I also think the brake fluid is wrong. I know some have used transmission fluid, but brake fluid might destroy the rubber parts.

If you look at the pictures, the headlight and gold frame appeared OK, the silver/chrome frame was broken. Which part did you need ?

No... it looks like he bought it at an auction. it is a small motorcycle shop with a small "junk yard" in the back. The bike just looks like it took a hard front end hit at speed. The blunt force velocity really forced parts forward. The rear trunk opened, ripping out the latches on the lower trunk and the back rest was forced forward and popped out of the upper brackets.

Well I was able to stop by and see the 87 Venture that was being parted out while I was up in Phoenix. The bike was definitely rougher than the pictures show. The impact really damaged a lot of the bike. The force and velocity appeared to force a lot of parts forward breaking and twisting stuff. The guy only would take cash and his prices was so-so. I was able to get a few parts for my 87 though. The biggest score for me was the set of 3 matching pouches, two for the front and the matching on the rear. ( If anybody needs a dark grey rear pouch, I have one). I also scored a good seat and a new radiator chrome cover. The fairings were trashed, upper and lower. the right side of the engine is trashed. the rear bags were trashed. There is a good speedo console with 38,000 miles. He will sell the left rear hard bag complete ($70.00). He wouldn't just sell the top. No aftermarket chrome. The CB/Class console is complete but all except one screw hole is busted, but could be fixed easily. He wants $80.00 for the whole unit. There is a full set of carb, but they will need to be thoroughly cleaned as the air filter is not screwed on, but on top to (slightly ) protect from rain etc. Sorry I couldn't come through with some of the parts you guys needed, but the bike was so rough.... Hope this helps somebody. I most likely will have to go back there for work, so if anybody wants something, let me know.

That's okay .. even when you read and write English you can't understand half of the stuff posted here... unless it involves SeaFoam...

I went from a 02 BMW K1200LT to the 1st Gen Venture. The BMW was a nice bike but maintenance was hard and the dealer was very expen$ive. The highway ride was nice but the around town, especially the slow speed turns sucked. The layover rate on slow speed turns are high. It is very top heavy. On the K1200LT forum there were two types of riders, those who have had their bikes take naps and the the riders who soon would have their bike take naps. We used to keep tally on the number of naps (layovers). Just changing the oil was a pain on the arse. I did love all the toys that came with it. They have a forum that is just as friendly and informative as we have here: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/cmps_index.php .

Carberator Swap Procedure
KIC replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
So I have a question.... I have read in different threads that the hardest part of the carb rack removal is the throttle cable connections.. reconnecting after the re installation of the rack. I think one member said it took him 6 hours of frustration to get it done. I was wondering if it was faster and easier to disconnect the throttle assembly on the handle bars and just drop the assembly down towards the triple tree, giving slack to the cables to disconnect and reconnect at the side of the bike before sliding the rack back in... ??? -

If I remember... and guys correct me, there are two different washers that go below the c-clip on the forks. One washer had a wider hole in the middle ? Can putting them in incorrectly do anything like this ?

There is also a metal heat shield back there that makes a "chatter sound" on both my bikes since the bolts seem to work through the metal and it just sits there. I am guessing I have to pull the rear and the shock to get to it and to try to remove the bolts to fix. You can reach through the side and try wiggling it to see.
