Some of you will understand, some won't. If you don't, trust me, it doesn't matter.

It does an amazing disappearing act when you have two granddaughters (ages 15 and 10) over for the day. And for what that stuff costs, I now know why both of their parents are working. Maybe this belongs in jokes and humor, but I'm not sure it's all that humorous. But, we love 'em!

Question was asked about fork mounted fairing on RSV vs frame mount on the GW. I rode a '84 Venture Royale 20 years so frame mount is not new. I had my '07 RSV for a little more than a year. I find that there is less steering input from cross winds and/or wind blast from the big rigs on the freeway on the GW. My new-to-me '07 GL1800 has a really tall Tulsa Enterprises wind screen, installed by the PO. Very little helmet buffeting, but I have to look through the wind screen. I agree that the GL1800 feels (and is) lower, more "nimble", easier to handle.

Hello all, Following is a copy of an email I just got from my son. He had some tough times when he was younger, really got himself straightened out, now 37 years old. Active with the Salvation Army, has been managing a half-way-house while working full time. I'm asking for your prayers for him and Ally. This is tough for anyone to face. They need all the help they can get. Thanks for reading. Mel Hi my brothers and sisters, You may be family, a close friend, or an acquaintance, but I am emailing you today because I believe, you are a believer in Jesus. If you don't know, I am in love with my wonderful, beautiful, Jesus loving girlfriend...her name is Alisha, we call her Ally. Ally has Hepatitis C. Pride, shame, the enemy, whatever, would like us to keep this quiet, but that is not going to happen. Today Thursday March 24th at 3:30 we will be at a doctors appointment with a specialist to discuss treatment options. In James Chapter 5:13-16 the Word says: (13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.) I'm sure I will get comments about the translation I used but whatever, look it up in your own bible. http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/09.gif Obviously we are praying but, here's the deal. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you are made righteous. Your prayers are powerful and we need your help. Sometimes it's hard to create passion in another for something/someone they are not invested in, that being said, I covet your crazy, passionate, crying out, nonstop, pleading prayers to God in this. Please pray however you feel led, healing, wisdom in decision making, whatever the Lord puts on your heart. If He speaks to you about this please let us know. My very close friend Tony just lost his brother Dan to this disease a few days ago, please pray for those left behind and hurting. I have much more about this on my heart, but I am at a loss for words. John 3:30 Love, Patrick

Well, I went and switched to a GL1800, I've had it about 10 days now. Lower seat and center of gravity, a lot easier for me to handle, especially two-up. Maybe more about that later. Now to the subject of this thread. I signed on to a couple of Gold Wing forum sites, looking for hints, advice, places to buy safety chrome, etc. So I started a thread at this one site with the subject box content "Wingstuff.com". I proceeded to ask if anyone used them to buy goodies and what they thought about their prices, service, etc.--- Same kind of stuff we discuss here all the time. HAH! I got several decent responses, then all hell broke loose. It seems as though the reason that there is no membership fee (in other words free) is because the site is owned and paid for by a big aftermarket vendor. Yes, I said owned. They are a full blown "have almost everything" vendor. On the home page their banner shows as a sponsor, not "owner", with some smaller banner sponsors also shown. The smaller ones are not directly competitive with the owner, that is not allowed. They offer different goods and/or services. Now comes the good part. The moderator works for the vendor! So, along with him, several members unloaded on me for daring to mention a competitor on their site. After a lot of bantering, name calling and expressions of ill will, the thread got deleted. Some of the other members expressed some support for the "newbie" and some thought the others were way too harsh, but the end result is you must conform to their rules. My way or go away. Be very pleased and happy to pay your $12 a year and have a site that is "by the membership, for the membership"! This site occasionally has some minor conflicts and the boss has to step in, but believe me, this place is wonderful compared to what I have just experienced. I know that there are some really good guys on that site, but I ain't gonna be there. Congratulations to the members, moderators, and administrators of this site. An enjoyable place to visit. I have totally enjoyed being a member here. I'm done.

Well after a lot of tough decision making, my beautiful '07 RSV is now somone else's ride. The GL 1800 is a lot more comfortable (for me) with it's lower center of gravity. I feel much more confident on it, 'specially when riding two up. Seat height is a little shorter also, and I can put my feet flat on the ground. Here is my problem. I installed a Kuryakyn heel-toe shifter and it included a shiny chrome plated left foot peg mount (bracket). The bike still has a dull grey OEM mount on the right side. I tried to buy just the right side mount, but the customer rep at Kury said no way, only way to get one is to buy their kit that has both left and right mounts, and use just the one. I tried to convince them that they should either put one in the heel-toe shifter kit or at least have one available to purchase seperately, but the answer was "it is what it is". Any suggestions? Yeh,I know, pull it off and get it plated. Other than that?-?-?-?

Someone has wa-a-y-y-y too much time on their hands. Some times my bike doesn't look that good. That thing probably gets the air cleaner washed/changed after each use.

Question about the RSV Horn
Mel replied to dmoff1698's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Aftermarket accessory horns should be installed with their own relay. Use the factory wiring to activate the relay. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52836&highlight=horns Also, check out Carbonone's wiring harness. -
BUMP Looks like one response (Bushtec) and they are kinda pricey. Thread got away from my question. Suggestions for GL 1800 hitch that allows rear wheel removal?
-
talk about sticker "shock"!?!
-
On the GL 1800 what trailer hitch is the best for allowing access to rear wheel removal while giving good towing performance? There are a lot of different hitches out there as well as a wide price renge.

reference: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=57395 The "new to me" GL1800 is a 2007. The black is the metallc, this thing really sparkles in direct sunlight. The short time that I have spent riding so far has been very revealing. I suppose many of you already know some of this, but here goes. Comparing to my 2007 Venture. Even though it's heavier it feels and handles lighter, lower center of gravity. Smooth strong power all the way through the revs, I like to describe it as almost like a powerful electric motor feeling. Of course electronic fuel injection instead of hand choke and four carburetors. Seat is a little lower, and being inseam challenged, it's much more reassuring when stopped. Lots of other little goodies, like electronically controlled two memory preloads for the rear shock (solo/passenger). Speaking of the rear shock, I don't think you have to be in constant fear of a catastrophic rear shock failure at any moment. I loved both my Ventures, rode a '84 until 2004, had my '07 for over a year, but struggling with it being top heavy and wanting to not put my passenger in jeopardy of crashing to the ground when stopped, I was considering some kind of trike kit. Wth the Wing, I may feel enough in control to actually enjoy riding more than I have recently. This thing has crash bars that supposedly holds it up at about a 45 degree angle if it tips over, keeps it off of anyone on it as well as not crashing into the saddle bags, etc. There's a lot more that could be discussed about all the little gadgets, doo-dads, bells&whistles, etc. but that's just "stuff". The main thing for me is feeling more comfortable, at ease, and hopefully I'll get at least a couple more years of fun, enjoyable riding. (I'll be 74 years young next month). Oh, yeh! Just remembered to add this, no chirp, no whine. Everyone feel free to comment.

I'm not saying why I'm curious, but I have a question about the GL1800 models. GL1800 followed by HPNA or HPN or PM or P or something like that, sometimes with a 8 thrown in for good measure. I'm guessing these things are indicating what equipment they are shipped with from the factory. Can anyone tell me what those suffixes mean? Thanks,

Hey now, don't be bashful! How do you really feel about it?
