yep i had a 84 1200 wing and the stator went south on it. the dealer had to pull the motor to replace it. bike was down for over a week, the bill was over $700.00. the new stator was warrented for as long as i owned the bike. honda addressed this (stator ) issue with the 1500. take off a few screws and remove the stator yourself. i'll never own a 1200 model again. just my 2$ don c.

hi josh welcome to the site. their are no strangers, everyone is family here. i have the venturedad trailer hitch on my scoot. realy like it, i took my trailer loaded to the gunwalls, with the overflow straped to the top of the trailer. the bike towed it just fine at speeds of 75-85 mph. went to the 08 international rally in canada with no problems. 4,438 miles round trip. this was the first time i have towed a trailer with a bike. again welcome to the site. best reguards don c.

hi mark i belive when i mounted my c/t i used upwards of 100 psi. it did make a rather LOUD pop when seated. as i rethink the way i mounted the tire i did not lube the rim as flb said. i did let the tire and rim set outside in the sun for awhile before airing it up. for lube i used some old dow-corning (dc-33) o-ring lube i had laying around. but i only lube up the bead on the tire and not the rim it self. so that should make a difference as flb said. yes i still like the c/t. just my 2 . what was the name and size of the radial front tire you had told me about? best reguards don c.

Clutch slave rebuild
gunboat replied to jburrell's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
glad to been able to help you on the clutch, learned a few things while doing it. now ready to do my clutch slave cylinder when needed. thanks to all for the input. found out you do not have to remove all the stuff the service manual says you have too. thanks james-jburell ( for buying the vac / bleed tool sure saved a lot of time). best reguards don c. -

hi james here is post don c. -
i got one on the scoot comming out of frederickburg, tx heading back to houston. was doing 75 on cruise control. saw the reduce speed sign to 55 ahead but didn't slow down. had a suv on my left side that was passing me. came around a curve bingo there he sat, the suv must have seen him first. 'cause the brake lights came on. to late for me hit the brakes as fast as i could, got me doing 68 in a 55. but i was able to take a online deffensive driving course. still had to pay $108.00 court cost, $18.00 fee for the state dvm to mail me a copy of my driving record of the last 10 years to make sure(i had been a good boy and had not recevied any other tickets that were dismissed by thaking the online course). the online course was $25.00 and it was a full 8 hrs with regular breaks. the course would just shut down when it was time for a break. did not have to take a day off from work as i work mid-nites. did not save any money but the ticket was dismissed and no report to the insurance co. best reguards don c.

2 gen clutch release cylinder r&r
gunboat replied to gunboat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
hi bob it's like ponch said. but james(jburell) has bought a used '99 rsv a couple of weeks ago. the clutch went out on him, i went over to look at it. found very little fluid in the system, he told me " he had noticed a couple of drops of fluid under the bike." so after a little bit of work finaly got his clutch working. told james to keep a eye on the fluid level, he has had to add fuild to the system. so we are doing a clutch cylinder rebuild. i don't think it's a clutch hose leaking, i feel there would be more fluid on the ground. so hopefully just an hour or two james will be back on the road. he's also has the ignition switch problem too. thanks for asking & best reguards don c. -

2 gen clutch release cylinder r&r
gunboat replied to gunboat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
thanks for the reply, while looking at the middle case cover i can see the two bolts that hold the clutch release cylinder. it just seems like their should be a better way than to pull half the bike apart. maybe its a way for the steeler to keep your bike awhile and charge more. saying it takes x number of hours to pull all the stuff off instead of just a couple hours. i find it hard to belive i would have to pull the stator cover off. thanks for the input. best reguards don c. -

hi all i am going to help james (jburell) to rebuild his clutch release cylinder. i have a question about the removal of it. looking at the manual i have to remove the shift rod, the stator cover, left floorboard, left exhaust and middle gear case cover. can't i just pull the middle gear case cover only to be able to access the two bolts to remove the clutch release cylinder? looks like there would be enought room to unbolt it and drop the cylinder down and out the bottom. seames to me that this one cover would be the easiest and fastest way to go. any ideas or suggestions. thanks in advance & best reguards don c. -
hi tt i know you were full of hot air now i know why. man that's way cool to be able to play the pipes and to be on stage with rod. congrats wish i could be there. best reguards don c.

hi forgot to add if you have a puddle of fluid on the clean cardboard. stick your finger in it and smell it, clutch/brake fluid has a different smell to it than used oil. if you fill your oil passed the midway point of the sight glass. it will leak out of one of these hoses and leave a couple of drops under this same area. don c.

hi sounds like your clutch push lever or hyd. line may be leaking at the banjo bolt. at the base of the left rear cylinder there is a black rubber boot/ squre. pull it off, it has a little peice of rubber like a(o-ring that) slips over the bleed screw. spray some carb or disk brake cleaner down in to this hole. clean the area up as best you can. refill the clutch fluid then put a new peice of cardboard back under there. then squeeze the clutch handle a bunch of times, use a good flashlight ( bright beam of light) now just watch for any leaks. their are other sources but i know about this link to look up these parts. www.cyclepartswarehouse.com gives the ipc break down as #27-plush lever comp.----$48.20 p/n--ifk16381-11-00 #28-bleed screw kit------$10.66 p/n--1nl-w0098-00-00 #29-plush lever seal kit---$12.14 p/n--26h-w0098-00-00 also you can view the ipc to see where all this looks like and fits. i think #27 comes with the other 2 parts to make one unit. this is for a 1999 or newer scoot. hope this helps don c.

hi 1rooster the way i understanded it these boots crack on the rubber coating. this coating just covers the aluminum sleeves. and is no concern / no air leaks or performance issuses. there is a post some were in the archives on this. i think it was goose and he had posted some pitcures. mine are cracked all so. hope this helps. best reguards don c.
