  1. My registration & insurance (provincial Government insurance) is in the neighborhood of $860/year. Don't know if its true or not ,but I just heard the province is considering putting the rates for motorcycles up 75%, and was told they did go up 25%. If the 75% increase is implemented it would then cost over $1500/ year. if this happens the bike is gone, I'm not paying those rates for 5 months riding. To add to this I've been told that does not cover having the bike stolen.
  2. Yep, sure feels like spring alright!! -15 F before windchill and snow to no end.. won't be able to get to my bike for weeks yet. Its sitting in a shed in an unused yard, snow is 3 to 4 feet deep around the building.
  3. Yep, A great Canadian singer/songwriter who was very proud of his country. May he rest in peace!
  4. I had the opportunity to meet Carrie in Minot ND a few years back. What a sweet little lady!!
  5. I looked at the Silverstar Ultra's last summer. If memory serves me correctly I believe they were around $85 for a pair.
  6. Well I won't even go into a Rotten Ronald's, that would be a last resort to ward off starvation. But I do like A&W, any of their burgers are great with their A&W root beer!
  7. I believe Seafoam is around $14 each in my area. I think I would be inclined to try the cheaper alternative.
  8. Hey Tom, if it makes you feel any better I've always said I'd rather mow grass than blow snow!!!

I guess I'm different, but it looks too "choppered" me. I don't like it at all.
  10. Blackwing, I also have a set that came off an 86. I can't remember the condition of the diaphragms but they may need replaced. An issue I do remember is one of the mixture screws was stuck and I did not take too much effort to free it. If you want them you can have them for little more than the price of shipping. PM me if interested.
  11. Too bad the pics did not work, it would have been interesting to see just how big this rogue bear was.
  12. I am thinking the original poster has a Gen 2. I believe the tire sizes on those are bigger than a Gen 1. I'm sure somebody with more knowlege of this will have the correct answer.
  13. Looks terrific!!! Great job.
  14. I really like that!!! Very sharp indeed.
  15. Anything I have heard is the ecoboost engine has good power, but the guy I was talking to said there was no fuel mileage advantage. A friend of mine recently bought a '12 F150 with the 5.0 litre engine. He admits it is a little lazy, but otherwise is satisfied with it.
  16. That's great news, hope the healing is better than expected, and you are back riding again soon!!
  17. With the saying "new and improved" Yamaha got it 50% right, 2nd Gens are newer!!!
  18. Yup, its called pushing.
  19. Why not, it already looks like a Harley.
  20. I haven't tried premium. Does it make any difference in gas mileage with these bikes? My brother's half ton goes from 22mpg on regular to 28+ with premium. He's done the math and it actually is more cost efficient to run premium.
  21. I am inclined to agree with you. The use of foreign parts is the answer to keeping costs down. I too would like to see the Indian motorcycle make a lasting return. Some nostalgia is good, but if the bike rides and handles like an antique, it still won't gain much market share. They need to build reliability and long life expectancy into the entire bike. I'm sure all of us Venture owners have to agree we love the comfort and ride of our bikes, and if Indian can give some of the same at an affordable price, they will certainly gain some diehard admirers.
  22. Sounds like the highways here where the oilfield boys "drive" daily. I've been riding in a vehicle that was traveling at 120 km/hour (about 75 mph) and was passed like we were sitting still. The speed limit is 100 Km/h (62 mph).
  23. You answered your own question... because its a 2nd Gen. Probably prefers the looks of a 1st Gen.
  24. Sorry guys, but in my opinion, its just another in the great world of Harley copycats. If I wanted a Harley, that's what I'd buy.
