gunboat replied to a topic in Watering Hole
condor now i am one of those 29 that have pre-registered. BUT I AM NOT ON THE EAST COAST. i'll be driveing the bike from houston about 2,000 miles one way. should not be any excuses why no more ventureriders within 600 miles can't be there and support this rally. don c.:fiddle: -

hi reiny and committee crew i for one wish to thank you and the committee crew for a job well done. ya'll can only do so much, i hve been behind this rally ever sense i read about it last year. i have been told i could not compare it to the ft. collins rally, that may be true. were i work we have to bid for vacation time off in november the year before we take our vacation. that can be a challange to plan for a vacation so early. i have also been told that some people may be waiting for the last minute to make plans to attened. as you have stated you can't get any price cuts on stuff. when the discounts are based on orders of 100. YES TIME IS RUNNING OUT. it's a shame there's not even a firm order for 100 t-shirts and patches even if you don't show up. i try to pick up special t-shirts were ever i travel. as i have stated i'll be there. best reguards don c -
when i lived there 5 years ago you entered the pike got a ticket and payed at what ever exit you got off at. there are service centers were you can stop, get gas, or eat. with out leaving the pike. don c.

hi sonat thanks so much for sharing your words on safety, and input on the c/t mod. i may have ruffled some feathers but i don't like to told i can't or it's not good for me. as i have said this mod is not for everyone and thats their choice to make . but for me I LIKE the c/t mod. and i will share what i learn from this mod to anyone who wants to know. best reguards don c

hi lowell i paid 75.00 w/tax from nt&b. i went to see if they had one in stock, they didn't. but had it the next day. i had looked at www.tirerack.com they had it for i think 62.00 of 65.00 but thats with out shiping so it would have been about the same price range. but i got it faster at nt&b. my closest sears store also carries it but didn't have it in stock. but would order it for me. i guess the c/t came from the same warehouse since sears and nt&b are the same company now. just to let you know a few of my co-workers are doing a ride over to kerrville to ride the three sisters on saturday june 7th. have not run the sisters since february of this year and still had the m/c tire on the back. so any one wants to come along thats ok to. i'll be giving the c/t a good work out. will keep you informed. best reguards don c

hi tt just to let you know here in texas there is NO inspection or insurance requirments for tow behind private trailers. now the comerical trailers are a different thing. you know like 18 weeler trailers or 5 ton trucks and above. the trailers you can pull behind cars and pickup trucks like up to 1 ton dually pickups. THERE IS NO INSPECTION for these types of trailers and i know. to renew my trailer license plate sticker i can just go down to the courthouse or a annex and even to some of the grocery store chains ( like kroger or heb etc). thanks anyway i like my c/t and will be happy with the milage i will be getting from it. thank god for texas texan by birth and american by choice best reguards don c

hi tt would you not run a hack/sidecar rig on the rsv if you wanted one. the owners mauel i belive says not to do it BUT there are folks who do. i have chosen to go to the DARK SIDE with this c/t mod. as i have stated this mod is not for everyone and thats ok. i will share my experiance with this mod as i put the miles behind me. i am a F.A.A. certified aircraft maintance tech. with over 20 years experiance. back in my early days i worked for a major regional airline. my last job there was in the tire shop i would break down and rebuild tire and wheel assy's. O did you know you mybe flying on a airplane that has recaps on the landing gear. yes a/c tires can be recaped up to 8 times as long as the tire body is in sound shape. we use to get recaps from a company up in west verginia called wilkerson. these recaps were cetified to be used on aircraft. i also used car tires on my double axel trailer that i used to haul my old ford 8n tractor around on. now i would not put c/t's on a heavy duty trailer. but down here no one gives a rat's behind if you use a c/t on a trailer. i just wanted to share some info with you and others. i did read on the delipi forms about the insurance issue and what i read there was no problem. but i guess there's sue happy people everywere. best reguards don c

hi lowell welcome to the dark side. i now have over 2,000 miles on the c/t mod and i love it. i know this is not a mod for everyone but it's working for me. and thats one thing i like about this site the sharing of info, new things. i have been reading about the d/s on the delphiforms, all good reports. your friend with the gw with the c/t helped plant the idea. if it's good enough for a g/w rider it's good enough for me. i will keep posting of my experience with the c/t mod. and if i know you, you'll have 10,000 miles or more on your c/t before christmass. be safe, live well my freind see ya soon. best reguards don c

Ignition for 99 RSV
gunboat replied to StarRider07's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
hi you might try pinwallcycles. they have used parts for our bikes. i have purchased several parts from them and have been very pleased with their service. there is a link to their site on the right hand side of the forms page best reguards don c. -
i've dropped mine several times, most of them within the first 6 mos. but the worst time i dropped it, i was in my garage and had just changed the oil and filter. i was laying on the floor looking for any leaks. i had cut a couple of 2x6's to put under the kickstand to make her more level. i reach up to pull the bike over a little more level and over she came. on top of me in my garage. i can't move i'am pinned between the bike my lawn mower and the side garage wall. at my feet are cabinets can't excape that way. the only way out is crawing out past the exhaust pipes. after i craw out from under the bike, i'am looking around the 'hood to see if anyone saw me. nope coast is clear. now i'am trying to figure out how to get her up. now i figure i'll just stand on the floorboards and yake her over. just like you see all those sailboat sailors do ( leaning to one side keep the boat from tiping over ). nope that an't happening. i finaly get the bright idea to put my floor jack under the rt. passanger floorboard. and behold she's starting to come back over to the left side. i tell my wife later that enveing what happend. and she's just a rolling with laughter. say's if you had your cell phone on i could have call 911. right like that was going to happen, those emt's would still be laugthing. i still use the 2x6's to get her level, BUT I DON'T TOUCH THE HANDLEBARS ANYMORE while changing the oil. :whistling: peace to all don c

hi all i have been planing to do this event since i've first heared about it late last year. my 13 y.o. daughter is excited to, and she doesn't ride with me that much. i have been working on the bike off and on the last 5 months to be ready to ride over 1,800 miles one way. reiny and other venture folks have been working hard to put this together. but come on now only 9 people out of 4,000 have only signed up. i understand things happen and gas prices have gone in to orbit. i was expecting at least 50 others to have commited by now. reiny as i've said so before, my daughter and i will be there. i'am still bring that clarion 6-disk cd for a door prize. sorry to have vented, but what i've read about ft. collins rally, i just figured the rally in canada would be even greater. peace to all:225: don c

hi all here's an update on my cb problem i had on my '99 rsv. i cut off the old oem antenna first. ( wrong i should have waited ) i found the cb and cb antenna cable are NOTCONECTTED. well now i Have to the Marshell Mod, this is a good thing. but i dreded spliting the faring. no fear its a peice of cake after taking it on and off a couple of times you get good at not losing all the bolts. a #3 allen wrench is another matter, i droped it at the front of the cylinder head. it bounced around a little bit before it fell down some were in between the front of the engine and the radiator. now i have more work to do 'cause that allen wrench never hit the ground. well now after closing the faring for the second time i remember i was going to do the BIG SHELL MOD that's putting the dual star grip heaters on the handle bars. i do have heated gloves and a heated jacket but i hate having all that wireing all tucked around inside my jacket. so i reopen faring and wire up everything. finaly close up the after making sure everything works as planed. sorry for the long post but tried to add some humor while doing maintance/ upgrades. thanks again for the help don c:cool10::cool10:

hi everyone thanks don and linda i had a great time. good to see everyone and meet some new riders. don again tell the ride captian good job was some great back roads. i had been thru bellville before but not from fm 529. i stoped at 2920 & 290 went to the right to gas up at the exxon there. but gas was $3.49 a gal. the pilot truck stop back to the left was $3.39 a gal. so you know were i gased up at. i drove 170 miles between fillups, maybe could have made it to tomball but needed to do a pottie brake anyway. we need to do another m & e soon. might be able to talk my daughter in coming next time. i told her about the ice cream we had in fayetteville, she looked at me kinda funny and said YOU HAD ICE CREAM ? yep and it was good. she didn't want to come along she might next time. best reguards till we meet again don:thumbsup:
