Here is the link for the pictures from today's Meet and Eat. Had a great turnout in spite of the weather. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20SC%20MB%20Feb%2023%202008/ It started out with a lot of fun at Dick's in North Myrtle Beach! Then, of course, a run to DQ for refreshments. Lastly, a trip to Bill's house for a mini Maintenance Day! It was great to see everyone again and look forward to the next M&E!

Saying Grace in a restaurant
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
I just wanted to clarify that this did not happen to me and my son. My apologizes for the misunderstanding. When I read the story, I knew I had to pass it along as it brought to my heart how children can be so pure at heart. As my children grew up, I was always amazed at their naive wisdom. As they say, from the mouth of babes! -
Yes, I do and you are on the top of my list!!!

Our friend in Madison, Alabama sent me this email relating which I wanted to share with you: "I have a true story to share with you. Last Saturday, a couple friends of mine and I went to a Patriot Guard mission in TN. There was about 30+ bikers coming to show respect to this fallen hero and his family. We were staging at a local Walmart, when this lady and her very young daughter came up to us. The lady asked if it would be ok for her daughter to sing us a song. Several folks spoke up and said sure. The little girl looking at all of us bad looking bikers began to sing "God Bless America"! I can not tell you how that little girl touched our lives knowing she had her values right where her parents wanted them. It made me feel proud knowing someone that young cared." What a wonderful experience that was! Ride safe! Bobbie

Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, 'God is good, God is great. Thank You for the food, and I would even thank You more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!' Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, 'That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!' Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, 'Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?' As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, 'I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.' 'Really?' my son asked. 'Cross my heart,' the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), 'Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.' Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, 'Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.' The End I love this story! Sometimes, we all need some ice cream. No wonder us Venture Riders love DQ! We know it is good for our soul! I hope God sends you some Ice Cream today!!! Ride Safe to the nearest DQ! Bobbie

Fun Ride in South Carolina Feb 17
Sleeperhawks Mechanic replied to Sleeperhawk's topic in Picture Folder
Hey Kit, thanks for dragging us away from the yard work! That was much fun! It was also great to see Sandy again and meet your grandkids! Now I am just trying to figure out how to sneak your parrot home! He is such a character! -

For some reason, Photobucket put the pictures in reverse order. George worked on Kit's bike BEFORE we went on the ride just to prevent that from happening!!! Glad to hear you are okay. There were some rough storms that went through Alabama - Georgia yesterday. A bad one hit Prattville where we have family but they all are okay - just destroyed a lot of houses and businesses. -

You hardly sit still long enough to give Sleeperhawk a chance to wipe down your bike, Riderduke! -

In answer to your question about the piece on the wing, when George replaced the throttle cables after installing his flanger bars, the throttle cables were rubbing up against each other, so he found that cable "separator" in a catalog. I will have to ask him to give you the link. To keep the "separator" together, he used a couple of small o-rings (from the hardware store) to secure it. Picture Number 26 is the one on George's Venture. It works so well! -
I could tell that George really, really likes that bike. I could see it in his eyes! Now all he has to do is ride one and I think he will be hooked. We have room in the garage for a second bike sooooo we shall see!!

Since Pony is still waiting parts, it can't be today. Kit and Dave just left here for a ride. Sleeperhawk keeps saying he needs a second bike for occasions like this! And I keep telling him to get the bike he wants - too many choices, I think! That would be fun to surprise Felicia, wouldn't it?!!!!
-
Kit and Dave38X stopped by to show us Kit's new ride! Beautiful bike as evidenced by the pictures! Kit and Dave are off for a Sunday afternoon ride to McLeod Farms for ice cream and peach enchilida. It is a beautiful day for one! Poor Sleeperhawk - can't go for a ride yet - Pony still waiting parts:crying: but hopefully by next weekend, we will be out there too!!!
-
Congratulations to both of you! Can't wait to see the little Venture! Bobbie and George

I would love to be at home helping him, but I am at work!!!! Can you tell it is a little quiet here? By the way, he is doing a great job on the bike! I think he is going to have it finished by the time I get home - maybe we can go for a test ride!!!!

Try your hand at this fishing game. Read the instructions (below) first. You will see the fish swimming in the lake. Click on the place in the Lake you want the man to cast his line. Remember the fish are swimming and if you click on the fish by the time he casts his line the fish will have moved beyond that point. So click on a spot ahead of the fish where you think the fish will be after the line has been cast. This is for all of you great outdoors men who love to fish, but don't want to drive to the lake...so, good luck, and no lies!!!...and turn up your volume. Note: There is a tackle box nearby, want a different lure? Just click on it! Kenai River Run http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/kenairiverrun/kenairiverrun.html
