Chrome Trunk Frame.....
Mel replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
(_ALMOST_) It would help if we had a visual on this. I guess the trunk has to be removed in order to see the problem? -

Just as I suspected earlier, 823 years is a whole bunch of feng shui! P.S. I think "feng" is chinese for "horse"
-
I still contend that I do not have a weight situation, just a height problem.

Sounds like a whole bunch of feng shui to me. $$$$

This matter is between me and another member. This is the way I chose to handle it. I probably could have handled it differently (better?), but I didn't. No other member should feel at jeopardy. Mr. Freebird and I have discussed it, unfortunately I have put him in the middle of what is mostly between me and another. Mr. Freebird, please feel free to delete this thread if you so choose. Additionally, if you choose to comment and/or clarify in order to ease the other members anxiety please do so.

I regret to say that I have removed myself from offering VR assistance. In order to provide assistance I have to post my phone numbers(s) for contact purpose. It's too bad that someone chooses to use the phone number information for something other than to request assistance. One rotten apple CAN spoil the whole bushel.

If yor're gonna quote me I'd appreciate it if you would not edit out part of it. That partial quote does not convey the whole message! What a scary looking weapon! No-no-no, I mean the RIFLE! Boy, I'm probably in trouble now, huh?

Anybody know if there is LO JACK for m'cycle?
-
Didn't have a Venture stolen, but the first week of March, 1972 I had ridden my 1970 CB 750 Honda from Toledo, OH to Daytona, FL for m'cycle speed week. My buddy was on his Harley 74, we were staying in Kissimee, FL at his sister's place. Long story, short version: they got my Honda which was parked right beside his Harley. Two days after it was gone we went to the police station and asked if there was any news. The desk officer said "They got mine about 6 months ago, haven't found it yet. Forget it, file your insurance claim." I flew home on a big aluminum bird, Jim rode home alone. I replaced it with a 1971, but it was never quite the same.

Around 50 years of riding, LOTS OF 2-up time. I never thought of it as a problem or something to be planned. Side stand down, I get on, I'm in control of the bike. Passenger gets on, sometimes uses the rear footpeg/floorboard or not depending on height, athleticism, what bike, etc. Most of the time (I have to think about this) I guess I do put some of the weight of the bike on my left leg. My passenger grabs my left arm for an assist when getting on or off. I'm 73, my passenger is not far behind (age, that is) and we just take our time and use some caution. With the RSV it does take some grunt to hoist it upright, and you want to be sure that the sidestand is down when unloading. That being said, I am looking at some kind of trike conversion to help with the slow speed/stopped handling. Between the two of us we're probably putting 370 pounds on the seats, and the RSV is a little top heavy anyway. Here's what I'd like to get, but they say they do not make it to fit RSV. Darn, darn, darn! But I'm working on 'em. Maybe they would change their mind with a few more inquiries from Royal Star owners? http://www.trikealternative.com/retractatrike.shtml

This is a pic of the floor of my '07 RSV travel trunk. Are these the metal plates in question? Is it safe for me to assume (yeh, I know) that mine either was shipped with the kit already installed or that the PO installed a kit? These plates are (obviously) black, another pic looked like the plates had some kind of bright finish. If this is the right thing and it's the way it should be, it might help others understand how it looks after the repair kit is installed.

I got divorced at 71 after almost 44 years of marriage, 2 sons (obviously both now adults), and many years of a good life. Things happen. Our interests after I retired simply were not the same and we both started pursuing different goals. We eventually were almost like strangers living under the same roof. I then got married at age 72 to my high school sweetheart who was now 71. She, of course had been married, had family, but was now available. We rekindled old flames and I can figure out why your friend is getting married at 72. Life is good, life is short, have to enjoy it now. Just wish him good luck and a wonderful new life. Mel (Had to sign it, my cute little signature is go-o-o-one)

If I had the $ back then, it would have been a Salsbury. As a step-through scooter I think they were the slickest thing on the road. Had a (farmer) friend that had the cash to afford one, man that thing was fast. Unfortunately my budget in the early to mid fifties was lucky to handle a used Schwinn! Finally got my 1st car in '56, a '47 Chevy, paid $75 for it.

INDOT uses a private contractor to paint the stripes on the state highways. The contractor boss hired a guy to paint the center stripe on a little used stretch of road. On the first day the guy painted about a mile-and-a-half of road and the boss told him "Good job, see you in the morning". The next day the guy painted only about three quarters-of-a-mile and the boss told him "Hey, you didn't do so good today, let's hope tomorrow is better". On the third day he only paints about a quarter-of-a-mile. The boss says "Well you have really slacked off. This is unacceptable. I'm going to have to let you go". The guy responds,"That's not fair!!! The more I paint the farther I have to walk to get to the paint bucket!".
