  1. Who are you guys and why are you talking about me ??? As my Uncle Shultz used to say to me.. I know Nothing... I know Nooooothiiiing. If it had really happened it would have been nice to meet you David and the enchiladas would have been great at that Mexican restaurant . If we had really met, I probably would have broken a bolt or something on your bike and had to get it fixed at a friend's shop. Good thing that never happened or you would have had to rat me out to this group. I would have been glad there wasn't any pictures of me holding a broken bolt in a COSTCO parking lot thinking "oh C%@p what did I do now". Glad that never really happened. Look forward to "not" meeting you again sometime. Ride safe. Enjoy the non-existent backrest I never gave you.
  2. Also, if the red light is flashing, that will occur if you are down on gas. It will eventually go to solid red.
  3. I know there was a sticky thread somewhere that kept the best/current place to buy new diaphragms for a 1st Gen MKII. I can't seem to locate it. I met a guy from Montana the other day with an 86 and I am going to help him with his carbs in a couple of weeks. We are going ot replace his diaphragms and sync his carbs. He wants to order the phrams ASAP so we have them. Any help ? Where? From who ? Thanks
  4. As I was riding home I turned down the street towards my house and what did I see ?? an 86 1st Gen: I stopped and spoke to the owner and found out that he was down from Montana. He is having a few issues with the bike so we are going to check out the carbs, throw in some new diaphragms and sync the carbs on the 14th. He just called and said that he just signed up for the temp membership and will join as time goes by. He said he bought it in North Dakota and a Marine had it before the guy he bought it from. Anybody recognize these decals from the previous owner ? The French one seems unique.
  5. Them there fightin' words.....
  6. David, I am back in town for several weeks before I go TDY to Virginia/DC for a month. I'll try to get the back rest off of the 87 on Friday. ( It's stored at my dad's house across town) Bill
  7. David, After recently giving away one of my extra collectors to a member here, my bike then developed the "cold rattle". Seems to go away when it warms up. Anyway, I have read up on the "repair". After taking the one I gave away off of one of my parts bikes ( which was a real PIA) I have decided to take the other one off the parts bike and have a friend of mine repair it. He does stainless welding so he said he could fix it. Maybe he could do both at the same time.. Bill
  8. I for one is very guilty of giving you a hard time about your Harley. I recently learned that my ways were way out of line. Under the ADA ( Americans with Disability Act) I was wrong to harass someone for their obvious mental issues regarding their motorcycle of choice. I apologize for obtaining my laughs at your expense. Hopefully the bad case of Harlybuyinitis is eventually cured and your mental health returns. It is a communicable disease, caught by hanging around the wrong friends, but can be cured. Hang in there Don, we are all praying for your full recovery. DISCLAIMER: The preceeding post is not necessarily the truth or the real thoughts of the author, but is strictly for entertainment purposes. Any similiarities to a real Harley owner is strictly truth...I mean coincidental ...

    Whine?

I read some research that explained the difference between the whine of a 1st Gen and a 2nd Gen... The first Gen whine is from the power of the bike wanting to get out and expend the speed and energy that it has. The 2nd Gen whine is the verbal exclamation from the 2nd Gen riders as the 1st Gen whizzes by..... The only repair for the 2nd Gen whine is to step up to ownership of a 1st Gen.
  10. I presume you are referring to the garbage truck in the background...
  11. I am TDY in the Las Cruces New Mexico area. The lying weatherman said chance of rain yesterday. Woke up to this: The city pretty much shut down since they are not use to this. Spent most the day in a hotel room typing reports... It was melting by late afternoon... its 20 degrees right now and the parking lot is all ice....
  12. I had to check my URL ...I thought for a moment that I had been redirected to the Penthouse Forum....
  13. Yes, that is the same one I have on the 87 and 89. It is real easy on, easy off. I take it off when my wife is riding around town with me so she can get on & off easier..she can get on & off with it on, just easier with it off. It is also adjustable for personal comfort. Got a surprise this morning with the weatherman's " slight chance of rain" David, I might shoot home for the weekend..not sure, depends on the case load on Friday..
  14. David, I have an OEM on my 87 that you could try out for a while and see how it works for you. I am currently TDY in New Mexico but when I get back I can take it off and you can try it out. I have the same one on my 89 and I love it.
  15. Here is a picture I found of one.
  16. I heard that it only occurs with wanna be Ventures...just sayin'...
  17. Paid for 2. Via PayPal. Thanks for doing this.
  18. Well, finished the Mission and said good bye to Harry. Good guy. He will be missed. https://www.patriotguard.org/showthread.php?398693-Harry-Vandervoort-USN-Veteran-ANG-Veteran-Tucson-AZ-12-JAN-15 David.... if you go to Harry's PGR page above, there is a register/join button for the PGR.
  19. I just watched an episode of Pawn Stars and they restored an old Indian Military war bike and said it was worth $30 -$35,000. It had the same type of rifle holder and machine gun, but it had a grenade holder too. I hope you get what you need for the old girl. Good luck !
  20. David, PGR doesn't take much to join. No fees, no real membership apps, just need two things, a heart for Heroes and a dark pair of sunglasses. There are different levels of participation. Motorcycle escorts, flag lines and anything else asked of by the families. PGR started as a defense group against the westboro @$$h@l+s when bikers began forming lines to block the view of the westboros so the families did not have to see their crap. You don't even have to have a motorcycle to honor the Vets and their families. There is the Southern Arizona Chapter that covers this area and that has a lot of members down by you. It is a very awesome, but humbling experience. Once you sign up you will receive email notifications of pending Missions by the Southern Chapter and by the State Chapter Now, remember the dark sunglasses ? They are required due to an extensive amount of tear duct flushing and rejuvenation. Here is a contact email: Southern AZ PGR [sazpgr@gmail.com]
  21. This will be another hard PGR Mission…. Every PGR Mission is hard… except for the one we did recently for a very much alive 90 year old that went for a ride on a trike. Monday I was informed that a friend of mine had passed after a sudden illness. Today they issued a Mission Notice that we were asked to complete a PGR Mission for him. This will be my second PGR Mission for a close friend. That just makes it harder, but yet more of an honor. I had the honor to baptized Harry many years ago. I was going anyways, now I get to honor him in another way. MISSION NOTICE: Harry Vandervoort enlisted in the United States Navy and spent four years defending this great country we live in. After the Navy, Harry joined the Arizona Air National Guard and spent the last 18+ years of his life in this service field. U.S. Navy Veteran Vandervoort was diagnosed a little over a month ago with a terrible illness and passed away suddenly on 3 January 2015 at 56 years of age. U.S. Navy Veteran Harry Vandervoort left behind his wife Rhonda, of 25 years and four children. The Patriot Guard has been invited and it will be a privilege to stand in honor of his service and love for this country.
  22. Why not use the covers ? I have the covers on my 89 ... It is a little bit of a hassle getting them on, but nothing outrageous. Helps to have a 2nd set of hands to help line them up and slide the axle in, but I have taken mine on and off several times by myself.
  23. Thanks for all the warm feelings. The snow lasted on the ground a whole 2-3 hours We just suffer and suffer the weather down here... Today is going to be real tough...
