  1. Thank you for the quick reply. I went out to the parking lot and looked. You are correct. They are Bridgestones. I haven't noticed any problems in handling (maybe I don't know what I'm missing?). Has anyone had any luck in getting the dealerships to help with this issue? If it's just tire noise, I think I can live with it for a few thousand miles until I get new tires. I feel a lot better now that I know what it is! Thanks!
  2. One more thing. I have to be going 40MPH or over to get it to happen.
  3. Sounds strange, but that's what it does. Almost sounds like back tire noise, but it just started happening a few miles back. Bike has a little over 2000 miles on it. I have checked pressures, final drive oil is new (synthetic) and everything else is fine. A Roadstar buddy of mine said it was hard to hear in his half helmet, but he thought tire noise. It's easily heard in my full helmet. Do I need to take it in?
  4. I just bought the bar for my RSTD. You have the wrong bar.
  5. Can you point me to the part number for the roadie rack? I have to think those are more common and probably cheaper. Thanks alot for the help!
  6. That's a great looking RSTD Bob! Nice Job and thanks for the pic!
  7. I refuse to belive that cookies and cake are good for nothing!
  8. The one I bought is the one that mounts on the sissy bar. I found a pic where it looks like it wedges to the bar. Looks like I'll have to fab something up.
  9. Does anyone happen to have a picture of how the luggage rack attaches to the RSTD? I bought one without the mounting hardware (cause it was cheap), but it doesn't seem as simple as I thought to mount it. Am I SOL? Thanks for the help, you all are the best! On a side note, sometimes being a cheap SOB doesn't really help.
  10. Thanks everyone! Now I need a post about luggage!
  11. I was just curious if the 06 and 07 tranny were the same? I should have checked the manual, but that was too obvious...
  12. I'm getting different answers. I know my OD light comes on when I switch into 5th. Do the '07s do it in 4th?
  13. Well, I replaced my sockets this weekend with a set from O'Reilly's (it was a calterm part 08542). Soldered everthing together in about 1 hour. I attached a video to show you how it looked, but the video should be a *.mov. I renamed it to a *.wmv, so it may play a little funny in yours. Total cost was about $11.
  14. OK. My 06 RSTD has 1156's in the back and they are another strange pin offset that I'm sure is only available from Yamaha. I'm going to replace them with 1157 sockets. I'm going to look locally before I order them of the interweb. I'm hoping I can find them in the HELP section of my local Autozone. I wish they weren't closed today... Hope everyone is enjoying the Turkey!
  15. I've done it to several VStars and my buddy did it to his 99 Roadstar (my VStar had amber rears, so I had to get the clear lenses off the donor as well. My RSTD already has clears, so I'm ahead of the game), and I don't have any problem seeing his turn signals. I haven't even cracked the back of my RSTD, so I didn't know they were 1157's. I may just pull that socket and and solder something up! You need the sockets from the front signals. On the Stars, I just pull the signals off the spare front bar and fish them through the back bar. Everything plugs back in and you have to splice one wire to the running light that powers the brake light. Takes us about 20 minutes to do it. One wierd thing I ran into last time was the newer yamaha 1157's (at least some of them) have three nipples on the side and they are about 130 degrees apart. I had to file down the red 1157 and hang it in there by one nipple. Lasted for several thousand miles and they're still hangin tough... I'll pull it apart in the next few days and take a look.
  16. HAHA. I probably will hit the salvage and look for a front harness. Tartan - The tone of my response was crappy. Thank you for trying to help. That is a great option, but I simply can't afford it....
  17. Bro. That's 70 bucks. No effin way I can drop that kind of coin on a light kit. I can pick up $5 red 1157s at pep boys and light the back up for 10 bucks. I was looking for something cheaper, not something more expensive....
  18. I am trying to find lighting options for my 06 RSTD and I was thinking of lighting up the back turn signals like I did with my 03 Vstar. Last time, I just bought a set of front signals and pulled the harness out, but this time I thought I might buy these. http://www.customdynamics.com/chrome_tie_wraps_stainless_steel_wire_loom.htm#1157_Socket_with_Pigtails For $5 I can make my turn signals running light too. Anybody do this or is there a cheaper way?
