  1. hi yes batteries do just die or start not holding a full charge. i did a group buy for a oddesy pc545 on this site back around january of this year. condor set it up and did a great job. i had no problems with the battery. till i went to the 08 international rally in kitchner, did a numbers of stops enroute. on the 2nd day of the rally my battery let me down. end result after a lot of troubleshooting found out the battery lost a cell and only putting out 11.5 volts. i had to pay $173.00 cdn for a regular wet cell battery to get me home. i have a accumate trickle charger that i have been using from my other bike. when i was a goldwinger the saying was to replace the battery every year, cheap insurance to keep from being stranded on the side of the road. i belive freebird has had his oddesy batt for at least 5 years and has never had any problems. all i can say is i have a new replacement oddsey battery setting on my work bench. will put it in the scoot when the wet cell battery goes south. i'am going to get my money's worth out of it first. i plan on installing one of those volt meter's on the scoot soon so i can keep an eye of the battery & charging system. best reguards don c.
  2. hi all sarge i can't complain i lucky to still have a house standing. folks on the gulf coast are the ones who have it the worst. news said the beaches in galveston will be open this weekend. i'am not going down there. when you see bigbob tell him hi for me. best wishes to him and his family. best reguards don c.
  3. hi you will need 2-sb7100 for the front calipers 2-sb8125 for the rear caliper and the clutch slave cylinder. i found out that you may or may not have to trim a little metal off the bottom of the left rear cylinder fin cover. the top of the speed bleeder is real close to cylinder fin. it helps to install the speedbleeder in the clutch cylinder if you remove the fin cover first. also keep the rubber square (dirt cover) that covers the oem bleeder you will see why when you get the speedbleeders. they come with there own rubber boots these are fine every where else but the clutch slave cylinder. feel free to contact me if you need any help. best requards don c.
  4. hi all i remember seeing this done back in the mid 60's in my home town. i thought the guy was nuts, cutting all that rubber off my tires. but he showed me that the pile of rubber on the floor was very thin. that it trued up the tire. but i haven't seen this done in many years, so i guess it would work ok. best reguards don c.

  6. hi beer i pulled my trailer to the 08 international rally. i had it loaded to the gunwalls and straped more on top. 4,438 miles there and back from houston. i have a swevel hitch on the trailer. i now have over 10,000 miles on the c/t. the only problem i noticed when pulling the trailer, was when a 18-wheeler was passing or when i was passing them. the trailer started wis-washing( swing side to side ) not bad just a little. but would settle down when ever i passed or the big rig passed me, and it didn't happen every time. but i don't feel the c/t had any thing to do with it. outside of that the trailer would pull great at or above posted speeds. even with a down pour outside of knoxville, tenn never had a problem with traction. i'am running 34psi in the c/t. a couple of weeks ago i rode with jb-lonestarmedic to check out some sites for the texas stamped. when i got back home i checked my tire pressures. the c/t had 26psi and the front was 30psi. i had not checked my air pressures since before i left for the 08 int. rallythe 28th of june. i for one am well pleased with my decision to cross over to the darkside. feel free to contact me any time. best reguards don c.

  19. hi condor just to let you know i am very happy with the battery i got from you. i tried to have it fixed here localy. and my first attempt was not a good one butt thats not your fault. as i stated even odyssy is having problems with batteries plus. they just lost a future customer. by the way they had a $145 .99 price tag on a pc545 setting on the shelf. thanks again jack. best reguards don c.
  20. hi all i would like to add ihave been very happy with both my odyssey batteries. the one in my truck is 7 years old. never had a bit of trouble from it. when the pc545 let go we were in a group ride heading down to nigiara falls, was just a few miles from the base camp at the 08 international rally. until this point i never had any problems. the display on the control head for the radio/cb started flashing on & off. never had that happen before. did it a couple of times before shutting down, i thought my radio system had gone out bike was still running fine. just a little futher down the road the enginr starting dieing at low rpms. would give it gas and the engine would speed up, did this a couple of times. the last time i was doing about 30 mph when the bike just died, was able to pull off the road and park. all i had was the head light, bike would not start. someone came back from the group to check on me. told them what was going on, said it sounded like the igniton switch went bad. we all know this is a problem with the bikes. they left to catch back up with the group and report in on my condition. daryl came back to help me and said it sounded like my stator or voltage regulator went bad. now i'am over 1600 miles from home and no one wants to think their having this kind of problem. with daryl's help we load up the bike and take it back to base camp. we have to wait until the afternoon till more experinced members come back to camp. lowell, rocket and big bob stop by to look things over but we still need more experiance with this problem. with the help of brad(squidly), gamber, hal99 we troubleshoot the chraging system, check the stator, voltage regulator and all wires. even with a battery charger i'am only getting 11.8 volts out of the battery. brad take his battery out of his brand new bike and puts it on mine. his battery has a charge of 13.8, start the bike volts drop to 13.6 or so but recovers to 13.8. hay we have a winner, it's a dead cell in my battery not he stator or voltage reg. so grambler and i head off to buy a new battery. after the 3 canada tire store finaly get one. have not had any problems with the new battery. all i'am trying to say is i had to buy a new battery on the road and thanks to so many venturerrider members who helped me with my problem. returned home to texas and still have not had any problems with the charging system since. all i wanted to do was inform everyone of my trouble with the odyssey warranty with ONE company(BATTERIES PLUS) out of several other companies here in houston who handle the odyssey. just becaus i bought the battery some where else i should not have a problem getting warranty service. i did not call anyone eles in houston. i called odyessy and they are taking care of my problem. thanks to all for the help past and presant. will update as required. best reguards don c.
  21. hi all as some of you know. my new (6 mos old ) pc545 odyssy battery went south on me, at the '08 international rally in kitchener. well i'am finaly getting around to getting it replaced under warranty. last nite in went on to their web site. (http://www.odysseyfactory.com ) looking for a local delear to handle the warranty. the closes delear is a batteries plus about 20 or so miles from me, gave them a call. told the young man the tale about the battery. now the fun begins, the young man wants to know the mod. # of the battery i tell him a pc545. then he wants to know what kind of m/c i tell him a '99 yahama rsv. then he wants to know what cc's is the engine i tell him 1300. he's having trouble, i tell him again it's a pc545. i bought it in a group buy from california. he tells me they have two types of batteries for my bike 1 is an agm and some other one. well now isn't the pc545 an agm? i ride over there this morning and take the battery inside the store. here we go again. this guy has to call hi manger at home to find out if they will do the warranty. now the guy ask me did i buy the battery from them (batteries plus). i tell him no, he tells his manger this and i'am told they NO CAN DO. i'am starting to fume now. i say the battery is only 6 mos old and has a national warrenty. i'am now told they will only honor the warranty if i bought it from them. great here we go passing the buck. i walk away and call odessy home office. talk to a nice lady repete the tale of the battery, and what i was just told at barreries plus. she informs me that they are having some trouble with them honoring the warranty if you didn't buy from them. ok i ask what do i do now? well she transfers me to the warranty division in warrensburg, mo. talk to another nice lady kathy mitchell, tell her the tale as it is up to now. wants to know if my stator is working properly. i said yes, what is the volt output of the battery 11.8 i tell her. how often do i charge the battery? i don't know when ever i feel like it. says i may not be charging it often enought. then wants to know what brand of charger i'am using. i tell her a accumate, she ask is it on their approved list of chargers? i say i don't know. i bought it for my other bike 'cause the accumate i read was suppose to be one of the better 2-amp trickle chargers. she tell me i need a 3 amp of better charger. well i tell her i've never had a problem useing this charger. i plug it in and usualy it's in the green in 20 minutes or so. what it comes down to is she's going to help me, sent me the warranty replacement paperwork by e-mail. mailing it back to her tonite on my way to work. gosh i love it when everything comes together. now if only BATTERIES PLUS gets their act together. sorry for the long post. best reguards don c.

  24. i think the pig slaping show was pettery good but i don't wish that on anyone. been there done that. i don't scare easy but that pig slaping is at the top of the list. the ride on the steam engine of the texas state railroad will be great adventure if you never had the chance to be around or ride any steam engines. it won't be like rideing the rails upin the rockies but puttery good for east texas. i put almost 800 miles on the beast by the time i got back home. oh jb the 15 bean soup was better after it had aged. there is just something about the roar of 2 second gen's with burbs on them. mike (mavrick) it was good to ride round with you & herb (master guns). sarah my youngest say's she going to come along. see ya soon. best reguards don c.
