Well, summer's over for us with the exception of a few warm days here and there. It hit 18 today and not a degree more. It's already down to 13 and it's not dark yet. Low of 7 again tonight and highs just under 20 for the rest of the week. Glad to hear some of you still have some great riding weather left!!

Got up today - it was six degrees (42 F)!!! It's STILL six degrees with a high of only 17 (63 F). Ugh. Guess most of our long day rides are over - as soon as it goes below 10 degrees (50 F), I'm way too cold to go on the bike any distance. May look into heated gear next year. Short rides are okay, under an hour max but all day rides? Can't handle it at all even with multiple layers and lots of leather. This summer was WAY too short.

Putting Bike in Storage
myminpins replied to birin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you can, take the battery out and put it somewhere it will not go below zero Celsius and put it on a trickle charger (that stops when the battery is charged). Don't put it on concrete or steel. I'd think putting it on a lift or jack might be good for the tires but I don't know that one for sure - never had to store something that long. Hope you enjoy your time abroad! -
Wow, insurance must be expensive in Ontario. We have full coverage, fire, theft, comprehensive, etc., on our '06 for less than $600. Thanks for asking this question, by the way, I always wondered about these people with all these bikes listed under their name!!

I'm using Opera 11.51 and it's absolutely fine. Clear cache, cookies, history, restart your computer, etc. It should go away.

The thing that still ticks me off big time is the 2011 is STILL $23,800. Why??? The Canadian dollar has been as good as and sometimes even better than the American dollar for a good year or so now. Why do we have to pay SO much more PLUS 15% tax on top of that??? This is why we purchased privately. If we could get your guys' price in the US, we'd have bought from a dealer, gotten some warranty, etc., but the prices are just way too high around here. (At a dealer, 2006 model is still $14,000!!!)

Are these still available or are they going to be or where should I look? Thank you!!!! Brenda

Wow, there ARE still great folks out there, aren't there? So glad they saved him. I hope he didn't get burned, too. If so, he's going to be a long time recovering Stupid car driver.

Our old bike used to act like that. The battery was bad. The stator was, too, but hopefully that's not an issue with your bike. The numbers you gave for your battery are much too low. You most likely need a new battery. You also must charge your battery a minimum of once per month with a trickle charger that will not overcharge your battery. If your bike sits during the winter, the battery should be pulled, put in the house or somewhere above freezing, put on a shelf (NOT concrete) and charged once per month. If you have the new type of battery, this may be completely different but all battery "experts" seem to think this is the way to go to keep your battery in tip top shape. When we got numbers like you got, we took the battery to a shop where they load tested it and said it was toast. Got a new battery and no issues whatsoever. -
Definitely a great deal if it fits. As noted above, put it on with just a t-shirt. It should be snug but not tight.

Good catch!!! When they repaved our street, they offered to do or redo people's driveways for them since they'd be here with boatloads of asphalt but they were legit. It was funny - they had to repave some of everyone's driveway then asked if they wanted the rest done for $$. So when they came to see where they'd have to pave our driveway to, it was a dip like crazy (our driveway was full of dips at that time) and they couldn't stop the paving there - it'd be too hazardous (a huge bump in the driveway). So they figured out where they'd have to pave it to and it was basically the entire driveway that we used so nope, no more, thank you. Redoing that part was great with us so we got a good portion of our driveway (the most used portion) redone for free

Far as I know, it was fine. It came via the 100 series highways, where all underpasses are a minimum of 13'6" so it fit okay I guess. Well, Shearwater is due a bunch of new helis so who really knows? Was definitely a sight, that's for sure!!! Seems it was, indeed, one of our new Cyclone helicopters: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?175847-Sikorsky-CH-148-Cyclone-(H-92) http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/4682/img8427rcs.jpg http://www.key.aero/central/images/news/1737.jpg

It's the Canadian military... who knows???

We believe it's a cyclone - our second. Had four police escorts, blocked the roads, no passing, etc. Was neat to see it.

Heading up to New Brunswick when we saw this making a U-turn in the middle of the highway while all traffic was ordered to stop (police escort). I took this while we were doing 60 miles an hour and with my phone but still - kinda neat, huh? http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/580857270XyGoRN?vhost=outdoors

You know what? These days, so many of them are just stupid it's amazing. They're not being aggressive or rude, they're just plain old stupid. I always push for Mike to just pull over and let them go. There's no point trying to fix stupid, after all!!!!

http://toyrun.ca/ Heading out to this tomorrow. Went in 2009 and had a great day - warm and tons of bikes. Tomorrow's forecast isn't that warm and a chance of showers so fingers crossed it'll be a good day!!!

Sure was a short summer around here since it rained the entire month of June, was freezing in May so we only had July and August and poof! It's gone Didn't even hit 20 today (68F) Down to 50 or so again tonight with highs all week under 68. Ugh. Too soon.... too soon....

The classified section is not available to trial members. The ones you found are old??? I saw at least seven put in there TODAY so I don't know where you're finding the old ads. If you go to "Quick Links" and "today's posts" you'll see quite a few new ads that have been posted.
