Hanging fuel cell for Garage ceiling
deepforkriver replied to deepforkriver's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Between fiddling with this and working on sons valkyrie, this is how it is so far. I really like how clean squidley's bottle looks. May have to re-think mine. But for now, I have $4.10 in hose, fitting and rubber washer. Have a piece of copper tubing that helps going from 3/8" to 5/16" fuel hose on bottom. 5/16 seems to fit fuel line on carbs exactly. I am going to put a valve in place of this copper line. Of Course, already had bungy cord, copper tubing and old weedeater tank. Will make it more permanent soon. Hope I can get pics to load. Oh yeah, I simply drilled the tank and threaded the 3/8" pipe thread x 3/8" nipple into it with rubber washer. Holding fuel fine, no leaks. James -
Hanging fuel cell for Garage ceiling

Ok, so I would buy one.... maybe. Our motto has been "why pay $150 for one when you can build it yourself for $300".:crackup:Like most of you, I stand and look and say "I can build one of those" haha So, here's what we got now, fuel tank from weedeater (about a quart), vented cap, trip to tractor supply netted 3/8" hose, misc fittings and rubber washers, etc. $12 so far. Off to the work bench.... -

These are great ideas and I think we are getting there! Cant help but believe there may be a market for these, especially at stealerships. I just wonder if the stealers already have some type of gizmo like this. We had an offroad dealership for a few years and looking back, it would have been SO handy. We did things just like everyone seems to do it now, put the tank on, take the tank off, put the tank on, etc....What a pain in the neck. Would love to come up with a 1/2 gallon permanent solution with clear bottle and accurate marking on the sides for fuel consumption... Maybe some of the VR vendors will chime in with ideas as well... I know I would buy one with reasonable $ tag. Thanks everyone for the ideas. Now to go dismantle the ole Lawn Boy mower behind the shed..... Off we go! -

I KNEW IT... I just knew it.... :rotfl: Ok, so aside from enema's, douches, bongs, colostomy bags, and the like, keep the ideas coming.... hahahaa The friends setup, which I did not pay much attention to unfortunately, was similar to a 2 liter bottle upside down and surgical tubing hanging and attached to fuel line on bike...he simply stored tubing straight up on a clip on bottle hanger to shut off flow. Thanks DJH3, yes makes sense, may end up with your idea. thanks. -
Hello All, Quick question and background. Son rides a valkyrie. We just went thru all 6 carbs and reinstalled... REAL pita to reinstall airbox runners onto top of carbs. We reinstalled and cranked up and have a low idle issues that we believe to be an air leak, further investigation tomorrow. Now for the question, one of his forum buddies we visited had a fuel "bag/cell" hanging from the ceiling with a hose and pinch clamp to run bike without the tank on... Great idea huh. Have any of you made one and if so, out of what with what??? Wanting to make one tomorrow that I will use also on RSV when finished. (torn apart now) Give me ideas... hose, check, clamp, check, bottle.... woops. I need a fuel resistant IV bag! Ideas anyone? thanks for the help, James:biker:

Hello All, First I have searched to no avail for Gen II carb diaphragm replacement vendors or fixes. Found the thread to spray on rubber stuff:think: for a temp fix. While taking apart carbs on my 99 RSV to clean today, I may have put the carb slider cap on a TAD wrong, to say the diaphragm was pinched and a small hole is now in the material at the bend where it seats on carb body. It may have already been there, not for sure.... ANYWAY I need one. Help? Man those carbs were dirty..... Thank you in advance...Looking for new one. Directions? Also, the fuel mixture screws are obviously not set the same. Inside the throat of the carb body where the screw (or hole) is present, One is thru enough to cut yourself on, while the others are barely or not at all... I am not a carb expert. Directions to setting these properly? Thanks, James:bowdown:

I have the 6k installed. Son ordered auto kit and put one in each bike. cheaper that way.. think he got it on amazon with free shipping for prime members and paid $60 for the entire kit, in a suitcase might I add. I like the brightness but as stated before, it is low beam only, which is fine with proper adjustment. The install was very simple, hiding the ballast was little tougher. I put mine inside fairing just under the "cigarette lighter" haha. I do not think I would do it again, because of the "fear factor". I DO NOT trust drivers coming at me at night, and the bright lite seems to hypnotize them.:think:They will run off the road into their ditch to keep away from the light and I just know one day, some dumb teenager will stare long enough to take me out. It certainly lights up the night alright, you can see the drivers coming at you and even prob count their nose hairs, which tends to make me nervous, as I dont like those stupid zingers with blue bright lites coming at me either. Gonna make someone mad some day....Doing maintenance now and prob going back to silverstars... Just sayin....:biker:

We have been several years and it is worth your time. There are always several big names there and LOTS of crashes and bar banging. They run quads and several levels of sprint cars. When we were in the "biz" of performance quads, we sponsored several quads and a sprint car. (Still have the wing from sprint car, hanging in garage, he made it 8 laps before getting flipped) Anyway, we will probably skip this year, supposed to be out of town, but Tulsa has several things to keep your attention during the day. Nothing like the smell of race fuel at night!!! One thing, the ventilation is poor to inadequate in that building. Might consider a few disposable mask to help the ole lungs. Have fun!!!!:biker:

Well, while I would love to help with your quest for a new homestead, you ruled out Oklahoma when you said "HUMIDITY". Sry. been in and out of the used bikes, 4 wheelers, 2 stoke business myself. But the "HUMIDITY" that's a deal killer....Sounds like you are headed to sunny Arizona, New Mexico or Southern Cali my friend.....best of luck to you.

Lenny, you can download an AP for WWLS, a local station to OKC (and the best sports talk radio I have ever found) and listen 24/7 on your phone from Ar. You should pay special attention to 2-5pm with Jim Traber, x-Ok State QB and major baseball player, who is 52 in age and beyond years in knowledge. While some find him a little ruff, he always is dead on. In Okla. we were anxiously awaiting the news that Mike Gundy, the OSU coach was taking the job, which he was offered. Also offered the Tennessee job. SUPPOSEDLY, he has declined Tenn. and obviously declined Ar. Traber said today that while Bielema IS an exceptional coach, the FIT with Arkansas will never work. For many reasons. wwls.com is worth a look and you can stream live (as I do) all day on the computer. The sister station in Tulsa is 97.1 fm and they carry the same broadcast. You will be enlightened, guaranteed. I hope it works out for you, but we have the same problems here with Ostate. Gundy has problems with the AD and last year signed a 3+mil salary with incentives to boot calling this his "Yankees" job he would never leave. Now he has interviewed with 2 schools, some reporting offering 5+mil a year. He declined, but we think it could be to throw his hat in the ring for Texassucks next year when Mackattack has another 8-4 year and is ask to move to the front office. I absolutely LOVE college sports as opposed to pro, but the past few years has worn my resolve Thinnnn...:bang head::bang head: Good Luck.

I always handle these decisions like this: 1. Function is always first. It would appear either of these are perfectly capable of functioning with no repairs or little effort. 2. Money:mo money: Which one can you sell/turn and make the most money on. After all, more money has a way of getting us over the little things we may not like. The idea here is to end up with a functional trailer for NO money. How nice would that be! Ride on!:biker:
