  1. When I retired from the first job I built a 30 x40' garage. I went 2x4 construction and did the work myself. I just like it because it's easy to work with. If you are going to fir out the block anyways seems like extra work to me. I agree that pex in the floor and doing the radiant is the way to go. rat walls with a sloped floor. I did storage trusses and they will give you 1/2 the width in additional top storage ( mine is about 16' x 40' of storage.
  2. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
  3. Actually I think I had a bag with a flat sheet of plastic inside. The ends were cut and laced through holes about every 1/4 inch apart with a plastic string. Outside was leather.
  4. I've been riding in every month of this year and I ride like everyone can't see the fat old man on the pretty bike in no hurry. Caution is a good habit to be in, I always look right left right ( closest hazards first ) and remember that you can only control two things when driving any vehicle, speed and direction. Usually you can steer around a hazard more safely than locking up your breaks before striking it.
  5. All this talk about limited power makes me want to throw a cooler rack on the back ( one beer required for this task) , then a generator with an auto start function( six pack required for this task), then wire it up to accept enough lights to make any venetian night look lame ( bust out a pony keg). Once completed head to the Venetian Night Lighted Bike Parade and maintenance day party, is that in Oberlin this year ? ? ?
  6. Try a magic eraser, my wife uses them all the time and they are awesome
  7. I like the idea of tupperware type containers, it's pretty strong stuff. If you heat it a bit you can manipulate it to a shape you like, we did this with big PVc pipe to make scuba tank holders. If it is really stiff you want I would take some little blue ones, I think the blue might be the stiffest plastic or that might be after you play with it to get the shape you want. Remember pictures of your project please
  8. I used 1" conduit cut at 6'5" and it has a 3 x 5 on it. Won't touch down.
  9. we had some 1/2" bolts, cut the head and threads with an angle and they welded up fine. I was origionally going to put a solid gusset on but the bolt ended up working better. Most I have spoken to either put a pin or bungie from the pole to the base. I was thinking of pin but I spoke to a guy last weekend that said he had one pinned and got hung up on a on a low hanging branch or something and felt it was a safety issue and wanted it to have the ability to seperate without too much force without bending the pole or pulling the bike over. I'll stay with the bungie. I do like the cad drawing and idea of three. I also probably would give it a little less angle. . . The tube is 1 1/4" with 1/8" walls Plate is 3/8 and 8 x 8 The Pipe is 1 1/4" and about 12" long
  10. Flag clipped to the eyes
  11. Ok , this all started when I put on my R-Mark hitch, the hitch by the way was shipped quickly, has very good instructions and looks awesome. A buddy stopped over to look at the hitch and said I should make a flag holder that to slip in the hitch. We started talking and as things go pieces were cut, we went and used a welder and anyways here is the results . . . I realize this ain't that pretty but I rode from Kankakee to the South Side Irish Parade. Clipped on Ole Glory and it worked very well.

  13. While we won't admit it, U know that you aren't the only one
  14. Carbs are pretty reliable and I can say as far as injectors go, I have replaced them on my Dodge truck, my wife's jeep, all 4 on my wife's boat and one on my boat. I drove an 89 Venture with carbs and never had a carb issue. yes the seafoam and maintenance issues come up, but what do you have that requires no maintenance and has shown this kind of reliability??? The great thing here is look at the support you can get if you do run into a snafoo and this is a great bunch of people here. . .
  15. I'm gonna say that the first thing I would do is drain the gas and put in some good quality fresh gas in, ethanol will draw water if it has been sitting any time or if you bought cheap gas this could be the problem. I stay with the big names Shell Amaco and away from citgo here. Put the ole gas in your cager. No additives and run it and see if that helps, that might just be the cheapest fix.

    OOPS!

May all of your movements be as smooth as a second gen
  17. I have a question, the center stand on the 1st gen doesn't have the two bars going where the lift pin goes as I recall, can a bracket be made with gussets to support the center stand without the bars? Has anyone tried another way of adapting the gen1 stand to the second gen, I have seen the thread on this and just thought with a slightly different design the straps would not be required.
  18. Prairiehammer, check at the meat counter at Wally World, they have about the least expensive brisket and I have gotten more than a few there. I smoke them on my traeger and on a smoker with apple wood. The treager was a hand me down with some issues but when it works, it works great. . .
  19. If they were wired according to factory directions there is a small switch by the cigarette lighter with an inline fuse on it and they should only be on with low beams. I would look at the connections including the fuse and be sure they are clean, add some di electric grease to the connections
  20. I grabbed mine behind the tail light, I just made a harness with a Y from the light, one side with a spade end and the other with a female end, unplug the stock and plug in and reconnect stock. No wires cut.
  21. Not a bad ride from here
  22. ? did he put that in gear with the center stand down
