I got one off of ebay. It came with a backrest for my wife. She loves it. I made some side brackets and the had them welded to a luggage rack I made. A Harley tour pack is bigger but hard to find and more expensive.

Beaded and Sheepskin
slim_32 replied to bwk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I use a thick sheepskin seat cover for my bike. I can't remember where I bought it. I cut the sheepskin out to the shape of the seat. Then I used contact glue and glued a foam excerise mat 3/8 thick to the sheepskin. I also put elastic strips on each side so I can slip on and off as wanted. My wife an I both love the extra comfort. -
Trailer wire converter?
slim_32 replied to Bobby Joe's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hi Bobby, When I built my trailer to pull with my 08 RSTD, I ordered a wire harness from M61A1mech, I think you can find him in the items for sale post. I went to Advanced Auto and bought a Hoppe Power Converter. It was pretty easy to hook up. Good Luck -
Hi Don, it is a harbor freight trailer, With a plastic cartop carrier, like what they sell at sears. I just painted it all black. But I am not sure if the paint will hold up. It was a fun project. I even had the wife wrenching on it with me. We are headed to Tennessee in July, I am looking for to riding the Dragons Tail while weare out there.

I got my new trailer put together. Took it out for a test ride. Everything was good. A special thanks to M61AMech for the wire harness, and Carbon one for the hitch. Both were very easy to install and work great.

I have been to Sturgis 3 times with my wife. There are a lot of people and bikes. But that is what makes it fum. We trailered our bikes out. Seams like it always rained on the way home. We stayed at a camp ground about 5 miles east of sturgis. Lots of campers, clean showers, beer tent. Take the camper have a good time.

Handlebar riser options
slim_32 replied to irbk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
When I put the new bars on my bike it felt like I was riding a different bike. It ook some getting use to , but I love them. -
I have a 2008 RSTD with the quick release passenger backrest. Does anyone know what other years this will fit on? The reason I am asking is that I am having a custom made rack to mount a trunk on. I know it will fit my bike but I am wondering about other years. The guy who is making it for me maybe interested in them for other people.

You did a very nice job. I hope mine turns out that nice.

I use the sheep skin seat cover when we go on long rides also. Mine does not have the gel pad. You can buy on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-GEL-MEMORY-FOAM-Motorcycle-Seat-Cushion-Cover-Cruiser-Faux-Sheepskin-/320915451567?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ab80d2eaf&vxp=mtr

Honest advice needed
slim_32 replied to csf's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have a 08 RSTD, it is a great riding bike. The only thing I don't like about the bike is the heat you get off of the engine onto your feet. Your feet get very hot. I don't notice any engine wine.
