NEW LED highway lights 8W each 120 Lumens
Mel replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
From what I see in Seaking's pics, anyone who has a shop/garage that clean and neat should just sit on their bike, go "Vroom-Vroom", and never VENTURE out, so no need for modified lighting! -
And that big "V" on the back might also mean -------?

I got memories of my dad and grampa walking the railroad tracks looking for/picking up coal. Wasn't anyone giving it away at that time.

The people in this group are uhhh, rediculous, awesome, outrageous, uhhh, can't think of all the correct adjectives. Where else would someone get responses like this from comrades you have never met? KG, if jim doesn't find the freebie for me, I'll PM you about yours. Thanks to both of you!:ice_awesome-vi46644

Yep, it got steady 28 to 30 on the interstate, sometimes up around 31. Hardly anyone would believe me when I would tell them that. That V-6 was a surprise for economy.

Any suggestions on where to look to buy a Zero to 30 PSI hand pump for the front fork air suspension. Most places seem to be high $ for the Progressive pump. I do the rear shock by starting up my compressor, running it up to 45 PSI and shutting it off. Then I fill the rear shock until the pressure is balanced between the shock and the compressor.

Had a 99 buick Regal, put 99,000 miles on it, was still running good. I think $5,000 may be a little high for being 12 years old. Of course none of these newer (?) ones hold a candle to the '56 Buick Super 4 dr. hardtop I had back in 1959/1960. Wish I had it now! Nail head V-8, Dyna Flow tranny, MAYBE 15 MPG. But I could afford to buy gasoline then. Those were the days!

As your rain storms trek across our great land, they change, you know, into snow. Come visit us, and you too can experience what we mid-westerners have enjoyed for a long, long time. :sleigh: Looks like a lo-o-o-ong winter!

Try it with 'em one way, if'n it don't look right, or feel right, or fit right, SWITCH 'EM! Sorry, mine is covered, tank is full and sea-foamed, battery tender is attached, and we have 7 or 8 inches of snow on the ground. Isn't it amazing how the little problems can cause such huge delays in a project. Uhh, now where is the "enter" key? __________________

I visited Montreal Expo 67 on my R69S BMW. Went with a buddy on his Hardly and had to stop over in Buffalo N.Y. to get a bent push rod on the 74 cubic incher fixed. The WORD back then was spelled word.

Man, what a life. Vacation just before the holiday season. I'm retired now, but I don't remember having it that good when I was working. Congratulations on your chance to get away to a vacation paradise for a few days. How's the ice cream up there? Are the DQ's open? :sleigh:

Interesting buffalo nickel. I also have a 1937 one, it's in a necklace. It was given to me by a group of guys that worked for me at an automotive plant, commemorates my birth year. I have cherished it for a long time, got it in 1980 when I resigned to move on to another job. This was a U.A.W plant, and any of you who have worked union or managed/supervised in a union plant know that there was lots of animosity between union/managment during those years. I was pleased that they thought enough of me to honor me with it. Or maybe they were just glad I was going?!? Anyway, that's a good looking leather piece, and the coin looks to be in pretty good condition. I have heard that those coins are only worth $.04 because, if you look at both sides of the coin, the indian's nose is directly below the buffalo's tail and the indian gets the first scent. Just my $.04 worth. :2cents:

It is plastic, not sure if ABS or what. Top half is pebble grain, bottom is smooth. No idea why they did it that way. Maybe your best bet would be paint made specifically for plastic (Krylon makes one I think). Problem would be trying to color match the towing vehicle. There are some paint & body guys that are members, maybe you will get a more professional answer from one of them.

This quote is from my thread 06-29-2010. Quote: Got my Harbor Freight Tag-Along trailer today at their store on E. 86th St. in Indy. Reg. price $399.99, on sale $329.99, 20% off coupon = $263.99 + $18.48 sales tax, total out-the-door $282.47. Had a busy schedule today, so have only done a partial assembly. Looks like some of the comments about cheap latches, etc. are pretty accurate, but I think it will probably work O.K. for me. I'll post again later after it's all together and I get a chance to use it. We have since taken it on two trips, the longest was about 600 miles. I did repack the wheel bearings as suggested by several members here. A lot of interstate miles (read 75 to 80 MPH) and it tows fine with no mechanical problems. I know I topped 80 one time when I hit 3rd, then 4th when passing a line of cagers on a two lane. I changed the lights to LEDs, changed the lock to a better quality one, and carpeted the inside. I had a problem with the latches wanting to come off when not latched, so I drilled a small hole in each of the latch mounting brackets and secured them with small zip-ties. I will admit that this is not the best looking trailer available, but it certainly fit my fixed (retired) income much better than those others. And it does all that I want it to do. Seems to be aerodynamic and I hardly know it is back there. AND I DON'T THINK IT LOOKS "BILLYBOB" whatever that means! Must be millwright terminology.

Wa-a-a-ay back in the early '70s I drag raced a HIGHLY modified 1970 CB 750 Honda. This was at Milan MI, Toledo and Marion OH, Bowling Green KY. Ran a street modified class, had to have working lights, use a treaded tire, (no slick), etc. Had to run in a displacement class, was allowed a 10% weight reduction from factory stated weight. We ran 11.6's @ 119+ MPH. I broke a AMDRA (American Motorcycle Drag Race Assn.) record running at Marion in 1972. I think the Venture should be capable of 13's with the proper technique and an experienced rider. V MAX rear end would definitely help. When you are riding your own touring machine you tend to be hesitant about trying to light up the rear tire and really busting a launch off the line. 'Specially if you plan to ride it home. Plus, I think all of those blue lights must have slowed down the Venture.

I also built my own adapter from materials I had (an extra overhead garage door T shaped rail). It was more than 1 1/4" and would not fit under the low (left) side of the bike. I put a small block of wood under the side stand and that lifted the ieft side enough to clear the adapter. Have to remember to use the wood block when lowering the bike so as to allow the lift/adapter to be removed. Just my $.02.

I'm having trouble getting access to a Dodge forum. I know many of you are experienced with other than Ventures/Yamaha. I have a 2005 Dakota, 4.7 V8, 4 wheel drive. Low mileage, under 30,000. My problem is with the power steering. When it is cold, the power steering is "stiff", difficult to turn the steering wheel. It is slow returning to center, I have to steer it back to center. I feels kind of "jumpy" with little surges of power assist. As it warms up, the problem diminishes, and eventually virtually disappears. In warm weather as the engine warms more quickly, the problem also goes away more quickly. I'm looking for suggestions as to what the problem may be. I have limited mechanical resources. I've thought of trying to change the fluid, but don't know how I would get all of the old fluid out of the system.

Glad the recovery is going so well, but can you reach the handlebars yet? Maybe that should be part of the rehab.

I see several sources for the ChatterBox DNR Touring kit at around $85.00. Anyone using this? Seems like an economical way to go if it works OK. The reviews I've looked at seem to say it's OK, but I trust the responses here more than on the sales web sites. Motorcycle Superstore has free shipping right now too.
