  1. Can you use your new powers to extend the time before a member automatically gets timed outfor non use ??
  2. Your welcome..I only know because of my frustrating search for it a couple of weeks ago.
  3. It is hidden in the top bar under 'Community" drop that down to members list.
  4. Dan, I agree with everybody in that you can make a big difference at this point. It is always better to catch it early than much later. I lost my mom just under 7 years ago because she would not follow all the doctor's directions. After she unexpectedly passed, we found her hidden stashes of candy and sweets. Wish you the best Bud. Take care of yourself your family and 1st Gens depend on you being healthy !
  5. Thanks FreeBird for the info. That was what was holding us up. I didn't want to put the 553CC's per fork if the Schedule 80 PVC was going to displace more fluid than a coil spring would. It seems to have worked out great. DAV? rode it home and made it in one piece. That got me past my 5-feet/5-seconds warranty for all work completed.
  6. He paid $97.95with shipping from Sonic Springs.
  7. We had to buy a 10-foot piece of schedule 80 to cut the correct length for each side. The owner ( DAV?) called after he rode home to say that it felt a lot better. We also tightened the triple tree nut(s) just a little so that helped with the front loose feeling. We appreciate all the help and advice everybody gave in this thread and my "emergency" help thread that I posted today during the process.
  8. I'm tired of it...it has snowed every single day this year... And I can honestly state that I have ridden my Venture every day this year..even with the snow..
  9. Yes they do...way different than my 1st Gen or the KLR650 I put Progressives in..
  10. I have searched through the forum and the instructions that came with the springs. I can not confirm the amount of oil to re-install in the forks. The only amount I see is in a thread about changing the oil but doesn't seem to be specific to Sonics. It seems to me that the 10 1/2 inches of PVC would displace more oil than the stock springs so less oil would/should be added to forks. In the middle of the job now so any help would be appreciated.
  11. ????? So we are in the middle of this adVenture. So much fun, so little time. We pulled the old springs out and opened the new springs.... WHAT ?? They are 10-inches SHORTER ... The originals are 22 1/2 inches long and the Sonic's are 12 1/2 inches long. They gave us 16 1/2 inches of PVC. I know a previous post said that we would be short of PVC, but are the Sonic "progressives really supposed to be 10 inches shorter ?? Do I cut the PVC to total the length of the originals ? ? the forks are ( will be extended) during the install. So we are going to buy more PVC, just trying to figure out how long to make the PVC on each side.
  12. I agree with CowPuc. He knows his crap ( I have been dying to say that) Check the slides. I was battling a constant mileage problem and then finally checked the slides while running. The bike runs really bad with the air cleaner off, but they should all pull together. When I checked mine I found ONE moving freely. I had to pull the diaphragm cover and make sure the diaphragms were correctly sealing. One at a time I got the the sliders to work together. The bike almost threw me off on the test ride after that. Check plug wires and caps. Keep us informed and we will give you the next step until you are back up and running happy.
  13. Thanks. There are no oil leaks in the forks, so we are just going after the springs and the triple tree nut/bearings. I was planning on using a vacuum bleeder to suck all the fork oil out of the forks and replace with new oil. We already have one 32 oz bottle of fork oil. Do you know about how much is needed to refill both forks totally ? Any fairing tips ? Anything to look out for or deal with ?
  14. I had this posted in the 2nd Gen Tech area, but since time is running out, I am throwing this out to all. I am going to help my friend install Sonic Progressive springs in his 2001 RSV this Thursday. I need to know what to expect. I have done this to my 1st Gen, but want to know what to expect on a 2nd Gen. I hope to complete it in less than 4 hours. I have looked/searched for a thread on the spring installation process and the best I found was a statement on another thread that there were no 2nd Gen installation threads. I put Progressives in my 1st Gen, but the 2nd Gen looks different enough with the newer fork style etc. So, any hints, tips, suggestions or good excuses I can use while working on this bike ? The fairing removal looks challenging, does the fork caps come off using a crescent on the square area right below the air valve ? It looks like once you loosen the 2 fork bracket cinch bolts, they should unscrew. Any and all information will be helpful. I hope to knock this out in around 4 hours. Does that sound reasonable ? Also, how far form the top of forks should the oil be while the tubes are compressed ? How about any spacers on top of the new springs ? Info...I'm begging for info... Bill

  16. I am ready to help a friend put Progressives in and check the triple tree nut. He would also like to put in new speakers while we are taking the fairing off for that work. What speakers can he put in the fairing ? Are they regular speakers that he can pick up locally or does he have to order special one ? Also, how does the speaker grill in front of the dash speakers come off ? Does it pop off, or is it unbolted from the inside ? Bill
  17. Well two points in rebuttal: 1) The fountain was not in Tucson, it was in Patagonia, AZ 2) We were still able to keep the ice off the ground and contained in the fountain. Just part of the decorations.
  18. The ride went well. Wasn't too bad with the right gear. This was the fountain at the restaurant we had breakfast at.
  19. Our Saturday CHIRSTmas ride is on... OK.. a small cold front came through but I am ready .... Every freezing mile will be in honor of those who prefer to keep that white stuff on the ground instead of the freezer like we do..
  20. received my reply: Dear Bill, I received your letter of modification regarding your CHRISTmas list. Really ??? Need I remind you of your actions on 3-14-2014, 4-2-2014, 4-13-2014, 5-5-2014, 5-6-2014, individual and multiple issues on 5-10 through 5-21-2014, etc..etc.. etc.. Need I go on ? It takes a lot of guts for you to attempt to change your already decided gift that will be delivered on or about 12/24 - 12/25, 2014. Since there is a ban on coal production, we have had to shift to our back-up present for those who defy the nice part of my requirements. Just make sure you feed your dog a little extra on CHRISTmas eve so I can make a local pickup from the backyard grass. Sincerely Santa. P.S. Thanks for the laugh ! Things have been stressful lately.

    Battery

What did you start in Arizona ?????? I went out yesterday with the intent to ride to a meeting in Nogales and then to one up in Casa Grande and back to Tucson. Besides the fun, I would also clean up on mileage reimbursement. So I went out to the bike and ...... nothing... the battery was totally dead....zero.. wouldn't even except a charge. Pulled the backup off the shelf, checked it and it was at 11 volts. Threw the charger on it and left in the car. Got home last night and the back up said 13.6 but this morning it was back to 11.5. Guess I better get reading this thread and figuring out which battery to order.....
  22. Which is why I just modified my list for Santa.... I figured I would ask for two to save on shipping....
  23. You didn't miss much Dan.... it was a stripped down 2nd Gen... not much to look at...one of those " gotta get that picture out of my mind" types. Now..had it been a 1st Gen ...WOW... it would have been gorgeous..
  24. I had to let the air out of the tire to get mine on. Glad you got it back together.
  25. It worked for me !
