Do we give Big Tom a day or two off ? or do we just start Gen....errr I mean.. Phase 2 of the harassment ?
  2. The oil leak looks to be at the top valve cover on the right side. I do plan to grease everything with the dielectric grease. Have seen a few mentions in other posts about the TCI so I guess I need to add that to the list and find a thread as to what/where when and why the TCI needs to be moved. ( hint for thread link) Also, what is the tip on the oil leak ?

    Uhm......naw.....
  4. I have a small oil leak on the top of one of the front cylinders, I want to wire for 2 12-volt plugs and check the wiring for the front lower lights. Just seemed like all that would be easier to do without all the plastic.
  5. That is news to me and good to know..thanks.
  6. Thanks for the info. I am going to remove it so I can do the fork seals/springs and a few other items/wiring under there all at the same time. It looked pretty intense, but I appreciate the step by step. That will help. Funny about the loctite comment since on my KLR650, Loctite is a common addition...in fact KLR stands for Keep Loctite Ready !
  7. Yea..the 2nd Gen KLR's started in 2008. They are 45lbs heavier, slower ( really they are), and more street bikish ( is that a word?). I love my 1st Gen...both 1st Gens...
  8. How easy is it (or is it easy) to pull off the front fairing and dash board ? I'm sure there is a thread, but just getting an idea of where to start.

Don't worry....We all know how fast the 1st Gens are, but we rarely have to worry about "re-entry" heat..

Facts: The sky is blue (fact) Water is wet (fact) Obama sucks (fact) 1st Gen is better than 2nd Gen. (fact) Need I say more ? Next question ?
  11. This video is of the TW's in the Rincon Mountains. This hill is named "Manhood Mountain" due to the steepness, rockiness and ruts. This was my first ride after my shoulder replacement. I couldn't ride the KLR650 yet, but the TW's were a fun easy ride.....even up Manhood Mountain... Out of 8 riders, only 3 of us rode up this section. ( listen to the audio) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2yRwqgjFE0]Gunsite Pass Santa Rita Mountains Bill TW200.wmv - YouTube[/ame] Luckily I still have my (1st Generation !!) KLR650 to give me some dirt time.

I had a BMW K1200LT and although I have only had my Venture for a couple of weeks I have already found it to be a better ride. Just make sure you focus on a 1st generation bike so you can ride with the upper class.
  13. The TW200s were a lot of fun for off road camping and fishing. They climbed like little mountain goats. I still have my KLR 650 to use on the dirt and camping trips. In fact I think I worked a deal on selling my YZ250 since I don't think I'm riding anywhere I need two stroke power.

Gonna be a tough week for riding.... NOT !
  15. Well, my Twins left today for their new adoptive home in Oklahoma. It was a trade off...the Twins or a Venture. Picked the Venture ( and the right choice of a 1st Genner). Still sad to see the girls go. They were a different type of fun. But time to move on to bigger and better things....

I know this was an accidental misquote. You meant to type " He should buy a trailer to pull his car behind his 1st Genny". Bringing a car would be a good idea so the 2nd Genners can use it to go buy parts for theirs.
  18. Although the local MC parts place I go to couldn't find anything on the Fram PH3950 and even called their supplier looking for conversions, the Pep Boys around the corner had 2 in stock. The original cartridge style at the bike shop were $5.99 each and at Pep Boys the Fram PH3950 were $3.99 each. Mike thanks for the table you listed: Oil Filter (Gold) FIL 1381 Product Line: NAPA Filters Interchange Mfg.: Fram (Autolite) Interchange Mfg. Sounds interesting and tempting. At least I know it's not like any 2nd Genners are going to be able to catch me...

Now you did it...you had to go and open that can of worms... He just found out that his snow blower is a 2nd Generation model and can only handle 1/4 inch or less.....

What is that white stuff all over the ground ? I guess that is why we keep the cold icey stuff in the freezer where it belongs..well it's a freezing 58 degrees here..guess I'll grab my sunglasses ( that bright cloudless sky is ..well.. bright) :sun:and jump on my bike and run to the bank...

Oh...from the thread title I thought he had just figured out he had a 2nd Gen bike.....
