Hey Muffinman! Rhubarb Pie!
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Unfortunately, rhubarb is so hard to find in the stores. I stopped by Kroger this morning to see if they had any more and alas, the three stalks I had left the other morning were gone too and no sign of rhubarb. How much trouble is it to grow, I wonder? Apparently, a lot of people just don't use it so it is not a "demand" item according to one produce manager! But there is always apple pie to take its place!:cool10: -

It's like making an apple pie, maybe a little more tart than granny smith apples, but it is good. I put cinammon in it!:cool10: -
After diligently searching for two weeks for rhubarb in the local stores, I finally found some at our Kroger store soooooo last night I made a rhubarb pie. :cool10: Sleeperhawk said "Not too bad!" If I can find rhubarb in the store before our South Carolina Meet and Eat, I will make one!

I'm Home, Alive And Well! (And With A "New" Ride!)
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to 86er's topic in Watering Hole
quote=86er;134957] 7,910 miles around this great country and I am home! Well, I was home for two nights and then did another three day, two night 600+mile trip back to the Wheels Through Time Museum with a couple of friends. In fact, I got to spend an hour walking around the museum with the owners son and got some really incredible info and stories! Anyone that gets the opportunity to get to this museum should! Whew!!! Great trip, and I met a few of the VR.O family. Granted, I'm no LAPryor, but I spent one night with Eck in Huntsville Al, and one night with Gibvel in Loveland Co, then I had to back out on an offer from Utadventure in Salt Lake City Ut because we got behind schedule (sorry Dave, I really wanted to get there!), but I did get to meet with Ctrayler in Mtn Home Ar as I was passing through. (Thanks for the lunch Curtis!) Long story short...My National Park Pass paid for itself! I shipped home some great Hatch green chilies from Taos NM, and with a couple of friends, I did the Badlands in SD, Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse memorial (although that isn't a national park; they won't accept gov. money!), Little Big Horn, Yellowstone (3 times, back and forth) Glacier and the Tetons. But there sure is a lot of FLAT land in the middle of this counrty! But I guess one of the biggest things of the trip was while I was in Ks. After 7000 miles of this 8000 mile trip I spent a week in Kansas. Across the street from where I was staying was a 1950, 5 window GMC truck for sale. I tried for a week to talk myself out of it. Didn't work! I made the last 1000 miles driving 47 miles an hour with the Venture in the back of my bran-used truck! It was kind of a drag not finishing the trip on the bike, but it was worth it to bring this Black Jewel home with me! The truck has a new 1967 motor, but it is pretty much original. It probably won't stay that way. As time and money permit, I'd like to put a 350 in it and maybe a 4 wheel drive chassis under it. I'm gonna attach a few pics of the truck here and, if I can figure it out, I'll post some pics of the trip in photobucket. (I did post a few trip pics in this thread) Wow, what trip!!! Glad you are back home safe and sound! Sleeperhawk and I want to do basically the same trip you did! Sounds like a beautiful trip that everyone should make at least once in a lifetime! I love that truck! It reminds me of the one my uncle had. Spent some time in the back being hauled out to the fields in it along with my cousins for cheap labor! Hope you are not too tired to make our South Carolina Meet and Eat on October 27!!! Got plenty of room - bring your sleeping bag! Got a DQ trip planned too! Ride safe, Bobbie -
We kept waiting for some great stunt the Harley people said they were going to do! :rotf:

Sleeperhawk is working on the pictures right now. Sorry we missed your meet and eat today but we had fun meeting up with Dave38x. Maybe next time you can give us advance notice!:cool10: Bobbie

Glad you made it home safe and sound, Lowell. It was nice having you come stay with us for your first time in South Carolina. Maybe next time you can stay longer and we can show you a little bit more of Columbia than just the "owl" on the back deck!:rotf: And as you saw, we do have a DQ "down the road" Come back this way again, I will have more Shinerbook waiting for you! Ride safe, Bobbie

Wild Hair has left Columbia, South Carolina
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Lowell could not quite see it last night. Must not have had enough beers! I had to show it to him this morning!:rotfl::rotfl: -
After a good night's rest and a few cups of coffee , Wild Hare is on the road again, heading west on I-20 towards Atlanta! Where he stops next, only Sleeperhawk and Mechanic know!!!!:cool10: P.S. I took over 650 pictures of this weekend, have edited them down to about 619 and Sleeperhawk will start the tedious task of uploading them to Photobucket later!:)

Great Idea for an Interior Trunk Light!
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to dragerman's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Can you still load two helmets in the trunk with the lights? I got a pack of those for Sleeperhawk last Christmas, but we are afraid that the helmets will not fit in there. -
Well, you know Sleeperhawk and I cannot pass up a ride this great! We will be there!:cool10:

Great pictures!!!:cool10:

Allan, George and I are deeply shocked and saddened by your loss. We will always remember Debbie as laughing and smiling. Words simply cannot express the loss of a loved one but only know that Debbie is sitting by our Lord in peace. May God bless you in this time.

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers. Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace, and farewell... Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

Trunk Lid Organizer? Alternative?
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to RoadKill's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I thought an inside lid organizer would be handy too but Sleeperhawk pointed out that we could not put our helmets in the trunk with an organizer inside the lid. It is a tight squeeze putting both helmets in there as it is.
