hi dale been looking forward to meeting up with you. i know this is sort of back to back, but not everyone will go to both. this is after the cody roundup also. but i have not seen anything for a m&e in louisiana before. so its time to plan something. i plan on doing both, good lord willing & the creek doesn't rise. best reguards don c.

hi folks back at the '09 international rally i meet two new vr riders from baton rouge,la. deeta & joe. i told them about a ride i had been thinking of, to the tobasco plant in new iberia, louisiana, where the hot sauce is made. it is about a 4-5 hr trip from houston. i have only been there by tugboat to pick up salt for barges for the winter road use. i thought this would be a great way to have a m&e with our fellow v/r riders from the great state of louisiana. i would plan on this around the 26'th of september '09. i'll put this out there for everyone's thoughts. on their web site i saw were you can buy a GALLON JUG of tobasco sauce, just found out they now offer a tabasco brand soy sauce, hot da--. www.tabasco.com. best reguards don c.

if i understand you question your wanting to put a c/t on the front of the bike? if it is i don't think anyone here has done it yet or will. belive some folks are taking a rear m/c tire and reversing it putting it on the front. but are using a c/t on the rear. don c.

hi charlie welcome to the darkside. please keep us informed on how it's working for you. 99% of us who have switched love the c/t mode. the other 1% are going back to a m/c 'cause they didn't like it. thats ok this is a mode not for everyone. but it's working for me and my style of riding. best reguards don c.

Metzler ME 880 upgrade
gunboat replied to 920shrek1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
i had good results with the 880's on both of my bikes. my honda 650 shadow sprit, front & rear. then my rsv front and rear. but i now have a bfg c/t on the rear and still run the 880 on the front. but as posted not everyone has had GOOD RESULTS. best reguards don c. -
i think just about any tire store. discount tire, tire rack, any local tire shop? i have a bfg on my bike right now with 30,000 miles on it. may have to change it before long, trying to get another 10,000. but the center is starting to get a little thin but the egdes still look like new. best reguards don c.

hi paul i mounted my own c/t didn't balance it, but seams to be ok. cycle gear took off the old m/c tire but said they would not mount the c/t. i bought the c/t from national tire & battery which is owned by sears. they said the same thing.( maye i gave them too much info. ) some have had a dealership or other tire shop mount it for them with no issuses. my air compressor only goes to 120 psi but had no problems. another d/s had to go to a guy who mounts big truck tires. had a pto driven air compressor that would go to 195 psi. i belive we didn't go over 130 psi, his air compressor would not go past 115 psi. so we just neede a little extra push. trick is to lube the tire beads up good and to set it in the sun for awhile to heat it all up. best reguards don c.

my bfg 155 c/t is almost 10 mph off. lonestarmech & masterguns both vertified this. no big deal just have to keep a mental note on it. the bfg is about 1/2 inch shorter in height than the stock m/c tire & the kunmo c/t. i will try the kunmo next time i change the c/t, should be another 10,000 miles or so ( have 30,000 on it now ). there are other tire makers who have c/t's that will fit, but the prices start going up. the mickey thompson looks good but not for $165.00. also the verinsten looks good too but it's a high $ also. i have a list at home, but is post here on the darkersider side. keeps us all informed, glad to help any way i can. best reguards don c.

hi folks with all the excitment of having squidley & sweetnothing staying with me after the rally. i forgot to say GREAT JOB to all involved with this years international rally. i'am sorry to have had to pull out of the kid's activites at the last minute but some you know why. i had not planed to come to the rally but at the last minute decided to leave houston at 2:30 am wednesday morning and head to the hub. even with one good eye i said i had to try and make it. good lord willing an the creek didn't rise i made it. surprised a bunch of folks plus my self 'cause of my eye i had not rode my bike in 3 weeks at that point. it was good to see all my freinds & fellow ventureriders from all over. especially my canada brothers & sisters who had made us ( sarah & i ) feel so welcome at the '08 international rally. i know i never will as i hope sarah will also. i look forward to the '10 international rally where ever it's held. peace & love to to all. best reguards don c.
