  1. Valk foot position stoped me from getting one and no overdrive, but the rest is pretty cool! Although I wanted a RSTD originally, they were only 30lbs lighter than the RSV and you miss out on all the added electronics and a little extra storage. If I'm going to haul around that much weight around, I want it all! I have a Honda Sabre for the really fun rides!
  2. BTW, in reinstalling the shaft drive to grease the splines, any good ways/tips in getting it back in the universal joint without a lot of bad words thown in!? Seems to me they could have tapered the end a little to help get it back in?
  3. What chrome are you talking about? The seal is under the engine/tranny in the center. You'd be heating up the case?
  4. How hard it this seal to replace? Just pull rear left side cover off, dig it out and press one back on?

  6. Left work and got on it up to 4th and 50-60 MPH and remembered I didn't strap my helmet. Just took my hands off and let her coast while I did the quick strap, kept missing slot. When she slowed down, I'm guessing around 35, she started something like a tank slap. Scared the heck out of me when I grabed the controls to accel out of it. I'm guessing in 4th the engine started to lug a little to start it??? Anyway, don't try this at home boys and girls, I'm a professional - idiot!

  10. Clock! what clock, where is it? I read something that says Ventures have one but haven't seen one! What am I missing?
  11. Was doing some PM on clutch lever and the pin that goes into the cyl to lever came out of the rubber boot. How in the heck do you get it on the rubber boot again and on to that groove in the middle?
  12. I've read a couple comments on disconnecting the ais. Could someone please point me in the right place to get info on this. Also my front bezel on the radio remote control is cracked. Where to get a cheap replacement? or should I just try and repair it?
  13. That's funny after looking at the user manual. It says you should shift into 5th at 36 MPH. Who in the hell does that? I also take my 1100 Sabre all the time to 55 in second or untill I hit the rev limiter, at least on the 'Dragon', but ya, that must be why they use these engines in the VMAX! Lov'n it so far! BTW, it only pops on decel.
  14. Good idea. The previous owner said the oil was just changed at dealer, looks clean. Think I'll put some seafoam in there, drive around the block or two, change and put synthetic in instead of just Yam oil or whatever they use.

I've rode a couple Valkyrie's, non interstate, and they are awesome power-wize. 35K is just broke in! @ 6'3" I just didn't care for the seating position and controls under the heads sticking out, otherwize I'd prob have one. RSV just has a better seating position for me. Valk's are great bikes!

  17. Ran a couple of tanks with Bell's Mix-I-Go (used that since the '70's - great stuff) and turned up the idle a bit and much better, back-firing much less, could be better. Will get around to synching. Found the air filters installed wrong, was bummed out about that. Oh well, can't do any thing about it now. Thanks for the info guys!
  18. Doing maintenance checks on newly aquired 99 RSV with 55k and found the air filters were installed with the tab on top of the slot they are meant to go into, leaving a small gap. I wondered why the air intakes had a layer of dust/dirt on them when I removed the filter housing. Care to guess how much shorter the engine life is now? In the process of trying to find when they were replaced, but they didn't look new! Also the brake fluid looked like the original, like a dark beer color. Everything seems to work fine though, hope she lasts a few years!

Hi guys and gals, Just added a 99 Venture with 55k to my Honda 1100 Sabre, which I love, but the Venture is popping on decel and has bad off-throttle responce so I think a rejet (cleanning at a minimum) is needed. Play around with Sabre jetting all the time so just need pointed in the right direction. Just ordered a service manual on CD. Came with new Metzlers, battery, clutch so she should be ready to go. Anything else I might need to check with this many miles? Valve adjustment? Thanks in advance. Oh ya, what's a decent driver backrest for cheap?
