  1. Heel-toe shifter. Either way you are shifting just make sure the shifter moves to the end of it's travel. AND you don't have to be concerned about what style toe your current footwear has, because you don't have to position it under the shifter.

  3. ----in one of my work benches. I was looking for something and re-discovered this thing. I think it is a voltage regulator.?.?. Many, many, many (those are to explain my memory loss) years ago my '84 Venture Royale stopped charging. As I recall, I first changed the voltage regulator (cheap way out if it worked), but that did not fix it. I replaced the stator and it was like brand new. This thing has followed me around from Southern California to Michigan to Indianapolis. I do not know if it is the replacement I bought or if it's the one off of my VR. My guess is that it is the original from the VR. I do know it will not fit anywhere on my GL 1800. Here's the deal--- if you can identify it and have a need for it (or just want it), you can have it for the shipping cost. I would probably try to send it parcel post. No guarentee, but as I can best recall, it was working fine and I would not have kept it if I did not think it was O.K.
  4. I know that------ but does that mean you can't be out of your mind? I saw a trunk rack, a backrest. A lot of us require safety chrome.
  5. Are you implying that you have no accessories on yours??? Photos show otherwise, and the pics I saw aren't real recent, there may be more bling now? Just askin'.
  6. If you have a compressor at home with a pressure gage on it you can start up the compressor, then at your pre-determined PSI turn it off (unplug it if necessary). Now air up your rear shock only. You will use very little air volume and the shock absorber internal pressure will be near spot on your pre-determined pressure. The correct pressure for you is kind of trial and error depending on one or two up, trailer or no trailer, weight challenged or not. I think most run somewhere in the 30 to 40 PSI range. Do not try this with the front forks!!! Pressure requirement is so low and volume is so small that the front shocks must be adjusted using a hand-held zero loss pump. Very high risk of blowing the seals. Progressive (or other brand names) are available 0-30, or 0-60 PSI. One of these is an absolute must if you want to maintain your own. By the way, it's rediculous for the two of you to only outweigh me by 45 LBS!!!!
  7. Let's see, uhh-h-h-h, Rich Little, Ann Margaret, Sammy Davis, Wayne Newton??? They must be on video somewhere. Where has the time gone? Sadly, today's shows just don't seem to have the impact of the big headliners of yesteryear.
  8. This thing is a (probably old) G TEC 1 GB , and it has MP3/WMA/REC written on it. When I plug it into the USB port the display lights up and I can do things with it using the computer to control it. Seems like one GIG is enough capacity for a lot of songs. At $.99 a download I think you could spend a small fortune filling this thing! On the bike, (2007 GL 1800) there is a lead cord in the left side fairing pocket that plugs right in to it where the cord for the ear buttons goes, and plays the music through the audio system. I have not experimented with it a lot yet, seems like I have to plug it in, turn it on (running on battery?), put the audio system on AUX, and I've got tunes! Maybe a GW guru can chime in and expound the virtues of this system.
  9. No, I don't mean working on carbs. I recently came into possession of a (used) MP3 player. Now, I still like vinyl and 8 tracks. This little trinket had a bunch of music in it, about 140 songs, none of which was to my liking. I discovered that I could plug it in to a USB port and figured out how to delete the stuff that was on it. I have now "ripped" two of my CD's onto the computer and I'm gradually learning to "sync" them onto the MP3 player. This may not seem like much to many of you, I know there are some of you to whom this kind of technology is like second nature. But when I can play "my" music on the GL1800 using a little gadget not much bigger than my thumb, I figure I've made a giant leap towards entering the 21st century. No cassette player or CD player. What I don't know is, do I have to carry a supply of AAA batteries to power this thing, or is there some way of running it on the power from the bike?
  10. And it might be a 3 cylinder engine. Make SURE it's running on all 4. 2008 should still be under warranty.
  11. Ride the bike to the family meeting, offer rides to those willing, make it part of the get-together. Be a sport, let them share your enthusiasm for the sport. Don't get bummed, get proactive. Check my signature. And it rained practically all day here in Indianapolis.
  12. When I saw that subject title I thought someone had buried their intake/exhaust valves into a piston crown!
  13. Sounds like something someone(?) might do with a pygmy!
  14. Yep, put a pair of threaded links on and use them to hook your chains into. That should make it easy enough to reach. To be effective the chains must be crossed and attached to the tow vehicle/receiver, not to the "stinger". If something fails, you want the chains attached to the vehicle. The set-up in the picture with the plate mounted with the ball is the absolutely wrong place to hook up safety chains.
  15. --- some pics of the new adventure that has come along. Hey Tom, was that me you were hinting about in midrsv's survey about how many GW riders? I don't think I'll ever get all of the use out of this thing that I wish I could. I also think I'd like it if it would be a lot easier to check/change the air filter! Some engineer had a brain fart when he did this.
  16. And then fall starts? Let's see, I guess it's post-winter, pre-winter, start-winter, dead-of-winter?
  17. You might want to take a look at Tulsa Enterprises tall windshield. My '07 GL1800 has one that was installed by the PO. I have to look through it, but my passenger says much less buffetting than on the RSV.
  18. I bought a brand new 1970 CB 750 in the spring of (guess when) 1970. I remember that I paid $1,600 for it. Then added a fork mounted fairing and saddle bags. It didn't look as good as yours. I don't even remember the one that you have. I was riding a Yamaha XS 1100 in 1980, wish I had it now.
  19. Does that make me 17 1/2?
  20. Multiple windscreens = multiple decals, one per each. That's what I do with my AMA decals.
  21. They are adjustable, but a PITA. You have to open them up, loosen the mounting bolt(s) and adjust the aim. Once you get them aimed the way you want them, tighten them down and close them up.
