2007 GL1800 Audio--- Asking for recommendations for GPS with external audio connection so I can connect it to the Auxillary lead cord in the left fairing pocket. I have installed the power outlet, and have the aux. connector lead wire in the pocket. So-o-o-o I should have all the necessary hook-ups available, just need to know what to shop for so it can be connected for us to hear it through our headsets. Oh yeh, and to mount it. I have Garmin 255W for the truck and car and it works fine for us, but has no connection for external speakers. Thanks.

Well, here's what I installed on my '07 RSV. 109 dB @ 0ne meter, 6 amp draw, VERY weatherproof as they are for marine use. I think they have the rating very close to truth, they are LOUD. Not chrome, 304 stainless steel. Mounted right up front for excellent forward sound projection. I liked 'em. They are available from multiple vendors. One is below. http://mandmmarine.com/aficompacttwinhorn.aspx

Heel - Toe shifter has to go!
Mel replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I put a heel-toe shifter (no floor boards) on my '84 Royale, rode it 'till 2004, then a V Star 650 with floor boards/heel-toe shifter, then '07 Venture with boards/heel-toe. Now a '07 GL1800 Gold Wing. One of the first accessories I got for the GW was a heel-toe shifter. Accomodates my riding style better, and it looks good, too. I know some of you absolutely prefer the toe-only shift, but I'm sort of into a more leisurely approach to riding, and simply sliding my foot back a little and pressing down with my heel seems to be more comfortable than lifting my foot after twisting my toes down under a shifting lever. Heel shifting also does not scuff the boot/shoe. Back when I was drag racing the only way to go was toe only, but no need for that now. Quick shifting with the heel shifter is possible, it's just something that I don't find much need for any more.- 60 replies

It's just plain nasty, and probably headed for Ohio (just in case there's anyone from Ohio active on this forum:stickinouttounge:) We're inside and dry, but it's been at this for around 2 or 2 1/2 hours now and no let-up in sight. P.S. forum name WATERING HOLE???

The length from hitch to the axle looks to be about right to me. However, much of the cargo capacity is forward of the axle. That will put a lot of the weight on the hitch. I would be sure to load heavier cargo over/behind the axle line and the lighter stuff toward the front. Be sure to check the tongue weight and adjust the load accordingly. Roughly 10 to 15 percent of load on the hitch. I think most of us use 25 pounds as a ball-park hitch weight limit. My too.

Center cut pork chops, sliced little red skin potatoes with onion and green peppers, Texas Toast, and sweet corn, all prepared on the grill by me! That's the plan, hope the weather cooperates here in Indy. 2nd marriage, my kids in California and Texas, her's scattered around too. Just the two of us, I'll probably make a trip to Harbor Freight Tools and pick up some fabulous bargain. And that's about all the excitement I can stand in one day. (some people think this is an actual photo of me)

That's what I is-a-tryin' boss. From my thread: "But when I try to insert it into my signature using "Edit Signature" all I get is: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]" I think I'm trying yo do it correctly.

I have a picture uploaded and it shows up in my user CP labeled "Your Current Signature Picture". But when I try to insert it into my signature using "Edit Signature" all I get is: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Meanwhile, I still have the signature image you'll see below. Any advice?

I don't remember seeing that you were going to be in Indy. You may not have had any leisure time, but then again maybe some of us could have gotten together and extended some Hoosier hospitality. Maybe at least and a donut?

Yep, another "wave" thread. I've been riding since the only choices were Harley Davidson, Indian, Cushman, or Schwinn. Didn't always own one all that time, but have had one or more for around 50 years now. Street, off road, quads, three wheelers, dirt bikes, drag racing (1/4 mile street modified 119 mph, 11.7 secs. back in the early 70's). I have ridden lots of different brand names, most of the years the major ride was Yamaha. Harley in middle 60's, but also BMW in the 60's and again in the 70's. GL 1000 early Gold Wing, '79 XS1100 got traded for a '84 Venture Royale new off the show room floor rode it until 2004, just to name a few. Never knew I was obligated to wave. SO WHAT? most of you are asking. Some of you have more experience than I, some a lot less. Let me tell you, folks, it's about the riding that pleases you, not what seems to be proper in someone else's eyes. Why do some of you think it's an obligation to wave? We all enjoy riding, and for a wide variety of reasons. Some are strictly in town cruisers, some canyon carvers, some cross country high mileage fanatics. Do I have to wave because you think it's a sign of comraderie? I don't see Dodge Charger drivers waving, or Mustang drivers. I'm sure some of them do, but it's not an obligation. If you are feeling friendly and aren't too busy driving, and want to wave, for cryin' out loud, wave! But there may be times when it is not easy or convenient to wave, so don't! I just don't think anyone should be judged innocent or guilty of proper motorcycle protocol by the act of waving or not waving. It's about the journey. How's this for wasting time on Sunday morning?:2cents: (I doubled up because this looks like about 4 cents worth)

The GL1800's have "crash bars" front and rear that are designed/engineered to keep the motorcycle from falling all the way down if laid down on it's side. It's held at about a 45 degree angle. It does allow the rear wheel to be removed, but the Wing rear wheel is bolted on (similar to a car's wheel studs) and that allows it to be removed when the bike is "laying down" on it's right side. Much less involved in removing/installing of the rear wheel compared to the RSV.
