I had a noise coming from my drive train on my 06 with 7800 miles. The noise had been there since I bought it a year ago with 3300 miles. It would start at about 30 mph and continue to about 50 mph, at which time it would disappear. This was different from the transmission whine that everyione talks about. I have that also. Took the scoot in for new tires. Asked the dealer to lube the rear hub and drive shaft splines while he had it up on the lift. Voila, new tires and the drive train noise is gone!

Avon Venoms current status
gmarshall replied to bmxndad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
After reading the many posts on this site regarding tires, I decided to put a set of Venoms on my '06 RSV. Only had 7800 miles on the OEM bridgestones, but they were six years old. My first impressions; words like agile, responsive etc. Very nimble at lower speeds. Not as rock steady at interstate speeds as the Bridgestones, but so far I like them. -
That's not where I'm cold. It was 43 when I left the house Tuesday morning. I need heated gloves.

Rick Butler gave me the thread size of the 2nd gen rider seat bolts. they are metric M6 x 1mm. Grainger sells nylon wing nuts in the perfect size in a 10 pack for $3.97 plus shipping. Part No. 4AGL6. I got yhem 2 days after ordering them online and they are perfect.

I'm not sure what you're looking to do. Are you looking for a pillow top seat? If so I have one for sale. I bought an extra to have rick butler do his seat improvement on, and so I have the original pillow top driver seat for sale if you are interested. let me know. Gary:confused07:

I can't tell if this thread is about fishin or about Kimbers. I don't fish, but picked up a special edition Kimber Ultra carry with crimson trace lazer grips a year ago at Gender Mountain for $999. It is sweet. I just read that Kimber is coming out with a 1911 style pistol in .380 acp. That should be a nice little bugger!

Welcome to the Venture World. I bought a used 2006 venture with 3000 miles on it last October. I moved up from a vstar 1100. I've loved every minute riding once I got used to the extra weight. My only complaint is the cruise control doesn't work. In the classified section you will find a reference to Butt Butler. he will take your seats and rebuild them with memory foam for a comfy ride. Give him a try.

I've been troubleshooting a Cruise control on an '06 Venture that I purchased used last October. The cruise has not worked at all for me. I followed the self diagnostic procedure in the service manual. Did the set anf res buttons 6 times, the lights blink correctly, but then only the res light stays on. Checked the brake switches, they're ok. Did the throttle test, but did not hear the vacuum pump come on. Hot wired the vacuum pump and it runs and draws vacuum. Did the cruise relay test and it passed. I'm left with checking the speed sensor (assume if the speedometer works, then the sensor works; may be a mistake), or replacing the cruise module. Has anyone had a similar experience, or got any advice? How much would a replacement cruise module cost? Your thoughts are appreciated. Frustrated in Ohio:confused07:

Not sure if the V-Star was fuel injected or now. That bike had a choke slider on the left grip. I would engage the choke all the way, hit the start button, and after about 10 seconds, ease the choke back half way. Once I got out of my apartment complex, I would slide the choke all the way off. The venture wants to stall until it warms up good. Still learning the unique character of this bike. Weather permitting, I'll ake it to work tomorrow. G -
Hi. I traded up from a V-Star 1100 to a used 2006 Venture with 3,200 miles on it. Wow, what a highway cruiser! One small issue is starting the bike. It seems to take a long time to warm up. Starts fine, but has now power for the first few minutes. It also has a chrome cap on the choke button. The linkage seems loose, and the choke will not stay out; pulls itself in when you give it a little throttle. Can this be tightened? Is it usual for a water cooled bike to take a while longer to warm up? I used to be able to start the V-Star and drive away immediately. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, G
