If you want, I can send you my Carbtune and just send it back when you are done. The sync is pretty simple.

How Acurate is the 1st Gen Speedo?
KIC replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
mine shows about 5 MPH faster than my GPS at higher speeds..like from 45 on up. At 20 - 40ish it is 3-4 MPH higher than GPS. Seems to stay at the 5MPH variance at least up to 95ish ... -
Yes.. I ordered 2 of those o-rings with the order. I just wasn't sure if we were talking about the same ones. Thanks guys ..as always I appreciate the help. On a side note... I took it out for a ride today..and it didn't leak. On again..off again... dang gremlins...
-
Which one are you talking about ? What number ?
-
Thanks..got those ordered.
-
I didn't know I could order these from Earl. Guess next time I'll ask him first. Sorry Earl ! And our local Stealership is a RideNow Dealership, which has a worst reputation than a bleeding hemorrhoid. I don't buy from them unless it is an absolute, positively, can't do anything else situation. And..that is rare to none.
-
I forgot to mention that they were less than 10.00 for the set
-
Thanks for the advice Earl, I ordered two sets of all the o-rings needed. I'll get the cap too. Figured might as well get them for the 87 too. I hope Boats.net is a good place to order them from.

I just got this link from Flyinfool. What a great resource. Thought I would post it for all the new guys.. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1989/VENTURE%20ROYALE%20-%20XVZ1300DW/parts.html Thanks Jeff !! Hope you heal fast. In the mean time keep posting good stuff !

Can you post the diagram you are looking at ? I have looked at my hard copy manual and the PDF copy and can't see it. Never mind.. I found the diagram you were looking at on that site. Thanks !
-
So ...these o-rings are all Stealer ordered ? Not match em at Ace Hdwr ? I have the diagram and numbers for those...but I can not find in the manual the part (o-ring?) for the tube going into the front of the thermostat from the valve.
-
Just read it. Uhgg... you know, if I had just drained the coolant and refilled things probablly would have been alright...but NOOooooo I had to turn the valve, flush and reflush and do everything "right" ... now I have two leaks I didn't have before the flush... Now.. if I do all the o-rings..and the starter upgrade.. I can only imagine what the other ....while you are that far........ will be ...

DON'T SAY IT !!!!!!

I bought a set of these large pliers from Harbor Freight. I can not believe how many times they have come in handy in such a short time. Today I was trying to tighten a hose clamp that the screw was in a position that I couldn't get a small open end or screw driver to it. The long needle nose work well in loosening the clamp so I could spin it and re-tighten it. They also work really well on the oil breather line under the air box on a 1st Gen. I recommend a set of these for every tool box.

So, it looks like there is a very slight seeping leak around the top of the thermostat housing. But, the biggest leak that showed up is where the tube that comes between the "valve" and goes into the side of the thermostat housing. This seems to be a pretty good leak that just started after changing the coolant. Is there a "kit" that has all the o-rings and gaskets for the thermostat housing, or do I need to purchase each one separately ? Any input from others that have done this, what looks like a real pain in the @$$ job ?

progressive springs - where to buy
KIC replied to D4klutz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Got mine from him too. -
Now it looks like it's not the hose, but the thermostat gasket. ...uhhg..that looks like a real job to change...removing the exhaust and all...
-
Turns out it wasn't the valve. The hose on top of the thermostat housing was leaking. Hmm.. wasn't leaking before the flush. Tightened the clamp...we'll see how that goes..

My first KIA Mission was 1 1/2 weeks ago. It was for a personal friend of our family's, and my daughter who served with him rode with me. I can never see it getting easier, but well worth it for the families. They really do appreciate it. Good Job. I would love to "deal" with those pukes from Westboro Baptist.

Shift indicator switch
KIC replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have two 83 parts bikes. that i would have to guess has what you need, and presumably works. Where is the part located, how hard to pull ? how do I test it to know it works ? -
If its a stuck float you might try draining the gas, then blowing carb cleaner, with a red tube, up through the drain hose into the bowl. Use a cloth so the spray back doesn't get you .

I am glad it worked out for both of us. Weird how it is the right side that falls off. My thanks to Prariehammer for his generosity and time !
