  1. Exactly. Thanks. I guess I did not scroll down far enough on that page.
  2. When you join, and you will join, there are a few rules you have to follow. First is no bike really exists unless you post pictures of it. Second, put your bike year in the header under your name so when you ask questions we know right away what year you have. If you do not do those two things, we will hunt you down, take your bike and leave you a Honda...or worse, a slower 2nd Gen. Welcome and good luck with the bike.
  3. Sorry to hijack this thread...(OK no I'm not) where are the stuck threads that were available for 1st Gens ? There were some of the (archived?) threads that were worth keeping and I remember them all being in a directory or page together, but I can not find them now. Any help
  4. i don't know if You have 1Roosters bike on there, but since it is now my son-in-laws 1986, here is the VIN JYA1NL006GA001404
  5. It is a very common occurrence since it is not a leak when you go to Phoenix , it's your bike telling you it's "pissed" that you keep dragging it to that hell hole.
  6. Scott, Thanks for your kind words. Sorry if I wasn't clear, but Sgt Walker was not my son-in-law, just a good friend of the family that married a close friend of my daughter's. My son-on-law, who married my Hero daughter, is still in the Army at Ft Bragg. Brian was just a great young man who always had this big smile on his face. We were one of the lucky families that after receiving the phone call about our daughter, that we still have her with us. We came close to becoming a Gold Star family, but luckily missed that. Thanks to all for the kind words. I think every American should visit Arlington. I really wasn't prepared for the feelings and impact. I say drag every VA Administrator and Congressman/Senator down there and make them walk through it before they are allowed the privileged of treating our HEROES. Also, anybody considering the PGR, look into joining and DO IT !! It is a small act, that gives BIG rewards to the grieving family members. Here is the link to Sgt. Walkers PGR Mission: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/watering-hole/70190-loaded-hard-pgr-mission.html
  7. You had a later year (90ish?) 1st Gen didn't you ? Is that what is now in Fayettville ? I am asking since I helped my son-in-law who is stationed at Ft. Bragg buy 1Rooster's 86 1st Gen. It would be cool if I could hook my son-in-law up with another 1st Gen owner. :biker:
  8. I have been TDY to Washington DC for approximately 5 weeks. I chose to stay in a hotel in Arlington Virginia and just travel back-and-forth into the city. For the last 5 weeks as I have driven back to Arlington I have continually felt the pull to stop by and visit a friend. So yesterday as I was driving back from DC I decided to make a U-turn off the freeway and head back for a visit. Let me explain for a moment a little background. In 2008 my Princess daughter enlisted in the U.S. Army. In February 2009, after boot camp and completing Military Police Training she was assigned to a Military Police Unit, Airborne, Fort Bragg North Carolina. I drove my daughter and her belongings from Arizona to Fort Bragg arriving on an early Thursday morning the day of her required check-in. One of her friends from boot camp and MP school who was also assigned to Fort Bragg upon completion was a young lady from Kingman in our home state of Arizona. I met Ashley that morning and was glad that my daughter had a good friend to start off her life at Fort Bragg. In early March 2009, 6 years ago, my daughter was transferred to a Military Police Unit that was being deployed to Afghanistan. This immediate deployment was sudden and unexpected. My wife and I flew back to Fort Bragg in order to attend Green Ramp and see my daughter off to war. As we spent time with her and her friends we got to know them. Besides taking them out to dinners ( Smokey Bones) and even helping some of them purchase items they needed for deployment, we treated a group of them to a local Fair that was going on. One of the group was a strong cocky young man named Brian and his sister Candy. As my wife played mother hen to the kids (that’s what they all were, just kids) she realized that Ashley seem to have an eye on Brian. That night a friendship began that would eventually turn into a loving relationship and marriage. Brian deployed with my daughter, Ashley still assigned to the other unit did not deploy. But during that tour in Afghanistan Brian and Ashley wrote letters, emails and phone calls. Even when Ashley was deployed to Haiti after the big earthquake, Brian and Ashley stayed in touch however they could. During the Afghanistan tour Brian continued to be a big brother to my daughter and was someone who stayed close by her side and helped her while she recovered from her injuries after her MRAP hit an IED. Upon returning from the tour in Afghanistan Brian secretly drove from Texas to Kingman Arizona to ask Ashley’s father for her hand in marriage. They were married and were able to be assigned to the same Military Police unit in Alaska. During this time Ashley’s sister also became an Airborne Military Police Officer and transferred to Alaska. In late 2011 Brian, Ashley, her sister Amber and a cousin were all deployed back to Afghanistan. In early May 2012 Ashley and Brian were able to come home together on a mid-tour leave. During this time, May 6th, 2012, they found a 1957 (?) Chevy pickup truck that Brian fell in love with and purchased it with the intentions of restoring it together once they got back from Afghanistan. They then returned to Afghanistan. On May 13, 2012 Sgt Brian Walker was leading his patrol team on a foot mission and as a true leader does, he led from the front. Brian stepped on an EID giving the ultimate sacrifice for his country. His loving widow was his escort back to the country he loved. Yesterday I had the honor to visit Brian at Arlington National Cemetery. I was totally overwhelmed. Not just by Brian’s final resting place but by the overall enormous size of Arlington. From the moment I arrived I could tell that this would have an enormous effect on me. As I walked down the streets inside the cemetery I could not believe the number of white headstones that surrounded me. It seemed like I was having the beginning of an allergy attack since my eyes are watering and my sight was blurry. Walking alongside the thousands of headstones I came upon a section of freshly turned dirt. This area did not have the white headstones they were way too new all they had was a little black temporary marker. I stopped and thought about the many families whose lives were now recently changed and would be here visiting sometime soon. As I got close to Brian’s location I started cutting across the grass. We had just received snow and rain the last couple of days in I started sloshing through the mud in the water. At 1st I was concerned about my dress shoes getting dirty but as I heard the sloshing and looked down at my shoes I immediately thought about the tens of thousands of soldiers who heroically trudged through mud and water while fighting for our country. All of a sudden the condition of my dress shoes didn’t matter. The squishing I heard was from them, not me. I had seen many pictures of Brian’s headstone but seeing it in person had a total impact. On top of the headstone was a small pile of rocks which looked very much like Arizona rocks which tells me another friend must have recently visited. I sat there for a while thinking about all the memories, the stuff that I’ve written here and think about what it might have been like had he not stepped on that IED. About the time that my allergy attack was in full bloom, 2 ladies approached me. The older lady just walked up and said to me “ can we give you a hug, well actually we need the hugs” . Hugs were freely given. She then pointed to 2 headstones in the next row and stated that the headstone on the left with the red flowers was her son who was killed on his 7th tour and the headstone to the right with the yellow flowers was his 2 young daughters who died in a house fire while deployed. They then turned and walked away standing in front of their headstones. I then started the long walk back to my vehicle.
  9. I couldn't find a picture of the TCI mounted after being moved on an earlier search. So, this past weekend I had the chance to work on my son-in-laws 86 that he bought from 1Rooster. His TCI had been moved so I snapped a picture of it. My understanding is that if you cut one tab off of the TCI it will fit nicely and easier to remove by cutting the tabs off.
  10. The son of a friend of mine bought a Yamaha 500 something street bike that spent the first 1 1/2 years in the shop for various problems. The father finally got involved and went after the dealership (RideNow) or as we love to refer to it, SlimeNow. They tried to claim different and specific repairs were made during the course of the issue. They supplied copies of all the supposed invoices which showed certain dates. The attorney handling the lemon law case hired a specialist that knew the special invoice program they used and was able to go back and prove through an internal tracking part of the program, that they fraudulently changed dates and forged completed work to try to prove their side of the case ( trying to say it was the owners fault) for the engine failure. Once that was all turned over to the factory rep, they refunded the whole amount of the purchase price.
  11. I asked Big Bird and Ernie, they agree on the battery. Bert and the Cookie Monster say that the problem is that it's a 2nd Gen and the only solution is to replace it with a 1st Gen.

    internet TV

So this is an older thread. I just left my daughter's house and they just dumped their cable and went with Hulu. trying to decide if I should do it too. We pay a fortune for cable tv and figured we might be able to save $120+ a month. Any updates from people who have been using HULU or ROKU ? I am really inept to this stuff. My son-in-law said he purchased a better wireless modem/router and is using an X-Box. He said they will give me back the Wei system we gave them a while back that has wireless in it. It will take some getting use to it , but I am wondering if we should go with HULU plus or ROKU. Any updated information I could use to make my decision ??
  13. Arizona just passed a new law helping CCW's protect themselves. The bad guys (who don't follow laws anyways) usually pick places where people are disarmed. Let the places become fewer and fewer. Ariz. House approves bill allowing concealed-carry for public buildings | Fox News
  14. Good Deal !! Good Luck. Glad you are going forward.
  15. Just to clarify Arizona's CCW Permit. They did change the law to not having to need a permit to carry Concealed. You can still obtain a state CCW permit which allows you a few additional benifits especially the reciprocality of being able to carry concealed in other states that recognize Arizona's CCW permit. If the Govt is successful in making CCW permits a national CCW permit, you would be able to carry in any state with a CCW permit. I travel a lot and purchased this guide. Mine is a couple of years old but still gives me a good idea of which states are CCW friendly: 2015 Traveler's Guide to the Firearms Laws of the Fifty States I just drove across country to work in DC for 2 months. I just figured out which states I was good to go in, and which ones needed a little covert actions. P.S. Why do you guys keep it so freakin cold up here ??
  16. What I did to keep from losing mine is to use a small piece of bailing wire on the inside where it catches on the frame and wired it so it will not pop off when disconnected.
  17. Hey Dave. How did the bike run ? Your carbs were really close anyway so it shouldn't have made that big of difference . My drive to DC was a real adventure having followed that ice storm all the way . Kim did sign up here awhile back when I first met him . Just wondering, or is it wandering... ?
  18. I used 2 credit cards. Slip it on from the needle end, carefully slide part of it between the two using one to separate the two rings and the other card to push it down in-between the rings. If you line it up with the tab and the "hole" it will go in-between and you can "carefully" massage the diaphragm down in and work the alignment. Just don't force or use too much pressure.
  19. Hi guys, I am helping a new member install diaphragms in his 86 tomorrow. I remember that some say that the hole in the slider should be at a certain position ( like the 5 o'clock). Does it really matter and if so, where should it be ?
  20. I agree that it is a Ventureline back rest. It is identical to the one on my 89 and is off of my 87. David, the Venture owner from Montana that I met and told you about is coming over Saturday morning to replace his carb diaphragms at 8:30. Then we will sync his carbs. If you want to sync your carbs you are welcome to come by. Bill
  21. It looks like, from the dates, you rode so fast you rode "Back to the Future" . Nice Pics. Any chance you saw a Delorean and Michael J. fox on the road ?
  22. Got mine today. Looks great ! Thanks
  23. PUC, My understanding is that the back rest will fit a 83-85, but the brackets are different to mount to the bike.
  24. Puc, I know it is rough for those of you that can not ride. We really do not try to rub it in as we suffer through our winter days too...like today...
