  1. Checked mine today..they all were 23/24 Ohms. Thanks for the info.
  2. What about St George Utah area ? Close to CA, NV UT and AZ...I want to ride Zion National park again..that has been on my radar....
  3. The first Generation force has been shadowing me at best...... Followed the advise, pulled the cap...wish I had known what that big hose in the middle was before I pulled it at the last minute. Got the cam cap off... used a small screwdriver to turn the broken thread portion out and reinstalled the cam cap. Borrowed a valve bolt off of the 87, which will be replaced once I order one today. Haven't got it back together yet because that pesky "work crap" keeps getting in the way. Hopefully later today. Marcarl - used your small screw driver trick and it worked beautifully... thanks.. :cool10: :cool10:
  4. Seeing is believing.....just saying......
  5. Be careful turning the reserve petcock. From what I have read in other posts, the petcock valve rod can stick/jam and can break if it hasn't been used a lot. Mine won't turn. I haven't gone in to see what the issue is, but just don't force it.
  6. Any idea off hand what the ft lb on the torque is on the reinstall of the cam caps should be ?
  7. Thanks Jeff, I will give it the ol college try...knowing I can remove the piece with the broken bolt helps alot. Thanks for the pictures. Might start on it tomorrow... I'll let you know. Bill
  8. Thanks for all the encouragement guys. It was the "while I'm at it, just fix this and that ", that got me overwhelmed on the fork seal job. I guess I'll see what I can do on Saturday. I was just so jazzed on riding this one and working on the 87 that this really has got me down. My month of travel starting next week leaves me with if It ain't fast and easy...it will have to wait until late April.
  9. It was working Dan. I just over wrenched it while talking on the phone. Should have been concentrating on what I was doing, or better yet. Been riding instead of screwing around. I guess Saturday I will try to take off the whole valve cover and see what I can do. From what i can see it isn't promising. maybe a real small angle drill might get in there to drill for a small easy out. It will be a wait-n-see issue. Any hints on what to expect on getting the cover off ? Sad part is my wife was going to be gone all day Saturday, I was going to ride and work on the 87. Tuesday I go on travel for a month. It's gonna be around 80 on Sat.
  10. I can see it from the valve cover hole and it looks like it is below the top of the area it screws into. From the looks of the bolt ( below) it is broken below the the stop portion of the bolt. How hard is it to get those valve covers completely off ? Besides the 8 bolts, what else is bolted/connected to them ?
  11. I have a titanium right shoulder. Good Luck. Best advice is don't rush the recovery, and stick with the therapy. Don't give it up too early. I blew out my first surgery 2 weeks after because " I felt great". Then they had to add the metal parts. That wasn't as much fun. Do the therapy. Listen to the Dr's and follow their advice. Good Luck !
  12. It’s dead. Down and out for the count. I screwed it big time. I had used the washer under the valve cover shoulder bolts technique to stop a couple of small leaks. Worked fine except one little leak that was working it’s way down to the exhaust. Was looking forward to riding it through the weekend and decided while chatting on the phone with a friend, to “snug” that one valve cover bolt in an attempt to stop the small oil weep. Went good until I gave it the little “one more for good luck” tweak. Yea..more like major bad luck. It snapped off under the shoulder stop part. I don’t see how I can fit even an angle drill in there to drill for an easy out. Gotta pull the engine to fix it. I think that is way beyond my skill and time availability. Was going to start working on the 87 this weekend with/for my son. Seriously thinking of selling both as is and moving on… The 2nd Gens win this battle.... This sucks.
  13. See I told ya.... on the meds and reality is back..... The next thing he'll post is the dog ate the camera.....
  14. We just had my mother's 4 year mark of her passing. It was unexpected. My Dad still talks about how much he misses her on a daily basis. In the 4 short years she has been gone she has missed her Granddaughter joining the Army, being deployed, be injured (IED) Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, getting married and her first Great Granddaughter. The loss never goes away. I feel your loss. I watch it in my father's eyes and hear it in his words every time I see him. I rode across town yesterday morning just to make him eggs and sausage breakfast. I agree. If you have your parents..cherish the time.
  15. I think there should be a Trash Bin Thread. All the good stuff that is deleted put into it for 48 hours so we can read it before it goes bye-bye... It could be locked so there ar no additional posts..but dang...I hate missing the good stuff...
  16. You guys fell for this ? You know he just started back on his meds. It takes awhile for them to stop the hallucinations.... By tomorrow, Friday the latest we will be back to ... i've gotta lay some concrete...
  17. So the should the #2 Ground be soldered to the center ground ? I tried touching it to the center pole, and just got a loud static squeal.. Do I need a different end plug ?
  18. So I have a little project I would like to complete. I bought 2 male pigtails that fit into the standard tank plug. My goal is to just wire a 3.5 female stereo plug into the end. This should allow me to plug in my normal stereo plug into the tank plug and listen to the radio through my existing helmet setup. I currently listen to my Jimmy Buffett though a small music stick. QUESTION: Why can't I hear the music by just hooking the #5 (right speaker wire) and #3 (left speaker wire) wires to the female plug and then plugging my existing stereo patch wire into the 3.5 plug ? Do I need a different female receptor than a normal 3.5 female ? I have check the continuity in the wires and they are OK. I have tried it and it just doesn't work..
  19. Where exactly is the ignition fuse you are talking about ? Does the key need to be on ? I would like to check mine, but could really use a little more info, thanks..
  20. You know..you just gave me an idea. I have, and used, my suction brake bleeder. All I have to do is make the adjustable piece to lay across the fork tube opening and it would easily do the same thing. Thanks
  21. Not really...The voices just keep telling me that there is just mine and a few other wanna-bees..... and I would rather be an outcast..then in a cast... And it's all in good fun..until somebody pokes their eye out with a Goldwing....
