  1. Hey All, Pretty sure I read here somewhere that you can take the rifght side engine/clutch cover with the bike on the side stand without loosing any oil. Can someone confirm that for me?? Ride safe, Mike
  2. Hey Brian, Are you saying Huntington Labs sells the an adaptor for the spin on filter. I can't find it on their website! Ride safe, Mike
  3. Rivco add says 83 to 93! Ride safe, Mike
  4. Yeah...jobs get in the way huh? If I could just figure out a way to get paid to ride......... Ride safe, Mike
  5. Have you seen this statistic. 98% of all harleys sold are still on the road. The other 2% made it home. Ride safe, Mike
  6. Anyone out there have a lower right side fairing/wind deflector with louvers? Black would be great:o) While I'm at it...since these pieces are plastic as opposed to fiberglass...is special paint required. I'd hate to paint this baby and see the stuff melt away!! Ride safe, Mike
  7. Was thinking of doing this...my only concern would be having a stone or something come off the tire and poke a hole in the filter. Ride safe, Mike
  8. Yeah...take off eh! Ride safe, Mike
  9. Not that familiar with these bike yet myself (just got my 83) but you should check your steering head bearings and make sure everything on your front end is properly torqued (like fork brace) and/or you may be in need of a Superbrace. Ride safe, Mike
  10. Yep...that was my intention but I want a long term fix as well. Ride safe, Mike
  11. OK, I'm new(oob) to this forum so maybe I'm just not adept at searching yet but I'm sure I saw a thread with instructions and part numbers for replacing the shifter segment with a VMax or later model Venture. This is to fix the loose dowel pin issue. Ride safe, Mike
  12. I was thinking that Gary but was not sure if that would interfere with anything. Will look more closely at that when I get her home. Ride safe, Mike
  13. While riding abreast may not be illegal in some areas...it's not safe. Riding in a group, you should always ride staggered. It's fine to stop at an intersection side by side (abreast) but bikes should spread out into staggered formation when they start through the intersection and beyond. Although I agree that the outside bike should go wide in the turn, that rider should have the room to move in if required to avoid any obstacles like (loose gravel). Even while riding along a straight road, each rider "owns" that section of the lane in case an emergency maneuver is required. IMHO Ride safe, Mike
  14. Can you say GIDDYUP!! :scared:I can just imagine drifting corners on a dirt road with that puppy! Woohoo! Ride safe, Mike
  15. Ummmm...might be beating a dead horse here but anyone (except Fishrepair:o) know of a shorter rear shock? Even if it doesn't have air ride...I thought I saw something about that but it may have been for the Star Venture Ride safe, Mike
  16. Did you happen to get the price?
  17. Oh well thanks for the input! Ride safe, Mike:thumbsup:
  18. It seems there is no kit available to lower the rear on the 1st gen. Is that correct. Anyone out there know of a "poor man's" fix for this. I'm inseam chalenged at 5' 4" AND A HALF! Ride safe, Mike
  19. Yeah Carl, I was planing to get a pair of those straps. My concern as you mentioned is to hook on to the forks without rubbing and/or damaging the fairing. On bikes without fairings I've always just tied on to the handlbar. I feel like a little kid right now and can't wait to get her here! Ride safe, Mike
  20. Thanks Sleepy...have you checked kijiji? There are a couple for sale out your way...I can send you the info if you like. Ride safe, Mike
  21. OK so I bought it!! Now I need two things (for now:o)...info on how to check and fix this pin issue as well as proper location to hook a tie down when trailering. Actualy...would that be in the manual?? Never thought to bring that home with me. Ride safe, Mike PS; thanks again for the input so far!
  22. Thinking of buying a 83 which is in great condition except that it "suddenly" will not go into 4th or 5th gear. Any ideas on what I might be getting into here. Asking price is $500 and I can do the work myself! Ride safe, Mike
