    these were on one of my parts bikes. Looks like it sat outside without an air cleaner. They were stuck and I have been soaking them to get them out. The diaphragms are definitely toast. Just trying to get a couple out for one of the members here.

    Hey.. I got one of the slides out of the carbs. One shattered . Still have two left soaking with SeaFoam penetrating oil. The carb that I was able to remove got one little chip on the outer edge this was on the side that faced the air cleaner. Would that have any impact on using it ? The chip is right on the beveled edge as shown in the photos below. I hope the other two will come out soon.

    Hey Brian, thanks for posting. I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how your healing and bike life was going ? There's a great 86 with 31K miles down here with lots of new parts that would be perfect for you.. it just needs all the farkles you had on yours.. So how's it going ?

    Mine was issued on 1/13/1994 and expires in May 2019. Arizona does 25 year licenses. Everybody winter the new fancy one and traded the old style in. I kept mine . My license is ad old ad some of the cashier that look at it for I'd. It's a relic but still "good". DMV employees tell me i need a new one with an updated picture. I smile and say "next time"...

    Use a fox pair of dikes (wire cutters) to loosen the screws on the diaghram cover. One good bite should loosen them. Go to Harbor Freight and get the large set of needle nose pliers. One has a bent tip. They will help you with the air cleaner hoses and much more.

    So.. I bought a can of SeaFoam deep penetration foam. I have soaked those puppies for two days now.. I will try to see if any of them will come out tomorrow night when I get back in town.

    Checked out the bikes today. The one that has the coils on it does not have the CDI still on it. Looks like it was salvaged before I got the bike(s). Sorry, I tried. If you need anything else let me know and I will see if I got it.

    If he doesn't have it, I have 2 84 parts bikes. front fenders and I believe both have the head light adjuster on them.

    What type of Kawasaki does he have ? There are Vulcan forums, KLR650 forums and Voyager that I have been on. Other than the KLR650 forum I wasn't on them very much since I joined just to help a friend who had the bikes and depended on me for information. If he is into dual sports, the ADVRider forum(s) are pretty good. You can get into a local area on the forum and meet and ride with locals.

    Uhm....NO ! The best part about a 1st Gen is the 1st Gen.. the 2nd best part of having a 1st Gen is rubbin' it in the nose of the 2nd Gens... just part of life... some win... some lose and get a 2nd Gen... Please accept my pre-apology for offending anybody... 1st Gen humor is a classic symptom of proud 1st Gen ownership and lack of sympathy to the slower class..

    I will try to go across town to my dad's tomorrow afternoon. I pretty sure at least one of the parts bikes has the coils and everything still on it. I will see if I can get it pulled.

    Okay..here's the deal... I am not a mechanical genius. So.. if I know exactly where the CDI is located on the 84 and what it takes to get it off... I will go over and look at my two 84's and pull one or both. I will give you both (if they are on the bikes) and you can see if they work. I will also be working in the San Tan Valley area all week next week so we could meet up and drop it off. I checked the 2013 pricing index and it states that they are free until February 22nd, 2014.

    You know Joe, you really need to get a sense of humor.. I'm starting to understand why Dan backed off from enjoying the fun here. Instead of taking things lightly and just having some light hearted fun, some seem to go to deep with jokes and get so easily offended. I would never tease, or make fun of kids. This is an adult community. A few light jabs all in fun shouldn't be taken so serious....Geez.. Yes I tease 2nd Gens.. I have two friends that have them. I ride with guys that have Hondas, Suzukis Beemers... we tease each other all the time about our bikes. Faster, cooler, louder, most comforts, it doesn't matter... it is all in fun.. Lighten up man...

    If he doesn't take them I will.. my wife would love them. Dahgimp, I don't know if the CDI off an 84 would work on an 87. If anybody could answer that I could look and see if there is one on either of my parts bikes.

    There are two types of Motorcycle owners...those who have 1st Gens...and those who wish they had 1st Gens... Dan, maybe we should back off on teasing the 2nd Genners.... it's kinda like teasing the kids on the short bus.... P.S. Maybe we shoulda bought the 2nd Genners a sense of humor for CHRISTmas...

    My bike has a tendency to be a hypochondriac. I read something about a problem another 1st Gen is having, the next thing I know my bike is doing the same thing. Read about an oil leak, it starts leaking. Coolant leak...yepper..right there starting the same thing. Your clutch slave cylinder going out ?? Well mine will follow 3 days later. I had to change my password on my computer so my 89 can't sneak in here and read the forum to come up with more symptoms...
