I think Modulator might have saved me today...

Riding like that on the street is one thing but doing it when there are other vehicles around just shows total disregard for OTHER peoples safety, not just their own. Some of these wingnuts may be very good riders but I doubt they realize how little it would take to put them down permanently! That said, I'm sure we've all seen riders of all kinds of bikes do equally stupid things! That's my

Pin missing from shift segment
Yamamike replied to raybear71's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hey Ray, FYI...those pins are just solid 4 x 20 millimeter dowel pins. I got a similar deal as you did...got the bike for $450 cuz the guy thought the trany was pooched. Cost me 50 cents to fix!! Now I'm on to other cosmetic and upgrade type repairs. Good luck! -
What oil did you use? Is it maybe way too heavy?

Can any CD player be used in 1st Gens? Just wondering cuz of the position it has to be installed in. Those of you who have them...any serious skipping issues or is that a thing of the past with newer automotive players?

Had the same thing happen when selling my Virago a few weeks ago...guy was very persistent and asked for my email address. Supposedly ships bikes overseas. Don't give them your email address either!

Hey Carl, Not sure what you bought from them but I just compared their price for Kenda tires and they're way more expensive than Royal Distributing. The closest store to you and I would be Guelph. They are reasonably priced and they have the tent sale (no tax on anything...even special order stuff) coming up April 19th to 29th. During this sale you can also scratch and save up to 75% (I think). Just thought I'd put that out there!

Tires, like anything made of rubber has a "shelf life". Some manufacturers recommend tire be replaced after only 5 years. I personally think this is excessive...there are as you said, many opinions on this.

I'm guessing that if they also have the load resistors, that's where the buzz is coming from. -

Also speaking from experience...not necessarily so! -
This may have been included in this thread but it's way to long to read the whole dang thing! I read a cleaning article on a windsheild manufacturer's website (can't member which) stating that the worst thing you can do to a plastic windsheild is rub in a circular motion. That's how you get all those crosshatch marks that only show up when you ride into the sun and cause all that glare. They say ALLWAYS rub in a linear motion (up and down or side to side). It does not matter which direction you choose but once you do...allways do it the same.

Hmmm...interesting about the groove left behind...I suppose you could use that as a guide (maybe that's whay it's meant for?) for pistriping after panithing? Thanks guys!

Almost ready to start sanding my ol girl and I'm wondering about the pinstriping. Is covered by a clear coat (OEM) or anything? I'm just wondering what will happe when I start sanding! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
