  5. David, a lot of people cut the connection to old antenna and put a 259 connector on the end, if you have a good antenna I would leave it in tact and just make up a new cable with a pl 259 on one end and a motorola plug on the other end. (under the trunk) if you haven't moved the trunk back an inch, this would be a great time to do that.
  6. If you haven't carefully bleed and replace the clutch fluid. Take caution not to spill.
  7. My after having boats forever, a marine radio lasts much longer with a cover and the covers a re much easier and cheaper to replace.

  9. I actually purchased some trailer breaks from a wing guy years ago and never got around to installing them. He took them off a trailer that he installed surge breaks on. When I talked to him he said that he didn't have a controller and wasn't putting one on his bike. That said I think breaks are a good idea but they must be properly adjusted. A locked wheel provides less resistance than one that is at thresh hold breaking ( just short of a locked wheel) . The wheel that goes to full lock = a loss of control (a locked wheel won't steer). It is another thing to maintain but it will definitely shorten the stopping distance. Not all controllers are of the same quality, breaks are a place I would not do on the cheap.

  22. I switched to edsets and get a squeel much above 15, we didn't get that with the old J&M's but the sound is much better with the edsets once we made a few mods as the edsets mic is very sensitive. 1 slipped the foam off and put a piece if heat shrink over the mic, a small hole facing mouth and heated up with a hair dryer. We also put mic mutes on the bike.

  24. I have a pair of short test cables cable with a motorola plug on one end and the pl259 connector on the other to connect to the swr meter. I don't thing the connection matters much as long as you have short runs and the swr is connected correctly. Remember to put the trunk back in place and load it as you normally would. Best to go outside, no overhead power lines . . . The antenna you are using is supposed to be "pre tuned" and all I can say is tuning to your application will give better results.
