Oil queston.. ease up guys ... I'm talkin' 2 cycle
dacheedah replied to Snaggletooth's topic in General Tech Talk
Not all two stroke motors or oil is the same and depending on the type of two stroke motor it is would change my answer. In my Polaris jet ski and both of my boats ( Evinrude E-Tec's) I run a synthetic 2 stroke oil ( low ash) because that is what they are programmed for and take. The oil is direct injected onto the bearing surface and only a small amount. Here you also have to be careful to use the correct two stroke oil. On my jon boat I use it year round and use a factory 50 blend that the motor is programmed to use. For cold use they recommend this oil over the 100% synthetic. On my wife's deck boat it is programmed for 100% synthetic and that is what I use based on use. I can put the 100% in the motor programmed for 50 but not the other way around. On older two strokes, the ones with VRO's, you can bypass the VRO and pre-mix ( here synthetic is a total waste) and most two stroke oil is fine. I have scattered a powerhead using the correct oil on a motor out of warranty and BRP has still stood behind it. I have also seen people using the wrong oil scatter under warranty and it ending up costing them a lot of jack. Personally I don’t see saving $10.00 on oil only to spend $2000.00 to fix a motor. I have scattered a powerhead using the correct oil on a motor out of warrentee and BRP has still stood behind it. I have also seen people using the wrong oil scatter under warrenty and it ending up costing them a lot of jack. -

I just returned yesterday from a visit to Oahu. My first order of business was to go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. I had two Uncles on Oahu when it was attacked, My Uncle Jack ( Dad's oldest brother ) was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a Naval Intelligence Officer and witnessed the attack up close and personal, he also was involved in the rescue and recovery efforts following the attack. Uncle John would later marry my dad's oldest sister, he was in the Army. They would never talk to us about their war experiences much but as kids do we would listen in from the next room over. My dad often was the subject of some ribbing from them. My dad was in the Korean war and was assigned to take photographs and write positive war stories to send home. During a mortar attack he climbed under a jeep and received a purple heart after a large fragment tore into his butt cheek and some smaller pieces scattered peppered his left side. The memorial is also a reminder not just of the personal sacrifice but also of the resolve of the American People after the attack.

In the assembly process I am finding posts of builders past are still very accurate. I am taking a slow and deliberate approach. The bearings must be packed on an assembly line, one was very full of the Vaseline type grease, the other side was barely any at all. Both cleaned and packed with the same grease I use for my boat bearings and my jet drive. I do find that the frame is welded and fairly square. I did read somewhere that the red vs black frames black is slightly heavier and welded.

I have it wired with the hoppie isolator already, I do plan on using the experience of those who have built before me ( The absolute best reason to be on this forum) including extending the tongue and adding a cooler bracket. I was also thinking adding a 4" pvc tube under to put fishing rods in and possibly a long pipe with a T-handle at one end and a hole for a locks to slide through the slots in the wheels when parked . We use them on our radar trailers, simple security. I have LED lights and welcome other suggestions. . .

We came home from vacation and there is a Harbor Freight on the way home. We stopped to get a trailer to make a tag along. The store we stopped at did not have any sale trailers left. I spoke to the manager who went back to check on another store. We started telling him what we are doing with it and he said he received one tag a long trailer last thursday. http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-78-inch-tag-along-trailer-66771.html after checking on the price I just decided to grab one, I had a 20% off coupon and out the door with tax was 357.00. Last time I checked they were not in the catalog. The manager said it showed 62 in the system as warehouse or other stores.

John Stossel I think did a tv investigation on panhandlers and the ones they showed were taking every free handout the government has to offer and some took in 50,000 a year on handouts. When I was on the PD we had a guy standing with a "will work for food" sign. The PD had complaints and I was the nuisance abatement officer, I found the guy and told him I had made arrangements for him to work for food. I persisted and he resisted. I would sit in my car lights on blocking traffic from him. I wrote him citations for being a pedestrian in a roadway at other than a crosswalk ( a moving violation in Illinois) and he ended up with a suspended license. He had a car and a house so we just kept targeting him and he finally moved on. We even wrote him for littering once when a woman bought a burger meal and came by and handed it to him, he looked inside and threw it down.

I was afraid of getting stuck on a 9hr flight away from my wife and I always get stuck next to the talkative smelly guy. I watched and the plane was filling up with only a few seats left so I called and moved our seats to the last pair of side by sides. I have talked to people who have used United and everyone told me don't hold my breath, United looks at it as a seat is a seat. A travel agent says this happens all the time since my ticket price was lower, they resold a seat and moved me to a less desirable seat. She said if you have an isle seat or exit row seat you must check the seating often but the airlines look at the seat as just another seat. I didn't want to dwell on this and have it spoil my trip, thanks 4 lettin me vent and if you have a trip planned you have more info . . .

I don't think the modulator flickers between hi and low, it modulates the high making it pulse. I have read several articles where people claim that it actually increases the lift of your bulb. I have seen diy's on these and all you need to do to be legal is have a sensor on them as it is illegal to pulse at night. -
Leaving for Hawaii tomorrow. I booked the flight on United's web site on Jan 2 and paid extra for exit row seats. I printed out my confirmation and I was seated by my wife. Now I look at the seating chart on the plane and somehow my seat was moved to an economy. When I called customer service I spent two hours on the phone getting passed around and was finally told they have to deal with it at the airport as another passenger is seated there. Now I booked it early because we wanted those seats and when I booked it only a few seats were taken. My question is, does anyone know what the rules are or does anyone work for United that can explain. It's a 9 hr flight, United wants to move me to a non exit row seat, I told them I bought that seat and paid for it and received confirmation and all they want to do is move us to a regular seat.

It's a trade off for labor and time since these walls take less set up time, the concrete is supoposed to be much stronger than block walls.

One lil tweak..one BIG mistake.
dacheedah replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
adjust it in inch pounds, harbor freight has a inch pound wrench for under $20.00 -
I have a buddy in construction, he recommended you use this type of forms: http://menards.com/main/building-materials/concrete-cement-masonry/forms/straight-block-with-4-core-insulated-concrete-form/p-1331916-c-5653.htm You need them to pump the concrete but when you are done you have a concrete insulated building and he said it is a lot stronger and faster than the block. He said they set these in as footings and just go up, they make them in corners. . . At the tops you need to set your anchor bolts, to bolt down your top board. . .
