 % chance that it's bogus.

So, what's wrong with the Tigers?
  24. In the pic of the coupler hooked up to the hitch ball---- It looks like there are no spacers (washers) installed between the tongue and the coupler. The tongue is a little narrower than the coupler, resulting in the coupler being somewhat distorted when the attaching bolts and nuts are tightened. Most of us have installed a washer or two on each side of each bolt (between the tongue and coupler) to avoid bending the coupler. I think someone reported having trouble with the latching mechanism balking at being engaged because of the distortion.

Perhaps you could leave your boyfriend home just once, then you and your daughter could ride.
