  4. If you can get aircraft fuel it will not varnish.
  5. Every state treats trailers differently. Some states require plates and others consider it plated by the towing vehicle depending on weight. Some states allow out of states to register vehicles in their state and others do not. Usually those that do not sell a "Drive way tag" thats good for 30-90 days. If you know what trailer you want I would investigate making the purchase ahead of time, take the paperwork to your DMV and bring your home plates with you and you are all done. When you are home you are good to go off the boat.
  6. I believe in the law of unintended consequences. I have heard both sides of the brake thing but when the manufacturers stop using brakes it makes me question them. I have maintained the brakes on my trailers for a long time and unless they are electric they are just not as reliable. If they are electric they are touchy to adjust and if not adjusted correctly can be dangerous. Either way they are mechanical and require maintenance but you should develop good driving habits when pulling a trailer and pull it as if you don't rely on the brakes to work. Pulling trailers with our cars and truck I have had experiences where I was glad I had them and times I wish I didn't. I could see situations where the brakes would be helpful and times they would actually be a negative. In the end we should Know our equipment and drive accordingly.
  7. I have used nail polish for small screws for ever and it seems to work well. I don't know if it has any side effect on plastic.
  8. I put the Rivco on my 89 for convenience, I don't think they do a bad job of filtering in fact I had a toilet paper filter in a studebaker that I had and I actually think it did a better job than the spin on. It was absolutely a mess to change though and I prefer the spin on just for simplicity sake.
  9. I paid about $360 for the HF trailer, added a longer tongue, bought a spare and led's and did the usual. If it's trip ready it's worth at least 400.00
  10. Pictures of the parking break please, I just have a chunk of wood cut out to also be my jack
  11. I found out that sunday is spoken for, another family thing. Chris had hand surgery thursday, last night after work we rode to Wheaton for my nieces grad party last night and when we got back home she mentioned she might want to wait till they pull her cast off in two weeks. . . I would like to hit the leather shop in the future
  12. I like the Illinois Wisconsin idea, tons of great places. . . Kevin, that grave is fake, I saw Elvis on a 1st gen riding east
  13. I trust the gps on my phone but don't always listen to it, it will send you off the highway sometimes onto a back road. I finally figured out that it was directing us around an accident. I do find the gps on my phone to be more accurate than my stand alone unit.
  14. Dragonrider I would like one if you have any left, let me know my damage. . .
  15. Do yourself a huge favor, open up the manual and do all the pm up to date on your bike and get familiar with her, replace all fluids ( Brake, clutch, cooling, forks, oil and final drive) , grease as directed above and while you have the rear off replace the rubber. Check the plugs and air filters. If you are afraid of doing the tires you can take the tire to a bike shop , price them out, and have them do it for a small fee. Check date codes on any rubber you replace it with. Now you will be in for a safe riding with peace of mind. That $12.00 membership fee will pay dividends when you need a little help or hit a maintenance day and make some great connections with some of the the finest people on this earth. . .
  16. What, no eyebrows??
  17. where is the leather shop?? We'll check the schedule
  18. I would check the power wire from relay to starter and make sure it is not grounding somewhere. Next i would check the ground wire from battery to see , is it clean and tight. A loose connection could cause this. If that doesn't fix it Unhook your starter and run the wires to the starter you pulled off and ground it , try the starter button and see if it gets hot...
  19. I would think the difference would be minimal and as a commander I would forbid my officers from going over lets say 80 or 90mph. Driving errors are so critical at high speed and the outcome is bad. Control and safety are very important. Most agencies limit their officers speed and the reasons for a pursuit must be felonious. Now the money in cost, maintenance and upkeep are reasons to purchase something more reliable. I know we had fleet software that tracks costs, recommends maintenance and identifies problem vehicles. When adding new cars to the fleet it wasn't always the oldest in the fleet that went away it was the most costly.
  20. Agree it's an awesome bike, everything you want to know about how to keep it running and the gremlins are located within these pages. Best $12.00 you will ever spend
  21. Willing to help if needed, if you get near 80 & I 57 thats a short trip north .. .
  22. Pictures, I would like to see pictures of your roaster
  23. The ipod left on has the potential to be a battery hog, especially with the bluetooth and / or wifi set to on will drain the ipod battery and pull from the bike. If you use it you really need to turn the ipod off or disconnect.

    Lost Key

if you find a key with the same number it will work, you should be able to order the key or a locksmith can cut one.
