Starter Clutch Removal
Stanman replied to kevin5549's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To clean the oil off try starting fluid. That's what I used for cleaning hydraulic couplers on the tractor when I was farming. Cleans very well and dries fast. -
Again some of us don't have the finances to buy a new bike and drive what we can afford. I personally don't care for Harleys, but am not going to bash those who do. I will admit a joke is a joke and all makes can be a target of fun.

and it might even be faster than the 2nd Gen. :stirthepot:

Kinda puts the icing on protesting helmet laws, doesn't it. Some of these laws are made to try to protect the idiots from themselves.

The other trick to that is they have to know how to use it. I've seen where a person claimed to know how to weld aluminum and it was some of the worst bird-s**t welding I had seen. I think I'll replace the cover.

Thanks for the leads, but only Pinwall has covers but for an 85. I tried repairing it last summer, but the crack is in the lower back corner. I found it very difficult to clean and put in the JB weld.. I don't think I got it clean enough because it only held for about a week.

Sure I wouldn't mind seeing a picture. What do you want for it?

Thanks, I know they are different, that's why I mentioned its a 1300.

My clutch cover has a crack that a previous owner attempted to repair with some sort of epoxy(?). The repair has now let go and the cover leaks.. I don't know of any method of permanent repair on this material, so I'm wondering if anyone has a cover they are wiling to sell. Or do I have to go to fleabay? This is the 1300 cc engine. PM me if you have one you would like to sell.

My 86 has just over 70,000 km (43,800 mi) , but I found out his summer that it is not accurate. It only records 1.2 km/mi instead of 1.6 km/mi. According to my math that could be an extra 17,500 km or almost 11,000 miles.

LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Stanman replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I found a 100watt high/55watt low H4 bulb. Will the system on a Gen1 handle this bulb? Ifit works it should be brighter that the stock bulb. -
Thought I'd Like Louder but....

I actually prefer quiet as well. Even as a teen I did not like noisy cars or bikes. After reading this it makes me glad I didn't order a set of Macs. -
That would be my luck too. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt.

You must have some really long hills to coast those things down. Only problem is you need a Dodge to tow them back to the top.

Even Ford is allowed a few mistakes!!!

Heated grips? My God you live in California, light gloves should be all you need year round. We're looking at highs of somewhere around 20 F for the next couple of days. I think its one of those situations where it gets worse before it gets better. My bike is definitely in storage until things warm up! By the way enjoy your new bike!!

Good looking bike, Not as roomy as a Venture, but I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Good looking aerodynamic trailer. Enjoy.

Thanks Skydoc17, that's pretty much what I thought. -
Rear tire size

I have been offered a used Dunlop 401 rear 150/80- 16 at a reasonable price. It only has about 60 miles on it. I told him I didn't know if it would fit. Is there room for this size or will it rub the swing arm? -
Yes I saw that too. I read the article that went with it. These guys are from the Canadian Armed Forces and can take it apart and reassemble the Jeep in 4 minutes.

If you felt incredibly bold you could make a bunch of these and unleash a hand full on your next tailgater, (although I wouldn't recommend it). http://cgi.ebay.com/Road-Stars-An-immediate-vehicle-disabling-roadblock_W0QQitemZ380123130212
