The first time I took my fairing apart I also found a spare key. The weirdest thing I found was a quarter behind the left front spark plug the first time I changed plugs. I still cant figure that one out.. -
So we endured the heat, didn't get rained on, and had abut 300 bikes show up. It was pretty low key, lots of exposure to the Friday night drive home folks on the main road, midtown. Funny thing was that there was a protest about teachers in some foreign country being killed a mile up the road and they were left alone. The police showed up to ours and said we had to leave. Even though we we re "invited" by one of tenants in the complex, the property owner didn't want us on the property. I guess teachers in some foreign country are way more important that bikers here in Arizona.

I have had 3 shoulder surgeries after a serious injury 16 years earlier. My specialist stated that I had some of the worst damage that he had seen on a "functioning person". When I was injured they did not do arthroscopic surgeries, they did the "cut-n-dice" which would have been 1-2 years of recovery and therapy. With 2 young babies, I could not do it back then. Due to the time between the injury and surgery, I had issues with seized tendons and scar tissue. The first surgery on my right shoulder went well. So well that I scheduled my left for 5months later. BIG mistake. I later found out that you need about 6 months for the "good" scar tissue to form in the healing process. This helps pull together and support the repairs/weak areas. then you need another 6 months of continued healing and therapy to "build" and keep the "bad" scar tissue from taking over in the wrong places. I had my left should done 5 1/2 months after my right and promptly "blew" out my right while babying and recovering from my left. I wish I had waiting at least a year. ' I waited 2 years before going back and seeing what we could do to repair my right. The only "temp" fix was a partial new shoulder. I couldn't ride my BMWK1200LT for 6-8 months. Even my KLR650 was a little too much at first. I then waited and was only able to ride my TW200. This video was after my surgery. You can hear the guys talking about my shoulder since they couldn't make it up the hill which was way more challenging then it looks like from the bottom. #1 rule is LISTEN to your doctor !! Do you therapy and continue to do your therapy ! good luck !

Tuning the progressive springs.

I don't remember the exact size I used, but I think I cut mine in half. I can't believe you were able to screw the top back on with the whole 1-inch. I remember mine being tight with 1/2-inch. -
Ironically my friend just sent me these pictures and the following text a couple of days ago: Came across an African Twin rolling through town. The rider is from Japan writing an article for a Japanese magazine. The bike is amazingly well balanced and he said there is no wind to deal with on the highway. Awesome. Available in August.

Question for the more experienced riders out there.
KIC replied to GAWildKat's topic in Watering Hole
Obviously I keep the reg for my Venture locked in the rear trunk. My son used carry his reg with his insurance card in his wallet since he was the only one who rode his "crotch rocket" and if he needed it he was with the bike, or the bike was with him. He did use clear packing tape over the front to keep it from fading etc. Remember shoot first and then drag them inside .... -
Welcome. If you only knew.... Just remember the words to Hotel California.... "You can check out, but you can never leave"...... Never thought you would join a cult that worships at the alter of Dairy Queen did ya ??

Anyone got a spare MKII Valve Cover Bolt?
KIC replied to VanRiver's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It takes a very thin washer under the bolt head to stop the oil leak. I went to a chain and bolt wholesale place and bought some very thin washers that I could not find at the local Ace or other hardware stores. -

Here you go... She does.... I hope it makes your bike run better, not sure how, but good luck with it... P.S. I also have a broken one that I tried to replace from another carb, but could not get the other one(s) out without breaking it also .. -
Just saying.... Good luck !

HEADLIGHT ISSUES & Side Markers
KIC replied to Cowboy0629's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What may have caused the PO to start the wiring chop is actually a pretty easy fix that I have seen overlooked and the wiring chopping begins. The PO of my 87 did the same thing. The easy fix is that the starter button gets dirty and does not return all the way out when used. This causes the light not to come on. If you pull the switch/button all the way out (like a 1/16 of an inch) the light will come on. Cleaning the switch repairs the problem. Instead, people start hacking and bypassing the switch to get the light to work. Just keep this in mind when you start fixing the wiring problem and the light starts giving you fits. Good luck and welcome to the mental farm. We grow mental issues here... -

I have them. I can get one to VideoArizona to take up to you when you are in AZ. I did the same thing to my 89, so I feel for you.. I was ready to trash the bike when I broke mine since I wasn't going to pull the engine, but was talked through the procedure to remove the broken one and replace it. This forum has saced my butt so many times !!
