  2. Rocket, Good talking to you last night. Hope you have a safe trip back. Now get back and finish getting your bike back on the road. And no, I don't think the front grader of the tractor will fit on your 1st Gen.. although it could be used to blade out the slower 2nd Gens out of the way while riding..
  3. Well I temporarily cheated and took the inside one off the 87 and used the existing inside on the 89 and put the bike back together. I'll buy a set for the 89 soon and put these back on the 87. I'll get new ones for the 87 if I ever get the carbs rebuilt and back on it..
  4. Not a bad idea... Gurus ?? watcha think ???
  5. Yea... what he said :sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
  6. If you have the original fuse block, check the fuse(s) for a loose connection or in my case a broken fuse clip that held the fuse.
  7. One thing that I have had on several bikes is a "whine" that is caused by the tires. If you "swerve" back and forth, to where the tire is off of the center, the noise momentarily goes a way until you are back straight. Long shot, but mine does it now with the tires I have.
  8. I heard that if you spend the night in a Holiday Inn Express you wake up smart enough to complete a Chinese puzzle AND remove the slave cylinder first try....hey that's what the commercial said......
  9. No, swapping isn't a possibility. The outer one is ready to go metal to metal. The outer on my 87 is almost identical. I was just trying to save a few $$ right now since I have a big expensive surprise for my wife this weekend for our 30th anniversary. Flying my daughter and grand daughter in and my son down from where he lives to get the family together.. wifey been suffering from empty nest/missing grand Princess syndrome. Trying to keep it all a secret is exhausting. Bike shop in town has a set for $28.00. I will clean and grease up the pins etc though, thanks. heard that if you grease the pads real well, they last a long, long time.... Bill
  10. I never said "out" was easy. just bending the wire holder made it "easier" . I don't remember being able to take the wire thing "off" , just bent it down. You do have to get it turned just right to drop down, but it's not impossible. Don't want to scare him away... but going back in was pretty easy..
  11. Wow...looks fun...ride safe !
  12. So what I hear you saying is "maybe" ?
  13. Well like they say .."loud pipes saves lives " and they lose friends and piss of the neighbors... Oh yea.... somebody is going to delete this thread before he gets back, right ? Right ?? I mean really...right ?
  14. I need pads for my 89 and if I remember correctly, one of my 84 parts bikes has really good pads on it..so, I was just hoping .... I even checked my 87 and the same outer pad wear on that one. The inner pads seem ok. Thinking of getting one new set and putting one new pad on the outer side of each bike. Then the inner and outer pad should wear out at the same time. I had read that the outer pad wears faster, and this proves it (X2) for me.
  15. Aren't Harley owners also known as "shopaholics" ? Just askin'......
  16. I heard that while he was at the rally, you could renew your membership for 5-years for only $10.00 total.... It's just an old nasty rumor that I just started....
  17. It might just be trying to imitate a 2nd Gen owner.... whine..whine..whine...usually at lower speeds since they don't go that fast to begin with...
  18. Ditto...just save yourself some time and bend the crap out of the metal wire holder.... and it goes back in a whole lot easier than out...
  19. Okay boys and girls and 1st Gen Gurus... does an 84 MKI use the same right side brake pads as a MKII 87/89 front right ? I know there is a rotor difference, just thought I would check on the pads... Inquiring minds want to know.....
  20. Ditto on the part for your "friend". Also tell him incase you lose one or two of those screws, take one off of the other side and match them up at Ace Hardware.. At least that is what a "friend" of mine did...
  21. Do you take trades ? I have two 'Friends don't let Friends buy Harleys" signs for sale. I thought it would make a good trade. That way they arent' really for sale....The rules don't say anything about tradin'...... Hey...why is my VR account now locked down....???
  22. Done.... and he is a cute kid..

  24. 2nd Gen owners hate the faster blue 1st Gen the most... mainly because the 1st Gen owner can brag that he "blue by them" ....
