  1. Get a couple gallons of metal rescue, fill your tank to the top and let it sit over 24hrs, then empty out and clean with degreaser ( usually one is recommended by your coating kit or included) and at this point remove petcock and fuel senders and put tape on the outside covering those holes, then coat the tank and you are moving the tank around slowly allowing the coating to cover the entire surface. Let it dry slowly and cure, reassemble and put it back on and you should get many more years out of your tank.
  2. Is it a Venture or Venture Royale ( I would go for the royale ) had an 89 and it was awesome. It might just be me but I would change to new rubber if it were more than a few years old. Cheap insurance. . .
  3. I would think swishing some alcohol around the inside would allow the debris to pool and drain and it will evaporate quickly.
  4. now that makes me question what nails he's framing with??
  5. ugggggggghhhhhh noooooooooo waayyyyyy No footings are bad, cant tell what his layout even is but when I built my garage I framed my walls with california corners, squared, sheeted and tyvek and then stood them up and plumbed them and set braces. For truses we put our nailers 1 1/2 off of the outside, that also becomes your ceiling nailer later but it sure makes setting the end truss a snap. Set metal clips on the top plate in the layout and set plumb and brace. I've seen some pole framing that looked better

  10. And as a reminder WD40 is flammable, it has a 131 degree flash point, it was a fuel source of a fire I was a part of the investigation.
  11. I removed some foam from my seat and set in gel and changed the pillowtop, even better than stock. Butler does a great job for not that much money. I also like a backrest, makes it much more comfortable.
  12. let us know how you waterproof it
  13. I wouldn'y use pb blaster, use cable glide. If the handlebars are not stock or it has risers check the cable routing, they could be pinched.
  14. The seat is the black padded thing behind the tank
  15. We rode to Kerstings Motorcycle Museum in Indiana, they have a wooden bike there. Lots of bikes and history there. http://www.kerstingscycle.com/muse.html

  19. You need to pull your tank, on the left front, the two throttle cables runs into a black plastic housing almost under your bars. In that box is a cam and spring. Two cables run into the front of the cam, two cables runs back to the carbs and one runs down. Be careful of the spring and placement but pull it open and wipe any debris from the cables, lube them, inspect for proper placement and function and reassemble. The cable running down is controlling the cruise, if you have different handle bars or the cam has been apart I would inspect to make sure they it is correctly in it's place. If you remove the throttle cables make sure they are in the correct location ( one is a pullback). Should be some threads on changing cables. Follow your cable down and make sure it is connected at the other end. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=71505&highlight=install+throttle+cables
