1. Well, it finally got started and their forecasts are coming to fruition. Lots of heavy, wet snow and really bad conditions. Makes me thankful to be retired and able to choose to not go out. Central Indiana is getting it's share of weather out of this huge system. I can hear sirens right now here in the Castleton area of northeast Indy. Looks like we have 3 to 4 inches, strong easterly wind, and a lot more snow to come. It's just plain nasty. Now all you southerners can take your best shots.
2. Oh, that poor ill-advised youngster!
3. To recap: I got my progressive insurance transferred to my newly acquired 2007 RSV from a V-star 650. $790 a year, and for minimal coverage! I have gone to AARP Foremost and got it for less than HALF!!! So-o-o I upgraded to much better coverage and still paying over $300 less than Progressive wanted. I think the Progressive agent could see my smile when I phoned her to cancel.
4. O.K. here we are in Indianapolis and we just brought home the 2007 RSV. Used email to submit info. for changing existing insurance from a 650 V-star to the Venture. Have existing policy with Progressive. New quote is $760 a year!!! So-o-o, I submitted a request for quote to a different web site, got back a quote for Dairyland Insurance for $537.84, big difference. Any input about who writes your insurance, cost, etc. (especially from hoosiers) would be appreciated. $760 a year seems to be very high, considering we can only ride about 7-8 months a year. Oh, yeh--- I love my new used Venture. Quite a bit different than the '84 VR that I got rid of in 2004. I've only ridden about 25 miles on it so far, but I'm glad to be back on a Venture.
5. I read it again, maybe it is a Royal Star. Their header says V-Star and that set off a mental alarm.
6. This is a V-Star air cooled , not a Royal Star liquid cooled!!! Totally different motorcycle.
7. I had a pair of these on my Vstar 650. Lots of open places to mount them, and they were LOUD at 109 Db. Reasonably priced and the pair only draws 6 amps. I'm thinking about trying to install a pair in the passing lamp light bar area or near the air deflectors on the forks where they would be out in the open and not muffled by a fairing or cowling. It may take fabricating some different mounting brackets, but it looks like it's doable. Comments? http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/AFI-10001/ Oops, tried to insert a pic but it didn't work. :Venture:http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/AFI-10001/graphics/00000001/AFI-10001_med.jpg
8. Hm-m-m-m, when I was five years old all the saints had something to do with religion!
9. New-to-me '07 RSV. I can see one horn down on the right side behind the RH floorboard. I can hear the other one but have not been able to see it. It's down somewhere in front of the engine? Maybe I'll have to lie down on the floor to see it from underneath? Now I know why so many posts about replacing the stock horns. A decent bell might be louder!
10. Can one of you smart folks out there tell what these are? Left rear cylinder has a chromed wire loop and a small curved chrome plate on top. Right rear cylinder has a chromed wire loop on top. I'm baffled! Thanks to anyone who solves my mystery.
11. Oh, look, pictures!!!
12. Trying to show pics, guess I'm not smart enough to import them. I'll keep working on it. Anyway the 2007 RSV is now in my garage! Accessories are: light bar, radiator grill, saddle bag rails, trunk rack, and LED light bar under the trunk. Sure is nice. Next door neighbor thought it was brand new.
13. Boy, am I lucky!!! No surgery, not buried by snow, AND tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new used 2007 RSV. Boy, am I lucky!!! Rode a 1984 VR until 2004, have been on a VSTAR 650 since then. I can hardly wait to get those 4 cylinders going under me again. Boy, am I lucky!!! Lots of things different on the RSV, but also lots of the same with the power, smoothness and the feeling of wanting to ride from sunup to sunset. Boy am I lucky!!! Temp. here in Indy is supposed to be around 50 degrees F tomorrow PM. Boy, am I lucky!!!
14. For what it's worth------- if the fuel tank is dirty or contaminated you can clean the carbs and fuel pump forever but they will get clogged up again. I had this problem on my '84 VR, had the tank cleaned and some kind of coating applied along with the carbs being cleaned and the problem was gone. Mel
