  1. On a second gen the cb antenna goes on the left and that is a common problem with improper setup. Clean the connections, check to make sure wires are in good condition and adjust the swr, if you only use one channel adjust it to that, if you switch alot adjust 1 and 40 and you will compromise but should be good with all.
  2. bad dog!!
  3. cb radio makes riding in groups more enjoyable and safer, if you don't need it it's not in the way and if you hit an area where cell phones don't work well you will find people using them.
  4. and remember to change your blinker oil http://venturerider.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1039&pictureid=7042
  5. I would contact your code enforcement / building inspector. You have ordinances on property maintenance and if he fails to make adequate repairs, they will deem it unfit. If they deem it unfit the landlord broke the lease by failing to adequately and promptly maintain or repair the property. I would go to code and ask to speak to a code officer / building inspector. Explain what has happened and that the Landlord wants you to live with a bandaid that you do not feel is safe and you are sure does not "meet life safety codes" Code then becomes a neutral third party if you need to follow with a course of action regarding the condition of your rental. I would take some good pictures and make some notes regarding who you speak to and keep track of the date and time and details of the conversation. I did see Peru's codes online and if you live in a building attached to a bar it's commercial property. Ususlly code will go out and inspect, talk to the owner and give them a reasonable time to repair. If they fail to code is uaually good about being a PITA to landlords. Commercial property has a stricter code than rentals, rentals are stricter than residential.
  6. echo the limp wrist, can she grip comfortably with one hand or is the handgun too large? The grip should not be a death grip nor loose. A common error is to relax all fingers and not just the trigger finger. Get some snap caps (simunition) and mix them in no surprises here she should know about it but you are trying to see if she is anticipating the next shot. The idea is to point out bad habits, do not break her confidence, but improving form and build muscle memory with good skills. They can also be used for trigger control drills without going through a bunch of ammunition. In addition you can shoot a hotter load and/or put in a stiffer spring.
  7. I would like a set and I'll ask Chris to call U before my birthday, its a commin
  8. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeLkrPkjimo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeLkrPkjimo[/ame] Ride like a pro DVD is awesome and gives member discounts If you ever park on the grass and have a downpour and your kickstand gradually sinks you will remember it would have been a good idea to have placed a disc under the kick stand. Now that was a while ago and was my first gen, now I carry an electrical cover on a string.
  9. I use stock oil as my bile is still under warranty and that removes any argument should an issue arise and remember to change the crush washer and I use a torque wrench. Yamaha has a kit with oil, crush washer and filter as a best deal.
  10. Is anyone going to the Chicago International Motorcycle Show next weekend??? http://www.motorcycleshows.com/chicago
  11. I used to teach am evoc ( emergency vehicle operators course) Only two things you can control in any vehicle are direction and speed; when you loose direction you shouldn't touch anything to do with speed (throttle and brake) only steer. I think he should have laid off the brake and leaned back and he would have been fine... Bikes are counter intuitive and we need to practice the right things so they become muscle memory. Then when we get in emergency situations we do the right thing, , ,
  12. awesome cake, happy BD and kudos to the wife
  13. Ventures never wear out, but parts of them look for ways to get to MD
  14. I do wonder if he had a holy sh t moment and hit his brakes while the rear wheel was off the ground and front came down. Speed bumps are ugly, I have never had a problem with them but cant remember hitting one going very fast either. As a retired LEO I would say the rider should be more experienced and trained that the civilian rider, his riding was unsafe and unprofessional.
  15. I read a chart that shows the thermal property of each and indicates they change per degree aluminum changes 0.0000123- 0.0000129 Steel changes 0.0000063 - 0.0000073 plastic 0.0000170
  16. kbb trade in is 5400.00, I would wonder about the rubber components exposed enough to cook the clear coat, gas lines, brake and clutch rebuild, tires. . .
  17. ours will represent if you get audited and pay any fines as long as you disclose everything to him. You are on the hook for the taxes. My dad was audited and the accountant went toe to toe with the IRS and they ended up finally ruling in his favor about a year and a half later.
  18. awesome, lots of easy mods for even more comfort
  19. Gone diving in seas not 1/3 that rough, couldn't wait to run down the anchor line. But boarding the boat can be a real painful experience. What man won't do to earn a living. . .
  20. The solar power lights won't get you through the night and the batteries won't last all that long. I have to change the ones on my dock a couple times a season. W#hen they don't get enough sun and completely discharge it seems they don't get enough charge.
  21. Yes they still make them, I run with one and it seems to work well. . .
  22. Snopes is wrong alot, they are about confirming or disproving urban legends. I read it and they agreed the coincidences were true but discounted them, all they are is coincidences. . .
  23. If you find the threads are jacked up, I would find someone that can do a helical thread repair and more reason to use a spin on kit. Once repaired you would be good to go. Make sure to clean the oil passages well, I would spin on a dry filter and run it, then pull off to make sure the oil was flowing.
  24. Just build a bigger garage, it would be a great thread . . .
  25. sweet
