  1. well brian it's time to change that. i have a old sony 8mm movie camcorder i haven't used in years. don't even know lf the battery will hold a charge. O i forgot it will also use 100 volt a/c. but in this day & age i don't fill that's a good option. sort of like our cassett player on the venture. any one else got a idea? just my don c.
  2. your welcome rick, way to go brian. hope to see you guys in november for the "bend" ride. don c.
  3. i agree with tartan on this, sue the heck out of the dealer first & then the painter. don c.
  4. hi vance don't know how much tread is left on the front tire, but you could also try a smaller front tire. i have been using a metzeler mathron 880 130/90-16 on the front. as i have posted before i have had no issuses with the me880's but others have. this is another option you can try, there probley other 130/90-16 tires. i will be installing a avom corbra 150/80r-16 front tire in a day or so. to see how i like it with the kohmo c/t on the rear. i hear the ride is fantastic, but if i have a flat foot problem with this f/t. i will be lowering the front. good luck keep us informed. don c.
  5. hi kreg i was planing on doing just that. it will be a long day for me, but nothing i have not done before. about what i can remember it's about a 3 hr ride just to lafayette. then about another 45 min to avery island. will need to leave houston no later than 7:30 am. we'll talk about it again at kell's (wilsontamu83) mini mx day saturday. don c.
  6. hi david looking forward to seeing you & kathy again. ya'll have fun & be carefull up there at cody. i here it can be cool this time of year at beartooth pass. don c.
  7. hi rick how soon do you want to do this? i'am a little ways from ya, but not that bad a run. i hope to have my new avon corba tire mounted some time wensday. have a mini-mx day at kelly's (wilsontamu83) this coming saturday. i could head that way saturday enveing & meet up with you sunday some where. i don't have to be back at work till tuesday night. if no one is closer, i'll be gald to help. don c.
  8. hi buddy you take care of your self, your are in my pryers. we will meet again some were on the road, will be good to ride with you & peggy. don c.
  9. let me just add i'am 5'7" & a inseam of 26" so i kinda short legged. don c.
  10. hi kenny sounds good to me. don c.
  11. hi vance i had one of those on my bike when i bought it 4 years ago. but i was a 1" kit, i later bought a 1/2" kit from barrons. that was to be used together to lower the rear a total of 1-1/2". i wonder if they have revised it kit? anyway i took the whole mess off 'cause i was draging the pipes in curves and bottoming out on the shock lower mounting bracket. but i found out that my rear shock was bad almost 2 years after i bought the bike. new shock and going back to stock everything took care of the scraping & bottoming out. now i'am a short legged fellow, but i have not lowered the front yet. i will be going to mount the avon corba 150/80r-16 in a day or so. i have been using a me880 130/90-16 which is a little lower. i will be lowering the front if i have a "tippy toe" problem. don't know if this helps or not just my oberservations & 2-cents. don c.
  12. hay kelly that "lift thing" i got is not a carbon one lift. i saw a real one and i have no idea what kind of lift adapter i have. all i know is my jack won't go low enought for it to fit under the blke. don c.

  14. hi dale i kinda threw that in there just to see if there was any interest. but if any of the louisiana ventureriders would host a mx day, i would be willing to ride over and help do the carb tune & what ever i could help with. i still plan on september 26th to do a ride from houston to avery island ( tour the tasboco plant ). stlll hope to have a meet and eat there. when i come over to avery island on the 26 of sept i'll bring mine to show you. best reguards don c.
  15. hi dave if you ride to denver be carefull, if you decide to stay here. it will be good to see you again. the valve shim check is i would say is a full days job. i think it would get easyer the more you do it. i think we need a full day's mx course with the Doctors squidley, ponch, goose & buddy rich in attendance. these guys are the tops. i belive you can go beyond the 26,000 miles and not worry about it. my bike had 21,000 on it and didn't check the valves until over 65,000. don c.
  16. hi dale you did good, i have the same pump. i have both pumps like sarge (rick). just be carefull this pump is not realy made to use on the forks. the syringe type pump has a more percise gauge and a slower fill rate. best reguards don c. p.s. i also have the morgan carb tune & a clip on tack. can come over there to help ya & anyone else. did i hear something about a mx day in your neck of the woods?
  17. hi all just talked to kelly (wilsontamu83 ) about a short notice mx day at his place this coming saturday sept,19 about 9:00 am. we will be doing a carb synch and drive shaft lube on his bike maybe more. anyone else need some mx come on out. kelly will chime in here shortley with some details. best reguards don c.
  18. mike glad your here, congrats on the new bike. you will enjoy it, and you have a new family here who will help ya any way they can. best reguards don c.
  19. thanks for the pictures, congtats on the new daughter-in-law. glad to see you posting. best reguards don c.
  20. marco thanks always glad to help, have a good one don c.
  21. my understanding is only reversing the tire if your are mounting a rear tire on the front. the croba 150/80r-16 is a front tire. don c.
  22. hi vance i think it's a great deal but that's just my . good luck. don c.
  23. marco the front tire is a avon corbra 150/80r-16 av71, this is the tire he's refering too. this is the next tire i'll be installing on the schoot. don c.
  24. i think what your asking about is a 1" baron's lowering kit. it relocates the brake calaiper to a lower position or the diamoned r leveling links. i never used the leveling links so maybe some one will chime in about those. don c.
  25. hi vance real nice looking bike. i bought my '99 used with 21,000 miles on it in '05, now have over 71,000 on the clock. you will enjoy the bike, it's a beast and loves to be on the open road the v-4 like the higher rpm's. will cruise all day long at 70's or higher. only thing i will add is that i have a short inseam 27" and stand 5'7" so i'am sometimes on my tiptoes. but other than that it was love at first sight. i have learned a lot from this sight and have meet and made a lot of freinds with this vr family. best reguards don c.
