Stiff Throttle
venturejockey replied to philmartin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have one of those THROTTLE BOSS throttle rockers on mine and on a couple occasions the rocker has slipped over and gotten hung up on the bar end weight. The friction of the rocker keeps the throttle from closing. Its just a thought but if you have one of those wrap around throttle rockers it could be the problem. -
If it's a 2 stroke and it isn't getting any oil it will be sooner than eventually. Those 2 stroke pumps don't meter much oil but they pump a little. If it isn't pumping the motor will sieze up pretty soon.

Pants comes from the word pantaloon. At one times the leggings were made separately like your chaps. Eventually they were sewn together, but the phrase pair remained. Thats my story anyway.

I found a pump that screws onto the top of the gear oil bottle. This allows me to drain the oil from the bottom, put the drain plug back in and then put the tube that came with the pump into the filler hole and pump until a little drools out the opening. then all I have to do is replace the filler plug, wipe everthing down and away I go. Looks like this only I found mine at Wal Mart http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/g2039.aspx

Not me. Had it off last weekend. Nothing broke in the faring. Notice I said "in the fairing".

I have the Joe Rocket in silver. Definately much more comfortable in the heat. However, I dont care for the back protection, it tends to ride up and poke me in the neck, the wrist cuffs could be redesigned. And my waterproof liner is coming apart at the shoulder.

Actually I didn't mind the young lady putting on her panty hose that time or the other young lady that changed from a blouse to a sweater. I don't know how distracted they were but I certainly was.

What are my options?

This wasn't my experience but I was just trying to reinforce a crack and fill a hole. -
I've heard that siliva causes cancer as well. But only if swallowd in small amounts over a long period of time. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Thanks George!!

If you want to do the plastic solvent repair route. Go to Lowes and buy a can of ABS solvent (it has a blue label) clean the crack with acetone or MEK then lay some of that fiberglass mesh that is used for joining sheet rock together over the cleaned body part then start laying up layers of the solvent. The repair will become a fiberglass reinforced solid layer of ABS. Easy to do just takes a while for thick layers of the solvent to get fully hard. -
My wife and I have a geothermal unit. We live in a 123 year old house with original windows, for the most part. The walls and ceiling have been insulated. Our heating/cooling bills here in Arkansas, yes I know its warmer here than Ohio, range from $100 to $200 per month. We have natural gas for the cook range top and gas logs. The gas bill is $10 to $25 per month. I plan on adding storm windows and insulation in the crawl space and would expect the bills to drop a little after that as well. In addition to the heating and cooling the hot water is free since the excess heat is used to heat the water in our hot water heater. As stated before these units are more expensive than conventional heat pumps those.

I'm thinking about riding in Arkansas every day. Of course all I have to do is get on my bike and ride.

The hot grips will fit on the RSV the problem is that the grip core is hard so it will not stretch over the throttle. The left grip fits just fine with the epoxy cement. The way to make the throttle grip fit is to file/grind off the ridges that are on the hand grip part of the throttle. Then put the epoxy on and slide the Hot Grip on. This is what I did and have had no problems, what so ever, over the 6 year span that they have been on.
-
Don't know about the newer RSV's but the earlier ones require a two pin turn signal bulb. The 9561-27 above is a three pin and will not fit in the two pin socket.

What is nuts to me is that if you pay all of your debts off your credit rating goes down.

Screamin Eagle Venture

For what its worth, when my dif was replaced, the dealer, a friend of mine and long time Yamaha and Honda Goldwing mechanic. Replaced everything from the drive shaft back. Yamaha was only going to replace part of it. But Don told them that since the system had been running out of alignment for so long just replacing the pumpkin wouldn't last either. Yamaha agreed and that fixed it. I have about 20,000 miles on it since then. -
I have a Technic textile suit (2 piece) that I bought 7 years ago. Down side: 1. It is hard to put the pants on while wearing boots. 2. It is too hot to wear in hot weather. 3. Will melt if it gets against a hot bike part. 4. The hip pads arn't very comfortable while sitting. 5. When sitting the knee pads don't line up with my knees. 6. The pant legs are a little short. When sitting on the bike the end of the pant leg only goes down about 2/3's of the way down my lower leg. 7. Kind of pricy Up side: 1. Has kept me bone dry in horrific thunder storms. 2. With the liners in and wearing a down vest only my hands get cold. 3. The jacket has vents in the chest and back, which are ok in moderate temperatures (below 85 degrees) 4. Hard armour in the shoulders, elbows and knees. Came with simi ridgid back armour and high density hip pads. 5. Came standard with removable jacket, pant and collar liners for cold weather. I also have a breathable Joe Rocket jacket for summer. Up side: 1. breathes just as advertizes so I do wear it. 2. comes with removeable soft armour in the elbows, shoulders, and back. 3. Reasonable cost. Down side: 1. Back armour rides up when sitting on the bike. 2. The neck and wrist bands don't fit well and are a little uncomfortable. 3. Water proof liner was cheaply made and the arm has started to come detached from the shoulder.

Parking in marked stalls..ediquite and safety

This thread reminds me of the movie COOL HAND LUKE, when Paul Newman cuts the heads off of the parking meters. Don't try this at home. -
Here is what he is talking about. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/tsbs/tsbsearch.cfm

The narrower and smaller Avon will drop the front and give the bike a more precise feel all around. Enjoy your ride.
