Just did the math, gas here is $1.239/ litre which equates to $4.68/US gallon.
-
If you think gas is expensive now with crude at approximately $110.00/barrel hang on to your hats, I've been told crude will make $200.00 before too long. Guess what fuel prices are going to be then.

Here in Saskatchewan we also only have insurance supplied by the provincial gov't. I believe it costs $864 a year for mine, but I only insured for May to end of October for about $530.

Engine turning over too slow to start?
Stanman replied to woz111's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Even with it on the center stand, the sidestand switch could be sticking a little. Wouldn't hurt to check it. -
Glad to hear you came out with no injuries. Obviously it could have ended MUCH worse.

Harvey Rounce told me about this site when I was considering buying the '86 Royale from him. I'm glad he did; this is a great site. Thanks Harvey!

Need Help!! speedo cable lube
Stanman replied to KingSizer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
In my opinion if you want the lube job to last longer than 5 miniutes use anything but WD-40 unless you use it as a carrier for something more substantial like Super Lube. Just my worth. -
I agree, seems like some manufacturers prefer to clone Harley's.

Ooops, obviously I'm not familiar with the Vulcans.

It's called highway cleanup. While parked like this, the Hardly isn't littering the highway.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but stop worshiping:bowdown: the Harley look and make thier own attractive aerodynamic design.

I happen to know that Flying J uses Shell fuel.

Thanks for the all positive comments. It has been quite a project. $4100 for the bike and over $1200 in parts and paint. The saddle bags and guards have also been replaced. I have a few Venture parts I'll post in the clasified in the next few days. Wild hair 39: go ahead and paint it white; I'm quite sure I'll know which one is mine.

2 years... I wish, this thing was put up last June. I got about 4 months before I had to try alternative methods of holding the back in. I did phone the company in early March and complain. They said they could try a warranty claim if I wanted. I have emailed them pictures as well as the completed claim form they sent, but haven't heard back yet.

Well it's taken me a while, but I finally figures out how to get this digital camera to take reasonable pictures and resize them so I could post them on here. The first two are what it looked like while sitting in Harvey Rounce's (VR member rounce) garage before I bought it from him. The next three are of it in my storage shelter waiting for spring to get warm enough to start riding again. I still have a little more to add but its getting to be less noticable items. By the way the shelter is made by ShelterLogic in Watertown, CT. A wind about 40 - 45 mph caused the damage you see and more. The end wall is held on with light bungee cords and soft of flaps in the wind until tears out the eyelets or rips the bungee. The structure is set up where trees give it some protection from wind. They put a clause in the warranty stating they can't control the wind and thus wind damage is not covered.

Make sure the switches on the brakes (both hand and foot) are not sticking. They can cause this type of problem. I'm sure other members may have more suggestions. Good luck.

I would use a little caution using this product. I applied it to the front of the fuel truck I was driving to make the bugs easier to remove. The truck suddenly got very busy and didn't get washed for about 6 weeks. The cooking oil dried on and was more difficult to remove than any of the bugs. Wore out an entire Scotch Brite pad buffing the crap off. For me, NEVER again.

I fully agree with your thoughts on this one. This same attitude should also be applied here, north of the 49th.

I also didn't know about the site. Hope everyone clicks daily for such a good cause!!

Likewise here. Anything over 10 grand is out of the question. Right now it would have to be free.

Down and out!!!!!!
Stanman replied to Kurt827's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My heart goes out to you! I'm glad you weren't hurt worse than you are. Take care of yourself and heal first, then worry about the bike. I do understand your feelings toward your bike as I would feel the same about mine, but, machinery can be replaced if necessary. It is impossible to replace a human life. -
So are most Fords.:stirthepot: :rotf::rotf:

I agree!!! I also have an opinion about allowing them to ride with thier turbans instead of wearing a helmet, but, I am much wiser not expressing it. (people might think I'm a bigot)

Dyna Beads - Tire Balancing
Stanman replied to KeithR's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I know of a couple of guys that put antifreeze in hiway truck tires to balance them. They claim about a half cup works great. Smaller tires would obviously need less. No need to worry about wearing the inside of the tire because it's a liquid.
