Antidive removal
KIC replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It seems that unless he has upgraded the forks to MKII's, doesn't the 83 & 85 have fluid lines instead of electrical connections ? I recall reading something one time about removing the hoses and plugging the dive blocks. I also, disconnected my electrical lines from behind the headlight after installing Progressives. Made a big difference on the electrical drain while holding the brake at lights and such. -
Hello, Homeland Security Hotline ? ... I have some information for you......

I talked to my staff, and they said after talking to your staff, that I won't apologize. At least not until I have other questions to get answered....

Okay, I logged back on and it is out of mobile mode. If you did that THANK YOU. I have changed my default color back to red. So far I can read everything. Incase there is a problem, where exactly is the "default back to original" for everything located ? Thanks for your help and all you do. I almost feel bad about the Harley thread......naw maybe not........... yet...

Oh...it wasn't that screwed up then, but it is now... when i was looking for the default I pressed, faster than I could read, the default..to MOBILE settings. Now it is really screwed up ! I can't find where to default OUT of mobile settings... Ugh !

Actually my default color is blue for the forum, but is red when I go to my settings and profile locations. I have not found a place to change the font color in those areas. Is there a location ?

So I just renewed my membership for year #4 after 3 years of ownership. You guys helped me decide on the original purchase, helped figure out what I actually purchased, helped me extensively through many repairs including the whole scary front end/fork seal/ triple tree bearing repair and most importantly getting it all put back together. Since the original 89 purchase, I have bought two 1984 parts bikes, a 1987 Venture Royale, and helped my son-in-law purchase his 1986 Venture Royale (thanks 1Rooster). I did have to stop my bike form reading the forum since she decided to develop many symptoms that others were posting about regarding their bike. So for Year #4...thanks guys and gals !!!! Just found my original Purchase pictures: Now those of you that lost the pool on whether I would last or get kicked off of here....pay up !!

My only problem is when I go to messages where it shows who liked or thanked for posts it looks like this : It looks like the font is white. If I high lite it, I can read what is missing.

One thing to know is when you reassemble the rear tire, let all of the air out of the tire before you try to get past the bolts on the upper inside right side Just wondering, or is it wandering... ? -
Glenn I have to leave town at 6am tomorrow morning on a quick run to Prescott. I'll give you a call on Monday about stopping by . Just wondering, or is it wandering... ?

Rode to downtown and back again. Such a nice ride tarnished with the visit to the IRS trying to resolve an issue for a family member. The ride back was nice, but almost resulted with an in-person chat with a radar/ motorcycle cop. Other than all the government contact crap, the ride was great ! Oh, I'm sorry .. am I gloating over our weather too much ???

Ok, excuse my ignorance on this issue. But is his broken shaft (just the broken piece) interchangeable with one off of an 84 ? The reason I keep asking is that I have two 84 parts bikes and if David can use any of the pieces, we can easily take them off one of the bikes. -
So my friend is ready to order his springs. His question to me is which one ? Longer ? stiffer ? How does it affect the handling from one to the other ?

Thanks Randy for the info. Why is it that an 84 needs to be lubed more often than a 89 ?? -

Would a final drive from an 84 work on a 89 MKII ? -
I paid over $100.00 for mine new. Hopefully yours works and comes with all the hoses and case although both are easily replaceable. Good luck !

Great idea. In fact I also lost half of my right side when I first bought the bike and took it to a car wash. without thinking, I hit the side with the spray and whammo, they were gone. I replaced them with a piece of ABS. In the summer, out here, we really need to block as much heat from the side as possible, so I tried to fabricate some type of removable piece that fit on the outside. Got some old heat shield from a friend and tried to bend it, and cut it, into a shape matching the inside vent area. That did not work well since I do not have the correct tools needed. But, I did take the cardboard pattern that I was using and covered it with the aluminum tape used for A/C and heater units and covered it with that. Then I screwed them in. It would be cool to make some ABS side covers to block the inside during the summer. Here are some pictures of my little attempt.

My father got a call supposedly from my older brother with a bad phone connection from jail. An "Attorney" then got on the phone. My dad was told that my brother was in an accident with a Consulate vehicle from Latin America. There was $2500.00 in damage. If he paid for all of the damage he would be released from jail with no charges. The money had to be Western Unioned to the "consulate" by 4pm or he would be held over for trial. He went and got the money and almost sent it until I found out about it and asked him if he had called my brother's phone. My brother was at home and had not been in an accident. My dad really thought he was talking to my brother as they knew personal information about my brother and my dad's name including my brother's nickname. The attorney called twice to make sure the money was sent. My dad told him "Yes". The third time he called he said they could not find any record and asked if he really did send it. He then told them no, and they were interrupting his dinner with his son. The cussing started and he said the police wanted to talk to them. Click... dial tone.

Here is what I used when I did mine. Some of the drive shaft info is at the end of the tire removal part. Also, remember to not tighten the 4 final drive bolts until the tire and rim are installed and the axle is tight. Then tighten the 4 bolts. REAR TIRE REMOVAL.doc -
3 bars of gas in 41 miles
KIC replied to flyday58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Let us know what your mileage is on the 2nd tank. If you are like me, the first tank will be low MPG due to the wrist/throttle issue that develops once we get a taste of the power and thrust of a good running 1st Gen. I just corrected my carb issues a month ago and it almost threw me off when I cranked it open, so I know just what you mean.
